Saturday
Disc Golf or Die at DGOD - Ace or Die
ABDG Misfits at Dancing Cows
Eastside Crushers at Chain Damage
Ace Holes at Go F*ck Yourself
Oregon Disc & Wildlife at Chain Smokers

Sunday
Rockwood Roughnecks at Darkhorse

The average SSA out at Trojan is 53.46 so we will play with 10 Ratings Points per Stroke. We will get started with Captains Setting Lineups at 8:30am and tee at 9 am. We are a long way from food at this course. Please bring your own with you so you do not make others wait for you to get lunch. Season is winding down to the last few events, let's get all our players out to the matches and win some match points!

You know what would be cool? Fixing the standings spreadsheet so that the schedule is accurately reflected. I thought we were beating Team Skinny next. Today I find out we are beating Griplok next. I mean... that's fine... but it changes who I am rooting for in other matches.

Sam- Feel free to root for The Discrupters against Team Ninny.
It will only hurt a little and it's what you need to move up!

Sam
January 18th, 2012, 01:14 PM
Nope. I am hoping for a tie. I would never root for you to win, Wes... unless I absolutely had to.

Wes Hansen
January 18th, 2012, 01:23 PM
That's another area where we differ.

You could always root for The Discrupters as a team to win, but root for me to lose badly and maybe hurt myself while I'm playing and lose a lot of discs in the water and run out of gas on the way home.

Sam
January 18th, 2012, 01:33 PM
You don't understand. We are currently tied. While I want Team Skinny to lose, I do not want Discrupters to win. If you tie and Putt This! loses and we beat Griplok (given), we move into a three-way tie for first place at 3-4-1.

I thought I saw the word "never" in your earlier post.

I like it where we win, everyone else in our division loses and we vault to 1st place. It's just a good Cinderella story after last year's pain.

I could even go with a Discrupters AND OES win. I'm just nice that way. A two way tie for first going into the last week.

----------------

I'd like to publicly thank "OTH" Bob, "Caveman" Claude, "Quiet" Kevin, Harrison "I still need a nickname" Hogan and Melissa "The Giant Slayer " for coming together to keep The Discrupters alive and kicking after the team's rough first year last season. We may not be a bunch of great DGers, but what we lack in skill we try to make up for with determination. You guys make me :D.

You know what would be cool? Fixing the standings spreadsheet so that the schedule is accurately reflected. I thought we were beating Team Skinny next. Today I find out we are beating Griplok next. I mean... that's fine... but it changes who I am rooting for in other matches.

Well, since this is the first year that all of the spreadsheets are interlinked. I had to make some copied match sheets for each week through the end of the season. I did that during the week we played Team Skinny. So all of the blank match sheets show the Visitor beating the Home team 7-6 with the matchups from the week we played Pier. Now I could spend the hours needed to make each of the future match sheets look at the correct matchups for that week, but really I am trying to spread that work out over each event so I do not burn out.:headbang:

And since every single OTHER spreadsheet I made has the correct schedule in about a 100 places, I slacked on this one. You want to see the schedule of who plays who each week, try nearly any tab in the Master Ratings file...

You asked why you were getting shit from the dg community and I told you why.

Personally, I love everything about that course, even the home-made baskets that are being replaced. That's why I've spent so may hours on the mower out there. I've played that course through many different layouts over the years, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't listen to some constructive ideas about the layout. But the way you went about the entire thing was bound to get you some bitter words pointed in your direction.

So reach down low, un-bunch those panties and move on.:kissflowers:

No need to worry about me my friend, for when I start a flame war I always go commando. I am also quite familiar with how these boards work. Someone posts an idea or suggestion and the rest of the trolls and vultures pile on with personal attacks and insults. I was not surprised or upset with the responses, it is par for the course. I am actually surprised there has been so little response. I am still waiting for a couple regular trollers to pile on. As for my approach I was just following the pattern set here. I am actually enjoying this, and am looking forward to the next personal attack.

You know... it's funny. Many of us have put in a lot of time and work into Lunchtime. When you talk about personal attacks, perhaps you might want to consider the crap coming off of your keyboard as such because it was definitely taken that way by some people.

By the way... how many courses have you put in or even worked on? It is really easy to criticize when you have the time to sit on your ass not doing anything for the DG community, David. Playing hero by going and getting our lost discs will give you some cred but when you say stupid shit, you throw it all away.

Oddly enough, there are other courses in Oregon that are not having Festivus next weekend. I know that that is crazy to think about but I am fairly sure it is true. If Trojan is going to be a mess - and I am guessing that it will be - we should find another course to play TDG at. Suggestions would include but are not limited to: Cascade Gateway in Salem, Willamette Park in Corvallis, Keizer Rapids in Keizer or several other courses we have already played this season. Pier? Milo?

I want to cast another vote for ROOSTER.People, people, people!

There aren't enough holes on either the east or west course for TDG. Let's say we have the all doubles matches play one course while the singles matches play on the other. With 10 teams there are 20-25 singles matches per round. This requires 10-12 holes which neither course contains. Ghost groups are an option, albeit crappy. So are 6-somes, but that sucks too.

For the reason outlined above, Jordan will absolutely not play TDG there. This issue comes up every year when it's time to make the schedule.

That's one of the joys/trials of TDG. We really have had a great season of weather and maybe it's time to pay the DG gods.

Bring on the rain and flooding. (Which discs float? T-birdy driver and either Aviary or Darty? Anyone have an extra for rent?)

But I reserve the right to complain, whine, excuse, rant or otherwise lament the water, weather, lost discs, bad throws, wet feet or other circumstances I find momentarily annoying. It's all worth while because of the good throws, friends, fun- and the chance to take over 1st place!

I really hope it dries up and is nice Sunday.

I have a couple of ideas for a new layout that avoids the waterlogged holes.

One layout needs 2 baskets and the other needs 4 baskets. I cannot be there on Saturday, so you will have to pull it together yourselves or play the wet holes.

For Sunday, we may play the 4 extra basket layout as I have secured 3 of the 4 baskets needed already, and no, Mr Poke-The-Bear, we will not be using your bastardized basket.:shooting:

I would like to hear from the Saturday crews as to your ability to bring and set up extra baskets so I can have a map on the back of each scorecard again this week.

Pease give me a PM if you can bring a basket. Most of the rivers are cresting late today and tomorrow. the last time i played trojan, was over 2 1/2 years ago. i lost my favorite putter that day, the first putter i had ever bought aswell as the first dye job i ever did. I did not have my name or number on that disc. i was deeply saddened.
but! this weekend, after my horrid first round at the slosh, i found it waiting for me at tourney central! it just so happened to find its way back to me the weekend before i am being forced to (yes forced) play that treacherous course again.
I believe it is an omen of my coming victory over the old bad and saggy.
did i mention that Sam Gibson was the one who found it and turned it into tourney central? What cruel irony that the same putter he found and returned is going to eviscerate his team. hand the executioner his sword, bend over, and ask for forgiveness.

So true. I've had to straighten a few players out on this rule. Any unique marking is sufficient.

So, the question remains then... do all of a player's "unique markings" need to be the same on all of his discs?

If what you stated was true then any dyed disc is effectively unique, but that does exactly nothing to confirm who the disc actually belong to... which I believe is the entire point of the rule to begin with.

I throw a few discs that have Hemmerling's name on the back. They are uniquely marked, not with MY name per se, but you cannot deny that they are uniquely marked.

I think that until the rule states WHAT unique mark needs to be on the disc we have to go with the broadest interpretation of the rule.

Besides, there are enough tough rules in disc golf. Do we really need to sweat the small stuff.

Thanks for noting that difference G-man! And actually the tee pad will be the from path where it lines up and points directly back towards the entrance road giving us the longest 'tee pad' we can get from the path.

Since this is a fairly long hole over water if you take the straight route, I would like to use a drop zone on this hole. The only OB on this hole will be water and the paved entrance road (so if you throw over the road pavement you are still IB but need to throw back without going into the water...) and if you go there off the tee you proceed to the drop zone. We will use the path where it is pointing straight at the basket (after the curve around the water).

If do not have the arm to make it across the water you may throw around the water or you may say you want to take the drop zone instead. You will be throwing your 3rd shot from the drop zone but at least you didn't lose your disc in the water!

I will work up a hole by hole OB list tonight and make that available for the weekend.

Jordan,

There is a concrete "teepad" (actually, I think its a slab for a picnic table, but whateva) at the tree-line, halfway between Basket #16 and Tee #17 if you wanted to use it for a drop-zone. I had considered using it for ORDGC, but decided I'd rather make em throw it again :p

it is possible to be on the far side of the ditch and not in the water or on the road. But to get to your disc you have to walk out of the park at the entrance road and all the way up the hwy to where your disc is. way too slow play.

from the tee there are bushes and trees along your right. you have to go around all of them on the left before heading to the basket. it can be hard to tell if a disc makes or misses if it is close. you should send a player to stand down there to spot. it can save time if shots go over the berm and out of sight.

Sure, usually the covered areas that are on cement were treated as OB, but I was feeling magnanimous at the time. If your disc gets kicked over there, just play it where it lies as that area is not TC during the winter and it's highly unlikely that anyone will be there.

May we please have confirmation of these summarizations:

Item 1) Beyond ANY road or path or parking lot (assuming mando made) is safe, except hole 1 outside the fence, or in water. - please confirm

Yeah I didn't like the hole 1 wording either so I changed it on the scorecards. It is shorter to list what is in bounds than list all of the ways you are OB. So on hole 1 you are only IN BOUNDS if you are on the original hole 1 fairway or inside the fenced area. And as a sadistic add-on, anytime you land OB you go back to the drop zone. So if you drive the green and your putt sails OB you head over to the drop zone.

Other than that, outside the park itself, i.e. over the hwy or railroad tracks is OB. But you could throw over the entrance road on lots of holes (13-18) and assuming that you are on grass you are shooting from where it lies.

Item 2) ON all paths is safe, except while playing holes 3, 5, and 7. - please confirm

Yep! Hole 2 path is weak OB and I almost didn't use it on hole 5 since most times it doesn't come into play. hole 6 needs a safe way around the water and hole 8 has enough water OB already and we're not using the multiple cement pads as OB. hole 10 there are too many near the green. i go back and forth on hole 13 but decided to be nice. hole 17 i treated like hole 6, it needs a safe way around the water.

Item 3) "So, if I land ON the path while playing hole 3, 5, or 7, I am OB, but if I land BEYOND the path while playing holes 3, 5, or 7 I am SAFE?"

"Of course you are, see items 1 and 2 above" - please confirm

Yes, unless you are in the water as well as beyond the path. this isn't the ORDGC. and it is winter. Clear as mud now?

We need your support more than ever this year to grow and build our community. Stumptown is going to have a huge part in constructing and getting a new championship course in the ground at Blue Lake, and all proceeds from Stumptown go into funding work parties, new baskets, and course maintenance.

Thank you for a great round Jeff. Next time I hope to putt :headbang: and we may have had a closer match.

By the way what was the best afternoon doubles? Lankins and I shot a -6 in the beautiful windy and rainy afternoon round.

Thank you Jordan for another great TDG day!

It has been brought to my attention that Brea Kwan's back nine in the afternoon was a very respectable 35 and not the Trojan trouncing 25 that got entered in the scores. I really like the new USB 10-key but it hasn't produced the error free data entry I was hoping for.

I have corrected the scores and it changed the Saturday PM round rating moving the SSA up to 56.05. So the posted round ratings will be off by a few points. I'll try to remember to repost the corrected files soon.

All 4 rounds out at Trojan averaged an SSA of 56.54 and should have been played to 9 RPs/Stroke by the chart. It would have only effected a few matches, but I will be checking this every week.
