View Full Version : 5th Annual Chick Flick 2012 -Aug 4th-5th Horning's Hideout
LegoRules
January 9th, 2012, 09:16 AM
This years event will take place August 4th & 5th at Horning's Hideout.
Tournament Directors Cindy McMahan & Celeste Scandiffio
If you're a first time disc golfer or have been playing for a while, this is the event for you. Learn the basics of disc golf from local women & select men: drives, approach shots, putting, and trick shots. This is a fun, casual event where you can learn and practice disc golf skills with women from Oregon and Washington.
Your entry fee includes: player pack consisting of ladies performance shirt, 2 new discs, pint glass with the Chick Flick logo, mini, towel, commemorative bag tag + more, lunch Saturday & Sunday provided by our title sponsor Next Adventure, golf day use fee for Saturday & Sunday, camping Friday & Saturday, Saturday includes clinics, and a casual fun round, Sunday two 18-hole PDGA sanctioned scored rounds. Script or cash & trophy to be awarded to Open, Advanced, Advanced Masters, Grand Master, Intermediate divisions. Trophy only to be awarded to Recreational, and Jr. divisions.
Also our title sponsor Next Adventure is putting up a $300 Next Adventure gift certificate for an ace pot (an ace is like a hole in one). If more than one player gets an ace then it will be split. Update: Since nobody hit an ace at the Chick Flick Women's Global event that $100 gift certificate will roll over to the 2012 Chick Flick making this years ace pot $400 in Next Adventure script.
We will also have a glow course set up for Saturday night for those who would like to play causal fun round of glow golf. Also there will be a raffle, ring of fire, and other fun activities. Sunday there will be two PDGA sanctioned rounds followed by awards and payout for the top finishers.
Guests can register for the event as caddies which includes: t-shirt, golf day use fee for Saturday & Sunday, lunch Saturday & Sunday provided by our title sponsor Next Adventure, camping Friday & Saturday.
This year we will have two camping spots. One will be designated loud & one quiet.
The loud campsite will be the same spot we have had the past two years down below tee pad #14 of the canyon course. Remember cars are not allowed down there not even to drop off gear, so you will have to cart your camping gear from the parking area which is the field below the fairway of #17.
The quiet campsite will be up by #1 of the meadow ridge course. Again cars will not be allowed in that area, so you will have to carry your gear to and from the campsite.
Also NO FIRES WILL BE ALLOWED!! The fire danger is just too high this time of year.

If Brianna does not want her lunches (mine!) and I do not want another t-shirt, is there any reason to sign up as a caddy?

Awesome Nate & Brianna. The caddie fee covers camping two night, and day use fee for Saturday & Sunday, lunch Saturday & Sunday plus a caddy tee-shirt. If you don't need the lunches or tee shirt you can pay the Horning's fees yourself, and that is perfectly fine.

Randy has asked me the same question in the past. Are you planning to camp? Camping fee is part of the caddy package. Even if not, you'll have to pay the Horning's daily admission fee. If you aren't camping, and don't want food, then I suppose it's a savings. When I've gone, Randy figured it was nominally worth it, if nothing else, to have access to food and drink during the days. If it's hot, and you're caddying, it's nice to have cold drinks on the course, and not have to carry your own along.

A golfer from the Portland area came into the shop yesterday and seriously praised the use of Cat Nip oil (can find at pet stores to spray on their toys) as a natural bug repellent. I am def going to try, but probably only while outdoors and making sure to avoid my friend's house with the crazy kitty. He says it works better than any type of repellent he'd ever tried before. Worth a shot :chinscratch:
I hope you ladies (and gents) have a great weekend! Wish I could be there, but alas... sigh... I have to work :seeya:

I could scale it back but unless I could get all into a back pack it would still be too much. Two back surgeries and old age just don't cut it anymore. Think I got something figured out though.

Hey Chick Flickers and Caddies,
With the Chick Flick just a few days away we wanted to send an email to answer some questions we have received. Sorry this is wordy, but please take a second to read it. Also if you signed up for another player or caddie please pass this information along to them.
It's going to be HOT. Please bring a water bottle for your round. We will not have water bottles available. There will be some water available on the course but be prepared with the water you think you'll need as it tends to run out quickly during hot rounds. There are faucets available to fill your bottles before the round
Checking in for players/caddies/guests: Please check in when you arrive. Each player needs to check in herself in order to pick up their player pack Check in is at the big tent by the practice basket. You'll see it, don't worry. At check in you can pick up your player's pack, wristband for camping/lunches, purchase raffle tickets, and ask any questions you may have about the weekend.
Check in will be available Friday night from 5:30-7 PM, Saturday 8-8:45AM, and Sunday from 8-8:15 AM
Camping locations: General group camping is available below hole 14 on the canyon course. Quiet camping is located near hole 1 of the Meadow Ridge course. You must park your car and carry your gear to the spot (100-300ft) you can not drive into the camping area. Space is limited in the camping areas. Please place your tents as close as possible to other tents. Make a new friend if you arrive late and don't see an obvious spot.
EVERYONE IN THE GROUP CAMPING AREAS NEED TO HAVE A WRISTBAND. SEE TOURNAMENT CENTRAL FOR THIS.
Below is the schedule for the weekend. It will also be posted at tournament central. Please be on time for the players meeting Sunday morning and come to tournament central to sign up on a playing card. Keep in mind that the Sunday rounds are PDGA tournament rounds. This means that PDGA rules need to be followed on Sunday (we will go over these). This also means that in order to respect other player's concentration needs, young children and dogs are not allowed on the course. This is only during the Sunday rounds.
We will have schedules at tournament central. No need to memorize this.
Schedule for Saturday, August 4th
8:00 – 8:45 Check-in, Registration, and Clinic Sign-Up at Tournament Central
8:45 – 9:00 Player’s Meeting at Tournament Central
9:00 – 9:35 Clinic #1

It was nice to meet you this weekend. Me and Sophie and Una had a great time. You made the ring of fire awesome! Also thanks for your encouraging words on my high floating putting....Blue shirt with black putter if you don't remember :) I didn't win anything but had fun. It was our first time doing it.
But we did cash in on the raffle....got the mini basket for our daughter maddy...throwing the mini's in it all day today. She was soooo excited. Can't wait to be her caddy someday. It's cool seeing you and your dad together and makes me smile waiting patiently someday to have my chance with her that your dad has with you ;)

Jeff, this is great to hear! So, does that mean your wife will be playing as well? Chick Flick has a way with people...I remember a noob named Cindy McMahan taking my forehand clinic at the very first Chick Flick Tournament five years ago...look at her now!

Hey Cindy,
I haven't seen any post about the number of women at the tournament or what that number meant, are you not going to crow about it?

We have been crowing all over Facebook because that is where most of the ladies hang out. You are right though we should do a little crowing here too.
Here is an awesome group shot from the 2012 Chick Flick. We had 109 ladies take part in the two day event, and 102 of them played in the PDGA rounds on Sunday. That officially makes our event the largest PDGA women's event ever!! Look for a write up & video of our event to be posted soon.

I think she is hooked. She loved it at chick flick! She can't wait until the next one. She wants to start a league down here for just women and I'm just encouraging her the whole way. I haven't gotten her to sign up yet for another tournament....but we have played more as a couple which is a great thing. A family that plays together stays together. :)

Thanks, to all who helped or contributed, it was a very good time!
There is no doubt, that event has been a big help in Allisons' game.
She is going to play in the tournament here in Shelton today!
And I know that would not be happening, if she had not been to Chick flick!
