I keep hearing about significant changes in TDG next year.
Team size, matches that count...
Anyone that is the commissioner care to put a little truth into all the rumors?
Mr. Lewis?
It would help Captains make plans for the upcoming season.
The Discrupters are ready to make another step toward the Championship this season.
It's the middle of DG season Jordan, and 85 degrees... why aren't you thinking about our Winter yet?

What would it take for a C. Oregon team to partake? Any chance you guys would be willing to come over for 32 degrees and six inches of snow? Just a thought... Jealous of what you have over there

TENTATIVE 2012-13 SCHEDULE
Week 1 - Saturday/Sunday October 6th/7th: TBD – 9a
Week 2 - Saturday/Sunday October 20th/21st: TBD – 9a
Week 3 - Saturday/Sunday November 3rd/4th: TBD – 8x
Week 4 - Saturday/Sunday November 17th/18th: TBD – 8x
Week 5 - Saturday/Sunday December 1st/2nd: TBD – 8a

Week 7 - Saturday/Sunday December 29th/30th: TBD – 8x
Week 8 - Saturday/Sunday January 12th/13th: TBD – 8x
Week 9 - Saturday/Sunday January 26th/27th: TBD – 9a
Playoffs - Saturday/Sunday February 9th/10th: TBD – 9a
Championships - Sunday February 24th: McIver State Park – 9a
To alleviate the long weekend at Milo for the Championships I have decided to forgo the Prelims this year and split the playoff into two events. The first week of the playoffs will be like a normal week where the Saturday and Sunday teams battle it out division vs division each on their separate days before all meeting on the final Sunday for the deciding matches.
This also provides the bonus of giving us 1 more early season match before we lose daylight savings.
Team roster size will be going up to 8 players to help make it possible for more teams to field players at each event. You still only need 7 players to get the bonus point and if all 8 show up then the bonus singles becomes a bonus doubles match playing for the same match point.
Cost. This year for the first time there will be a cost to play OR Team Disc Golf. We need to buy the paper and get new clipboards etc. But we should be able to get it all done for either 10 or 16 dollars per team. There will be a flyer to fill out as soon as I get off my butt and make it to sign up for a team. Captains from previous years get right of first refusal on returning for the new year.
As far as adding Central Oregon, we do need 10 courses to play this year and we start in early October. But what 18 hole course with cement tee pads do you propose to play? The Central Oregon team would have to commit to playing all the rest of the events and that could be some serious winter driving.

Will the seventh match point now always count? Or will teams still be able to shield themselves from losing the point by not playing the seventh point match? (i.e. one team still fields only 6 players against 8. Is the 7th point a forfeit for teams that don't field at least seven now that teams are even larger?)
My independent poll shows players that show like the idea of every match counting.

Mostly the rules will stay the same. The match points that you forfeit by not fielding players are the 4 singles and the 1 doubles match. I am hoping that with an 8 player roster that every team can field at least 5 players every week.
Then, if the teams both show up with 7 players, they can play each other for a bonus match point, but it will not be a forfeit if one side cannot field the 7th player. If both teams show up with 8 players the bonus singles match becomes a doubles match. If one team has 8 and the other team has 7 then the team with 8 can decide if they want to sit a player and play a bonus singles match or play dubs against the other team's cali player in a bonus dubs match.
Like last year, after all of the match points have been played for and a match winner has been decided, the 7 player bonus point is awarded to any team that played at least 7 players in a singles match.

Smart move. Josh found new clipboards online for $1 each plus shipping. We need 40 for the new season.
But with Gorman no longer giving us the hook up on the paper, the best deal I could find was direct from the manufacturer at $30 for 200 sheets plus shipping. For some reason I couldn't find the deal to buy a full ream directly from the manufacturer. We need at least 500 sheets for the new season.

7 players is plenty! If teams cant show up, boot em! I want 7 possible points per round if there are going to be 8 players! No one should have to sit out ever! Dont gimme that crap about, you can still play. We shouldnt be punished further because of other tams attendance issues! My team shows up every time fully staffed and ready to play for points. If you need 8 people to field 5 or 4 or 6 maybe dont sign up your team at all!

Thanks for voting, but this is not an election. Jordan has spoken. The rule change has already been made. The time to debate it has past. Now you need to find your 8th player!

The Discrupters are auditioning potential players for our 8th man spot.
Interested players should PM me. We have received several applications and interested parties only have until 1:47pm September 10th to apply. The 8th man will be chosen and notified September 11.
Qualifications for The Discrupters are fairly stringent.
You must be able to show up and have your own discs.
Applying is free, being a Discrupter, priceless.

Sorry it has been so long to get the clearance needed (or not in this case) to try and start the OTDG season on Sunday October 7th at Milo McIver State Park. But after going through the official channels and being denied the use of the two BSF layouts without paying money to reserve all of the shelter areas I have had to make a change to the schedule.

Jordan,
This was the un-un-official TDG thread. I just used it so as not to interrupt the un or semi-official threads. I believe more people were tuning in to your posts in the other threads.
Or, you have now made this the new temporary-official thread by posting official information here.
I hope you cleared this thread change with Gawain!
Perhaps this site could give you your own locked thread here- for official OTDG Commissioner type postings- without the annoyance of outside chatter (such as this).
I'm looking forward to the match threads. I feel The Discrupters have a very good chance of leading the way in smack talking posts.
Breathe deep Mr. Jordan. Your efforts as our leader are appreciated.
Whenever and wherever you decide we will play, we will play- happily.
Thanks for all the work you do- even before we play a match!

It is only because this thread IS the un-official thread that I felt free to express my disappointment regarding how rocky the start of TDG is going this year. I think that this Official vs Un-Official debate will go by the wayside as soon I can get off my butt and produce an Official post for this year.
While we are on the un-official thread if anybody has any ideas about courses they'd like to see us play this year, this would be a good place to post them. So far I am thinking about using Sorosis, North Bonne, Dabney, Pier, Hornings, Trojan, Timber and Milo. Since that is only eight courses, we will probably be playing one of these courses twice.
(You will notice that I removed Adair from our schedule due to the whiny little bitches down there and the shitstorm they brewed up when we came down there. I hear real good things about the changes being made at that course and it is sad to not go there when they are finally pouring cement pads but it just isn't worth the headache. Hopefully the WLBs will be happy, but I am sure that they will find something else to complain about since that is their nature.)
I will try to get out of my funk enough to get this thing going as soon as I can.

The only caution about Pier is PP&R is sensitive to the enviromental impact disc golf has on the park during the winter months. It might be good to only hit that course once during the season. They've spoken before about closing it down entirely during winter months - I'd hate to be one of the reasons they use to do this.

I shot poorly..............BUT our round took about the same amount of time yours did. I believe in only a couple of weeks of the course being open things are getting speeder. The tall grass is getting matted down, the routes are becoming more visible.
Thought............as I was going into the tall grass on one of my throws the group says "lucky, went in right by the flag." What if we put more flags as point of reference? Different color every other flag. Might be quicker locating discs?

First off I'd like to thank Josh for stepping up and handling the duties for the Saturday peeps in Oregon Team Disc Golf. And as part of that duty he has taken it upon hisself to poll the Saturday team captains about the first weekend Hab/Rec conflict. So after the dust has settled it seems that the Saturday peeps prefer to start the season on Sunday October 7th.
Now, since we cannot rent all of the shelters out at Milo, we can do some park swap gymnastics and get it all finalized. This new schedule has an If/Then logic point so please try not to get lost.
IF (that's how you tell that an If/Then logical test is about to begin) Saturday TDG fills up with the full 10 teams, THEN we will start the season on Sunday October 7th with Saturday peeps playing at North Bonneville and the Sunday peeps playing at Sorosis. Then week two Saturday peeps will play Saturday October 20th at Sorosis while Sunday peeps will play Sunday October 21st at North Bonneville.
IF Saturday TDG does NOT get 10 teams, THEN they will play a 7 event schedule that does not start until Saturday October 20th. This will drive me further to the edge of madness, but it is what it is.
I'd really like to get this all set and ready to go, but with the slow sign ups for Saturday teams it is hard to do so. Thank you all for sticking with it while these new kinks get ironed out.

My only thought is instead of playing Milo three times why don't we play Timber twice instead?
Then we'd double up on Milo, Timber, Pier and play Sorosis, N.Bonne, Dabney, and Trojan once.
Or substitute Adair for one of the Milo dates. Is Adair still out of the question?

I love playing Bryant, but without cement tees and the fact that you can't predict when it will flood and become unplayable makes it too hard to schedule.
We might be able to put Bryant in week 3 and move Hornings to week 9...:chinscratch:
We really are not playing Milo 3 times. I know it looks like it from the schedule, but the championship is held on the double course BSF layout while the mid-season events use the regular 27 hole layout. Picking 18 of those 27 holes differently each time we play helps keep things fresh.

These are my thoughts on the course schedule for this year. But I am not set in stone on the courses we are playing. I could be open to changes of that nature, but the dates/times are solid.

I've read this schedule many times, but I cannot find Blue Lake on the schedule. I must be missing it in there somewhere. Hehe, just trying to get your blood pressure up Jordan.
Come on Dad! Please can we play Blue Lake, PLEEASE?

I like the notion of dropping Adair and blue lake.
and doubling up on particular courses adds a little more competitiveness to the schedule.
Less guessing and scattered forecasting for teams. :)
I like what you have drafted jordan

Then week two Saturday peeps will play Saturday October 20th at Sorosis while Sunday peeps will play Sunday October 21st at North Bonneville."
