Thanks John. I knew it was here, thank Mr. Stengle for persuading the mods to give us our own hood.

I was kind of attached to the old thread and its 20,000 views!

Checked out the new format webpage.

From 2011 season - I really liked what was done with the results graph with the two axis listings. It was quick and easy to see who's played who, total points, as well as how the matches turned out. So much info in such a compact space!

Sweet site, fellas!

Missing WA team disc (a little, the big league a.k.a OR TDG is pretty epic),

Eric

p.s. I don't see the date on the calendar where the Oregon champions* play the Washington champions

*whoever wins the Sunday league

Not saying it is possible, but if the winners were on board, what course would you propose WA-TDG and OR-TDG winners meet at?

I cannot recall a course between Trojan an Steilly off I-5 that has a good 18?

The idea has always been to have a TDG "Superbowl", a WA meets OR kind of event for TDG. Maybe this is the year. WA TDG doesn't have our finals until April 7th, so it would be after that sometime. I will run it by the WA captains and see if there is enough interest to start the talks with Jordan.

I propose Shelton Spring's for the Superbowl. It is the newest, baddest, course between Portland and Seattle.

jdinteg
December 10th, 2011, 11:55 PM
That seems really far for the OR team, and very convenient for the WA team. Good luck selling that one to the OR team, I'm apprehensive it will fly.

I would guess the driving distance is within a few miles comparing Seattle and Portland to Shelton, so the driving distance would be too close to give a "local" advantage.

Which course would you suggest?

MAYBE MAKE IT A DIFFERENT VENUE EVERY YEAR........ONE IN WA AND THE NEXT IN OR AND SO ON. EVEN GO AS FAR AS PICKING THE BEST PLAYERS THAT PERFORMED THROUGHOUT THE SEASON TO REPRESENT OR PICKING ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM THAT CAN MAKE THE TRIP. JUST IN CASE THE WHOLE TEAM THAT WON COULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE OTHER'S VENUE.

ITS A GREAT IDEA..........MAYBE SEND THE TOP THREE TEAMS SO THERE IS MORE PEOPLE SHOWING UP AND PLAYING TO MAKE IT A WORTH WHILE DAY.

Spider Dan,
I like that! Like an All Star team North vs South. Question is, do we have an accurate way to line up ratings to keep handicaps fair between WA vs OR?

Yardbird
December 12th, 2011, 04:14 PM
The ratings to be used could be worked out fairly easy to be accurate and fair.

Since, the NW TDG Superbowl would be after the regular season. The individual rated rounds for the regular season could be used to create an average.

The rating guys from the Wa TDG and OR TDG could get together and compare rating systems to agree on the Player's Handicaps to use.

I would be willing to represent Wa TDG to help calculate the handicaps.

We just need to see if there is enough interest and comittment at the end of the season to field the NW TDG Superbowl. Three teams from each league would be great. Even an all-star team would be cool.

Trojan would be one good option to use. A course a little bit more North would be better.

Gosh, and we thought setting a Washington finale date was tough...

I think it may prove difficult for any one team (let alone 3) field a playable team from the limited roster spots were afforded. With the way its set up, there wouldn't be much room for conflicts - if a team was to compete as a team, like they did in the regular season. Especially considering a 2+ hour drive, late spring full schedule, etc

But I like the Washington team golf all stars v Oregon TDG all stars idea mentioned above. ok, they don't even need to be "All Stars", since its handicapped anyway. Maybe "selections" or draw, from those that can be available, or something.

Some way of fielding a team to play. Could be tough to weed out a sneaky end-around bagging, if one was determined to do so, but in a best intentioned world, it might have some opportunity.

It is important to me! The sooner we have the rosters, the sooner we can establish ratings for everybody. The sooner we can do that, the sooner the captains can establish ratings for players that don't have any.

Thanks Dan!

Good work Skookum! I like your idea.... could lead to a MVP for teams and over all. If the criteria was set up quick we could take donations of schwag for a prize to the "Top Dog", I would put-up a Champion Whippet X for the winner.

Ok well worked with Chris tonight and got everyone updated. Of course looking at the data brought up some question the team will address over next few days and maybe have few changes for next event. (or not) (or will) (....)

MVPs would be cool. Either team or league or both.

Hmm could use the data to create an AllStar team to take on Oregon.

That sounds great John. I will make an announcement to round up some sweet plastic for prizes. Last year Dan Lilly donated a whole stack of USDGC Roc's!

Yardbird

Last year I donated a stack of Cryztal Buzzzes and Challengers.

This year I have a stack of Glow Buzzzes that I plan to hand out as awards for the player that had the hot round at the previous event.

More donated plastic will equal more prizes that can be awarded.

Of couse, it should rating based.

Looking at the data from Sea Tac Event, two players shot rounds that were 40 points above their respective Handicaps. Sandbaggers:nahnah:

Based on those SSAs, the ratings points per throw will be 10.

BUT............, not sure if the layout will be the same as last year.

Stay posted for the official rating points per throw number.

We will have to wait and see how well the conditions improve come Saturday. I don't think Chris will make the call any earlier than Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully the roads, parking lots and tee pads will be free on snow by Sunday for the obvious safety reasons.

It would be great to play some winter golf with a little snow in the mix. I can hear the excuses now. "That snow patch on hole 7 cost me the match..... My disc slid past the basket by 40 feet because of the ice."

"WA Team Golf cancelled for this Sunday at Riverside. Please pass message on to everybody you can" texts Chris Gilberts. Haven't been able to get over to Riverside yet but I'll check out the damage tomorrow

The Fort took some weather damage and a 4-wheeler joy ride traffic. Hopefully we will be able to do some major clean-up, chain sawing at Fort Steilacoom so both courses will be ready for next weekend. Group will be there around 9am on Sunday to get some work done. Everybody is invited!

Took a walk at Riverside today and it is in very rough shape. First the good news, all the baskets survived! There was a lot of close calls though. Now for the bad news. Four very large trees came down on 15 & 16 fairways. 100's of large branches are down everywhere else. Somebody cleared the entrance out but the county is keeping the gate locked for now, probably for safety sake. A few "widow makers" up in the trees need to be tended to. Bunch of us will be at Steilacoom tomorrow at 9am to start cleanup there, do our best to be ready for next weekend.

Players' Handicaps have been updated for the Steily Event.

The Handicap sheets have been revised to show the team match-ups for the event.

Also, the bottom of the sheet has a section for the Captains to fill in with the W/L/T results of each round.

Captains need to return it to the TD at the end of the Event before leaving.

The Captains (in a team match-up) can determine which round that they want to be reponsible for in turning in the results.

I am interested/curious about playing on a team (need more info)

from what I understand, all skill levels are needed?
if so, I guess I would be able to contribute to a teams score (especially if your skill level will be improving all winter?)

however, I do understand its possible that all the teams may have all their spots filled (or someone else in mind for those spots) already.

I have a lot of free time in the winter!
so I thought this would be a good way to kill some of it!

http://www.watdg.com/ Here is some info for you. Things will be a little different this year, but you should be able to get the jist of it.

There is a team from Shelton, the capt. is Chris Auseth. You can contact him about joining. There is also a team from Oly, I am the captain. I will be choosing my team from the people that are doing the most work on the new course. I would guess that you would be in the running based on work parties attended. We can talk more about it on Oct. 14th.

I guess my next question is do you need to be PDGA?
Because I think I could figure out my handicap from my scorecards from Shelton springs.
And the few other courses I have played.

Yardbird
September 25th, 2012, 06:55 AM
No PDGA requirements. Non-sanctioned.

As for a Player's Handicap, the team captain will be responsible for establishing one, as needed. The majority of the players have established ratings (Player's Handicap) from PDGA events or past TDG events.

If you have played in a PDGA event, let your captain know to aid in establishing a Player's Handicap.

NO PDGA or TDG rating? The last PDGA event of the year is the Chilly Smack Challenge at Fort Steilacoom in December. Players, with no other ratings, can use their round ratings from that event to establish a starting Player's Handicap for Team Disc Golf.
