I know it is several months away, but people are already making plans for this event. This will be a huge tournament with over 800 players on 14 different courses.

I am planning on attending, and I know Oregon will be well represented. :yay:

I am looking at booking my lodging soon, and I am going to start watching the flights.

I can't wait this is going to be one epic disc golf adventure.

Charlotte Worlds is gonna be da bomb. Played worlds there in '97.
Id suggest that you putt in a Sauna for at least a month before hand though.
:rolleyes2:

Temps were 100 w/100% humidity EVERYDAY. :puke:

I'll be going...I'll probably do a house rental, or get in on one, like I'm doing for The Memorial this year.

Sleeper pick to win is Michael Johansen... unless he's playing masters
He designed most of the courses and he is sneaky good.

Nostalgia pick is Climo because most of the courses will favor accuracy and shot making over power...

Real pick is Nikko, from afar he seems to work harder than the rest of the top pros and he is going to win a world title sooner or later.

I am planning to go as well, I like the mixed Am/Pro formats. I will not be able to fly in until the Sunday before due to a wedding I am in on the Saturday but I should be able to preview a few courses before the Tuesday Start.

I am not willing to make any picks but I would not rule out any locals for the win at this one.

Flights booked! Hotel reserved! DBJ will be going to Worlds to represent Oregon in MJ2! Im so proud of him and all the hard work he's put in over the last couple years. For those who dont know, Danny is also(to name a few) an Honor Roll student, a video game wizard, a sports encyclopedia, and a scrabble master! If you play words with friends and you want a shot at the champ, let me know!

Huge Thanks to all the guys on team Chain Damage for supporting Danny on his quest to be the best! It means alot to both of us!

Thanks for letting me gloat! See you in Charlotte!

That's awesome. Matty has been hitting me pretty hard to go to Worlds, but it's just not in the cards for us this year. You can bet we'll be cheering Danny on from here.

we're going... we got our flights booked for $375 including tax....

that was after having an alert set up on Kayak for weeks and the price broke at 3 am... if you dont jump right away, you don't get the deal......

with that being said, nate and i are still homeless once we arrive. we would prefer to go in on a house with a group of people instead of paying $80-100 a night for scarce hotel accomodations... if anyone has any ideas or plans already in the works we'd love to get in on it. hit me up!

tear it up in charlotte, girl!!! i'll be watching and rooting for you!

Anyone tried their PayPerView?

Also, good call from the earlier poster who bet on M. Johansen as a sleeper pick...tho would Cameron Colglazier be the 1st major winner with a PDGA # in the 40k's?

Good luck Edge, Jessie, and the rest of the NW reps

Anyone tried their PayPerView? ps
No. In fact, I demanded a refund on my "lifetime membership". It turned out to be worthless, much like the alleged "lifetime PDGA membership".

Jason Philips
July 19th, 2012, 01:07 PM
I agree with you man, I love the coverage they have provided but at this point I paid for a membership that essentially can't be used on the most important event of the year. That to me was pretty underhanded.

Scott
July 19th, 2012, 02:43 PM
Was it ever indicated that lifetime membership = free broadcasts?

Jason Philips
July 19th, 2012, 03:35 PM
In the beginning it was implied. Pay for a membership and get to see all the epic battles while supporting the web page. Just because it isn't written out in black and white does not discount how they colored it.

Was it ever indicated that broadcasts would NOT be free? No!

This was grossly disappointing. It's Livestream. Were it better technology or they hired professional commentators (Love ya, Rebecca!) that would be one thing. Oh well... at least I got Steve Ganz to change the refresh rate on the live scoring from 10 minutes to 5 minutes today. That seemed like a minor victory, anyway... :)

Well Im not bitter about having to pay a little ($7.95) more on top of my lifetime membership to watch some of the worlds. I was a little taken back that it would cost more at first, but it is still inexpensive entertainment to me. Small price to pay to watch some of the best in the world compete in my opinion.

Sam do you think "Livestream" would have worked in the Clackamas River Valley?

Sam
July 20th, 2012, 11:44 AM
No... probably not, Scott. I mean, it is dependent on a WiFi connection and that is pretty limited out there, I believe.
