The Emerald Valley Open is scheduled for June 27/28th at Alton Baker Park, Downtown Eugene.
A change of venue was in order to play at this unbelievable park in Downtown Eugene. A flyer for the event is coming soon as well as registration guidelines. Thanks for your patience while developing this new event.

I believe this event has been moved to June 27 -28, BUT Andrew would have to verify that.
I also hear of a SWEET location...But again, I'll let Andrew verify that.

Yes there is a change to The Emerald Valley Open. We are moving it back to the weekend of June 27/28th. It will now also be played at Alton Baker Park in downtown Eugene. Permits have been obtained for the fields on the east side of the parking lot. This portion of land also contains the Pre Trail, Cuthbert Ampitheatre and a Tree Memorial. I recently went and walked the whole course with a City of Eugene Park official to get clear on the specifics of the event. Great strides are being taken to incoorporate the course into the park without impacting the other park users. The City is willing to let us play on very prime pieces of land. It is my feeling that playing in these high traffic areas is not in the best interests of all involved. I believe by running a quality event can achieve a permanent course here soon. It must serve to show the community what Disc Golf is really about. This is a great opportunity to spotlight Disc Golf in the Eugene/Springfield area. I feel we are all up to the challenge. More information will be coming soon on registration etc. Thanks

I'm confused by the above. Can you clarify which are the prime pieces of land, which are the high traffic areas not in the best interests to play in, and which are the areas we can try to achieve a permanent course?
Can you also move the tournament to a weekend I am not moving into my new house? :kissflowers: Just kidding, good work!

Land around the ponds, following the Pre Trail. All throughout the most highly used portions of the east end (the land between the Mill Race, Parking Lot, Cuthbert, and Day Island Rd. Mapquest it) These areas are going to be very difficult to play a tournament let alone a permanent course. I am hoping to layout a course that could easily translate into a future course for the region. I would be more than happy to meet a group out there to show everyone around. I went out and laid down flags today...There will be a map soon when I finalize everything.

Thanks Andrew. I am familiar with that part of the park, I was just confused by the idea of a course where it wouldn't be in our best interests to have one because of the high use. I see what you mean now - it needs to be laid out correctly- and if we have a successful tournament that will help show that it can work.

I just wanted to let everyone know I am going to be opening up registration for The Emerald Valley Open this weekend at Great Northwest Open.
I will be taking the first 90 entries I receive throughout the weekend. I will take entries on a first come first serve basis.
More entries will be taken at the Beaver State Fling if there are remaining spots available. I am holding these spots for Regional players who weren't at Windy River to sign up.
Thank you for your understanding on this policy. I am doing so to help give everyone throughout the region an equal chance to play this event.
I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend at Whistler's Bend.
I will post a copy of the event flyer on here for everyone to look at. No need to print one out or email me. I will have more than enough copies on hand at the tournament. Thanks

There is going to be a work party at the new course in Alton Baker Park on June 13th.
This was made possible by a great showing of support from the Eugene Parks and Open Spaces. Snacks and beverages will be available.
The plan is to meet at the East Parking Lot at 9:30 and start working at 10:00. Blackberry, brush removal and fairway grooming will be our main focus.
Gloves and Clippers will be provided for most people but you are encouraged to bring your own as well.
Thanks for all the support in developing The Emerald Valley Open and Alton Baker Park Disc Golf!! I look forward to seeing everyone there. Please contact me if you have any questions about how you can help.

PS. Don't forget to bring your discs. We will be playing a round AFTER work has finished around 2pm. This is going to be the first chance for everyone to get a preview of the new Alton Baker course. Baskets will be appreciated but object targets will have to suffice if we don't have enough.
Thanks

That would be your best bet. I do not believe that he was having any ONLINE registration.

any word on a list of players drew?
i know this is a tough tourney to make for travelers as there is no camping available (that i know of at least) so if anyone wants to post up a tent in my backyard, you're more than welcome to.
i live downtown so it'd be easy access to alton baker... send me a pm...

Let's see...using an often under-utilized technique called reading for comprehension I was able to discern that Dr. Zaius was asking for an update of information and that the thread he was perhaps unaware of didn't contain any of the info he was looking for, and I was able to do that without coming across like a tool.
BRILLIANT!

Agreed. Apologies for that post. I broke my own forum rule: Don't post when you're cranky. You'll regret it in the morning. :)
I hope that the tourney is a success. The lack of info from the TD would (did) make me nervous too.
