On hole 6 there is a mando to the left of the big fir trees near the corner of the tennis courts. This is to keep you from throwing over the tennis courts. Please do not throw over the tennis courts. Also there is a creek bed on that hole that is played OB. If you land in the creek bed then you go to the drop zone on the berm near the big fir trees where the old ted pad used to be going the opposite direction. As usual on or beyond any path that you do not have to cross is OB. I think that would apply to holes 1, 2, 3, 4, maybe 5, 10, 14 & 15 and maybe 17. Hole 10 has a double mando between the trees. Hole 11 tees from OB and you are not in bounds until you cross the path to the left. If you do not make it IB on your first shot you must take a drop from the IB side of the path where the first tunnel shot opening in the shule on the left starts. Except for the OB & mandos on hole 6 & 10 these are the same rules we played by last year.
:shocked:But I have a serious dilemma about how we are going to play the course SSA. we have played this course 4 rounds in TDG. And those SSAs go from a low of 50.72 to a high of 60.54. The 09-10 average SSA was 51.79 while the 10-11 average SSA was nearly 7 strokes higher at 58.66. So I am at an impasse for how to set the SSA for this event. Should I wait until I know the weather a little bit better? Set one SSA for nice weather and a different SSA for high winds?:chinscratch:

The Discrupters look forward to playing Old, Evil & Sassy.
There are all kinds of people on that team with whom we will enjoy the pleasure of their company while we beat them. If anyone on OES would like to be beat by a specific Discrupter, please let me know and I will try to accommodate your request.

Word on the street is that there are a couple of OES team members that fear Discrupters so much they won't even show up!!!!!:nahnah:

Jordan, I think 11 rating points per stroke is fair at NB. (did I say that right? I'm tired!)

even counting on your toes you should have enough time to figure it all out if I wait until I think I have an idea what the weather may be. as long as it isn't nasty we will probably go with 10 RPs/stroke but that may change if the weather gets bad.

How do I get into the files? I have a yahoo account and everything, however still can't access those files.
1. Make sure you are logged into Yahoo. If the upper left is not showing you the link to Sign Out then you are not logged in.
2. On the left hand side in the blue box click on the Files link. This will not be a link until you are logged in.
3. In the middle click on the folder for this year and then the folder for the week you want.
4. Click the filename and your browser should offer to download the file.
They are excel spreadsheet files so you need a program that can read them. M$ Office Excel or you can use Open Office to read the files too. Open the files to see the data that I provide each and every week.

I often encounter a weird, stupid bug (?) on the Yahoo group. (I run Firefox on Win XP.) It will show that I am logged in, the button will say "sign out". However, the link for Files is dimmed, and won't "click."
Annoying solution: Log out of Yahoo (click Sign Out), and log back in. Now you are at the home page for Yahoo (annoying), and logged back in. However, now when you visit www.teamdiscgolf.com, the links for Files actually work.

Jordan,
After this week's math is done, any chance of an updated/corrected set of Rules?
From your PM from today and several weeks ago, it appears the current rules are out of date.
I'm very excited to have a full team now, but the rules appear to have changed where that is less important than last year.
A clear 9 to 5 victory appears to have become a 6-6 tie.
Well, at least we are off our losing streak.

Well any rules prior to the 2010-11 season would have some serious rules changes as the 5th Singles Match isn't even IN those rules; but I do like how you skew prior rules to include the 5th Singles Match to your benefit and come up with a bogus 9-5 victory (which would be an impossible score under those rules...). Well played sir!
The 6-6 tie isn't a certainty yet until we can double check the scores and see how the total strokes tie breaker comes out. Only if we win that tie breaker does our match come out a 6-6 tie. If you win the tie breaker then you would win the match outright 7-5.

I was looking at the rules in the 2010/2011 folder. Latest set of rules I could find.
It didn't indicate the 5th singles was not included.
I'm just trying to know the rules... and win a match.
(I think 8-5 would have been the result, not 9-5- my bad.)
I thought the point was to benefit from having every team member present.
Now the secret is out... only bring 5 against the Discrupters and have a better chance of not losing.
(Insert appropriate smilie to indicate good-natured $h!t giving, but with an equal measure of respect!)

BTW- Even tying your team amounts to a victory for The Discrupters.
And my apologies to The Dalles and NB folks. Those are very nice courses!
LOVE the new NB layout... that's a great looking hole down by the river.
Chains worked great... whenever I actually hit them.
I think crappy weather and lack of sleep/illness are my excuses for last year's opinions.

Out of the rounds actually played, we were 3 points to 2 points in the morning, and 2 points to 3 points in the afternoon, correct? Then we had a man sitting out each round, which would gain a point inherently for Discruptors each round, no? Making it 4 to 2 in the morning, and 3 to 3 in the evening, for a 7 to 5 point split in favor of our team?

a match consists of 4 single and a doubles match played in morn then again in afternoon. playing the 5th single each time is voluntary if i remember right.

most teams do because sitting out sucks.
Wes Hansen
November 7th, 2011, 09:38 PM
HH and ALL,
No. The 4 singles and doubles are mandatory. The 5th singles is a possible bonus.
I didn't understand the current rules... mostly because I hadn't been in that position before and the last published rules do not reflect the latest changes.
(I have volunteered to retype them.)
I do think the rule should be that the 5th singles is also worth a point, but that is not the way the rules are currently applied.
It does seem to favor having one team member not show up in the AM, or have to leave early, if you don't think your 7th player will match up well. Then, I think, you can still get the 7 man point and not risk losing 2 points.....
????
(The powers that be are hard at work on the weekend scores, so I think/hope The Commish will wait until tomorrow before clarifying any confusion.)

Ties are popping up all over the place. Not just in individual matches but in whole matches. 11 individual matches this week ended in a tie. While 6 of the 20 teams have a match that ended in a tie.
This week Chain Damage won the match point over Dancing Cows by the total score tie breaker 569-576. Chain Damage had the only 7 player point for the 7-5 victory. Old Evil & Sassy won the tie breaker over Discrupters 641-647 but didn't have the 7 player point so the match ended in a draw 6-6. Defending Champion Darkhorse had the closest victory 550-552 over Putt This! and also didn't have the 7 player point and another match ended in a draw 6-6.

The trend I'm seeing is that as close as these matches are, won or lost by only a stroke or two indicates that the rating system is working. Everybody has a chance on any given day to win or lose. Yay Team Disc Golf!:yay:

You're right. It's in cell D21 of "Week 2 Scores.xls" at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/teamdiscgolf/files/2011-2012/Week%202%20North%20Bonneville/ . Says 1025, should say 985. Updating it gives Camo the win in round 2 and changes your match result to 11-4.
1) I will let Sausage Fingers know, and he will get it updated. Maybe if he had something more slender to type with... :smash:
2) We are working on automating the completion of that rating field, such that it will basically fill itself out. Not only will this further reduce workload, but it will also eliminate that particular source of possible human error. :cheerleader:

It takes time to double check that all of the data got entered correctly and it really helps us catch errors if everybody checks their own scores each week.
Did the posted scores match what you had figured out at the course?
If it didn't, what seems different?
Can you spot an obvious error and bring it to our attention as soon as you can?
These are the things that can help us fix errors before it snowballs into a major headache.
