View Full Version : Stumptown Slosh Series #4 - "The Finale" @ Lunchtime Disc Golf Course
Bullseye
January 31st, 2012, 11:12 AM
Saturday - February 18, 2012
Location: Lunchtime Disc Golf Course
TD: Dan Brown / Jeff Hagerty
Stumptown Disc Golf is pleased to announce the final Slosh event for the season. Stumptown Slosh events are inexpensive, one-day PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier events aimed at giving players of all skill levels a chance to compete during the winter months. Slosh events also give our club an excellent means of showing the ropes to new tournament directors wanting to learn the ins and outs of running PDGA sanctioned tournaments.
Important Notes:
As many of you know, Stumptown Disc Golf decided to use the entire Slosh Series this year as fund-raising events to help replace the old baskets at Lunchtime Disc Golf Course. Five dollars ($5) from every Slosh entry fee this season has gone directly to the Lunchtime basket fund. It is everyone's support of these events that is allowing us to play this final event at Lunchtime Disc Golf course on the new baskets we have purchased.
Also, Because Lunchtime is a smaller course with just 15 holes, rather than limit the size of the field to 60 players, we have decided to play this event in groups of 5. That will allow us to accommodate up to 75 players, and since the course plays pretty quickly anyway, I doubt this will slow things down too much at all.
Also, I have heard through the grapevine that as a way of saying thank you to the disc golf community for our efforts, the church has decided to provide lunch to all players in the event.
Schedule:
Check In: 7:30-8:30am
Players Meeting: 8:30am
Tee Off: 8:45am
Lunch: 12:00-1:00pm
Players Meeting: 1:00pm
Tee Off: 1:15pm
Awards: 45 minutes after last card comes in
I will be posting a link to the online registration page here as soon as we have it up and running.

:( same day as Oregon Deaf Disc Golf Association event...I really want to play this event so badly but as part of ODDGA's tradition that we host Winter Open on the weekend of President's Day which falls on February 18th. I had few members asking me to change the event to 19th which I won't mind changing to if it wasn't for Chick Flick monthly. Cannot please everyone!!
I am excited about the new additions to Lunchtime course, and I wish everyone to have grand time playing the new layout first time!! Many Thanks to Stumptown and everyone involved in the Slosh Series for making it happen!! :bowing:

Yes, I have emailed that correction and have yet to see the change. It most definitely is SATURDAY, the 18th.

..I made a donation too though...is it a percentage based fee maybe, not a flat $2?

That is exactly what happened. The online fees ARE a percentage of the whole sale amount.
So for everyone thinking about registering, the online fees for a single registration are about $2.00.
With that said, blue666z, thank you VERY MUCH for your donation to the basket fund.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to the last Slosh event due to work related travel. So, I would like to take the opportunity here on the boards to say thank you and congratulations to Stumptown Disc Golf, Jeff Hagerty, and all the co-tds that have taken part in this year's Slosh. This year's events have been well organized and a ton of fun. I thought it was a nice touch to play a few courses that haven't seen PDGA play ever, or in a long time. The fact that a local course has all new baskets in part thanks to the support of this series is amazing. Thanks again to all those involved.

I just heard from TD Dan Brown that lunch is confirmed!
The Greater Portland Bible Church is providing lunch for the Slosh. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chips, cookies, water, coffee, ect. We should make sure we thank them when going through the line because without the Church's support there would be no Lunchtime course. :yay:

One other item of concern to be aware of is the potential for cold core funnels. Although this remains a very remote possibility... the expected conditions late tonight and Saturday are similar to patterns that have been known to trigger cold core funnels in the past.

This was a great event. Thank you to Stumptown, DGOD, Greater Portland Bible Church, Jeff Hagerty, Dan Brown, everyone who donated, everyone who worked, the food and beverage people, and all the players!
Did anyone find my black Daytona Beach souvenir beverage zipper Koozy? I sure would like to get back my favorite memento from that fun vacation... I had to jettison it before the round near tee new # 11 due to PDGA rules, but when I got back there after the round to retrieve it, it was gone... And I never saw it in the lost & found. Maybe you picked it up and forgot to turn i it in? No questions will be asked... :)

It makes the beer cozy inside it. I'm not drinking anything in a coozy.

Great job, your tireless work paid off for all the players! I'm humbled by all the people who put so much time into making the basket install happen at the final hour. This was a very fun event, with tasty food. I was excited to earn script in intermediate for the 1st time. Thanks for a well run Slosh Finally, I'm happy the slosh funds went to a great success in rejuvenating a classic course.

whatever... i learned to call 'em coozies when visiting my fam down in mobile, AL... where, on the center of their coffee table, was a lovely wooden bowl full of coozies... that they had received mostly as wedding favors... beer coozy = best wedding favor ever...

Jeff, Stumptown, DGOD!, and everybody else that helped... Thank you so much. I have been going to and helping work at lunchtime for a while now and was blown away with how amazing the course is looking. It is really something special to see how far along the course has come in even a few short weeks of really hard work. You guys rock! Seriously though, it does look amazing you guys did such a good job. Thank you very much! as for the tournament itself, it was a lot of fun as usual. I like that we are changing the leaner rule. (always thought that was an odd rule) and congratulations to the winners! I personally had a bad second round and left right after I finished, I wish that I had stuck around for awards and hung out for a while. Especially since Erin won advanced women! next time I won't be so whiny about my poor round. Can't wait until the next tournament!
