May 12, 2012 is a day to mark in the history books of Women's Disc Golf. To follow in the footsteps of last year's Global Tournament, the PDGA and PDGA Women's Committee will be hosting the inaugural Women's Global Event. We invite women from all over the world to take part in this groundbreaking event!
The Chick Flick Women's Global Event will take place at Horning's Hideout both rounds on the Canyon Course.
TDs: Cindy McMahan & Celeste Scandiffioi
Check in 8:00am - 8:30am
Players Meeting - 8:30am to 8:45am
First rounds starts at 9:00am
Lunch 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Second rounds starts at 1:00pm
No lunch will be provided, so bring your lunches. Also you will need to pay the $3 Horning’s Hideout day use fee unless you are a season pass holder.
So, What exactly is a Women's Global Event, you ask?
Here are the details: On May 12, 2012 women from all around the world will play two rounds of disc golf during their local global event. The scores for the two rounds will be submitted and rated by the PDGA. The round ratings will be added to determine the player's "Global Score."
For the rounds to qualify the event must include two rounds on the same layout on the same course and also have five players rated 800+ (male or female) to keep the ratings consistent across the competition. The global scores will be updated and ranked throughout the day to find our overall Women's Global Event Champions.
We will be offering all Pro and Am divisions and you do not have to be a current PDGA member to play, and the $10 non member fee will be waived for this event. This event has been coordinated to make it as accessible as possible to encourage more women to get out and play!!
Registration fees are $15 for amateurs, and $20 for pros. There will be player’s packs for amateurs, and the PDGA is hoping to gather enough sponsorship to provide something for the pros as well. Amateurs will be awarded prizes & pros will be playing for cash.
The link to the player registration page is below. Make sure you click on The Chick Flick Women's Global Event.
Also since we will be competing against women from all over the world we encourage everyone to follow the PDGA ratings to determine which division you should play in, and there will be no division size minimums. Since we are competing against womens from all over the world we may have lets say for example one Advanced Grand Master, but there will be other Adavanced Grand Masters at other events.
If your rating is below 750 you could sign up for Recreational (FW3)
If your rating is below 800 you could sign up for Intermediate (FW2)
If your rating is above 800 you should sign up for Advanced (FW1)
Also if you are a pro, and have excepted cash or are classified as a pro with the PDGA, and if your rating is below 850 you can sign up for Advanced (FW1)
Age protected divisions:
If you turn 40 this calendar year you can play Pro Master Women (FPM), or Advanced Master Women (FM1)
If you turn 50 this calendar year you can play Pro Grand Master Women (FPG), or Advanced Grand Master Women (FG1)
If you turn 60 this calendar year you can play Pro Sr Grand Master Women (FPS)
If you turn 70 this calendar year you can play Pro Legend Women (FPL)
If you are 19 or younger you can play Junior Girls (FJ1)
If you are 16 or younger you can play Junior Girls (FJ2)
If you are 13 or younger you can play Junior Girls (FJ3)
If you are 10 or younger you can play Junior Girls (FJ4)
If you do not have a PDGA rating we can help place you in the division where you will be most competitive. Just message Cindy McMahan (LegoRules) or Clesete Scandiffio (Celeste).

Hey Cindy- this is a total "what if" scenario that might come up on my end but can plan around if necessary.
There is a pretty good chance (I probably just jinxed it) I will be over in Bend next week sometime for a job interview. IF my interview is on Friday, how much of a pain in the butt would it be for me to transfer over to the Sisters Global event? That way I wouldn't have to interview Friday then rush back to Portland that night to be at Hornings Saturday but could still participate in the global event. Like I said, this is a total "what if" scenario but figured I would at least see what my options are if it comes to that...
If it really is a pain then I'll make it work so no worries!

No trouble at all. Just let both myself and Rachel know on Friday if possible. You might shoot Rachel a text or something just to give her a heads up that this may happen because she does not get on here as much as me.
Your player pack will be sent to our event though, but we will make sure you get it.

I am just curious as to why there has been no info posted on Disc Golf Scene about the Womens Global Event. It seems to me that the best way to reach the most people is to use as many avenues of advertising as possible. There seems to be a separation of interests when tournament info is posted on this Forum. Not just the Ladies event but alot of events that are posted on NWDGN are left off of the Scene or mentioned in passing when any one of several events are looking to fill vacant spots. Purely an observation.

I have posted several times on the DGS pertaining to the WGE Thomas. On my page, and the Chick Flick page. We mostly post on facebook though TD becasue that is where most of the ladies are.

Also another problem with the DGS is there are so many different groups who have pages it would take forever to post on all of them for an event. With the forum bamm post once, and you are done.

The Women's Global Event is a completely different event from the Chick Flick. For the Women's Global event we all have to play the same course at our event on the same layout for two rounds. All the other 40 events in the world will be doing the same thing on their home courses. At the Chick Flick Women's Global Event we will play two rounds on the Canyon course all in the longs with only 1 & 12 in the short pin positions.
For the 2012 Chick Flick, which will take play August 4th & 5th for Sundays two tournament rounds as we have the done the previous two years the recreational & younger Jr. players will play their tournament rounds on the Highland course.

Hey we are looking for someone who has some video equipment, and some skills to come out to the Women's Global Event this coming Saturday at Horning's Hideout. We need someone to take some footage of our event, so we can send it into Disc Golf Planet. They will be producing a program about the Women's Global Event from footage that is sent in from all of the events throughout the world. Contact either myself or Celeste if you might be able to help us record this historic event.

Here is the only thing I am wondering about, will the 'Official' round ratings bump Sally into second?! Or did the PDGA already look at that scenario since there is only 1 rating point difference from 1st and 2nd....Drrrrrama...Suspense...all that fun stuff.

Ratings often change from unofficial to official, so it is just me being curious! And it would also be funny if they had to re-tract what was said and make the correction because of the oversight.

For Global events, the unofficial ratings are considered "official" in terms of how final standings are determined. In most of the global events, the official ratings will be different in each round than the unofficial ratings because most of the time the two round scores are averaged to determine the course's SSA. However, the total of the two rounds of unofficial ratings are usually the same or within a point of the total for the two rounds of official ratings.

Yes the Chick Flick now owns it's own score point! Thanks to myself, Celeste Scandiffio, Nichola Landry, Kirsten Schmieding Voyer, and Arletta Quadro for donating their WGE winnings. Thanks you to Brian Graham & Rebecca Hall Duffy & the PDGA for allowing us to pool our WGE winnings, so that we could purchase this for the Chick Flick. Also a huge thanks goes out to Bob Cabal who wanted to help us get this, and paid for the shipping. Bob also wants to build us a frame to hang it, so he and Steve McMahan are going to do this for us. Thanks so much everyone with all the events in our area it will be nice to have another one of these in our disc golf comminity. :yay:
