Me and two friends are heading up to Horning's Hideout for the first time this week. We will be camping Friday night and then playing DG all day Saturday.

Since none of us have ever been there, do you guys have any tips/suggestions for surviving Horning's for the the first time?

Just an FYI....there is a tournament there this weekend.

to avoid the tournament, which is only using one course at a time, this is what i recommend: hit up Meadow Ridge in the morning when you are nice and fresh, followed by a super easypeasy little pitch and putt lunch round on the Highlands and then cap it off with the canyon course, the finest course horning's has to offer. this way you can avoid bumping into the tournament and enjoy all three courses. you could also play the canyon first, then meadow ridge, then the highlands... but i think Meadow Ridge is such a beast you should attack it when you're fresh.

have fun.

Sounds like good advice! Our wives planned the trip for us for fathers day and apprently they didn't check to see if there were any tournaments. I am glad that we will be able to avoid it and still enjoy a day of Disc Golf.

The tourney this weekend will be using the Highlands in the morning, the Canyon and Highlands in the afternoon. This is only on Saturday, but be aware.
And enjoy, HH is my home course(s), all three courses emphasize terrain, rather than just distance.

after reading j's post and rethinking my brain thoughts, it looks like you may want to play canyon in the morning and then meadow ridge... and if you have to skip the highlands, well, no big deal... as far as itty bitty courses go it's quite good but if you have to skip one of them it would be the one to skip.
