That could've been a much funnier bashing of disc golfers, they left out some key stereotypes I would've really liked to see thrown in that apology video.

However, I think it's great for disc golf.

After all, any publicity is good publicity, just ask Pamela Anderson, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, all of the Kardashians, Micheal Jackson, OJ or Bill Clinton.

I can't believe you guys are taking this so seriously, I guess some of you are very naive. I didn't see the show, only the "apology" and I found it amusing. I think it's great that they would make fun of our sport on TV. There was once a saying in the music business a long time that you knew you made it when Weird Al made a parody song based on your song. I'm not a "grow the sport" or get Disc Golf on TV advocate but I would say that any publicity is good publicity. If I still haven't convinced you then take this into consideration: Disc Golf be around long after this show will be and no one will remember this in due time.

Frisbee golfers also do many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many other things too. I'm sorry someone didn't talk to these two ahead of time (or had them watch a PDGA video or two) since these "many" other things-doers like to research what they act. ha!

Yes, of all the people I listed, the Kardashians are definitely the marketing plan I would love to see disc golf follow. It was a tight race between them and OJ because of OJ's well documented sports career. After all, he ran for two thousand yards, but the Kardashians bringing Lamar Odom into the family really evened things up and then when that Humphries guy came next it was pretty much a slam dunk (pun fully intended). Kardashians all the way! Micheal and Bill never even had a chance.

I haven’t seen this show but if they made fun of disc golf, they probably make fun of a lot of things (as many comedians do). I think this video response is probably appropriate if some overly sensitive disc golfer actually contacted the show and complained. :waaah:

I have to say that reading the comments on this thread from upset disc golfers is cracking me up.

So, following the Kardashian marketing plan, the first thing disc golf needs to do is make a sex tape.

I don't think they were mocking the sport since the sport of disc golf was never really described or even named on the show.

The mocking was directed at DGers who expected great publicity from a sitcom, didn't get it, and then vented their disappointment in the public square.

But even still, you're right, they shouldn't mock us.

We can do it just fine ourselves.

I think the PDGA asking them [Happy Endings] to appologize for their show was a bit like PETA asking Obama to oppologize for swatting a fly. It seems petty. But, the response from Val and Nate was great!

I don't think you guys realize that this is one giant publicity stunt that benefits the show and the PDGA/Disc Golf community. Something fishy about them contacting the PDGA before the show went on the air. Now Val/Nate are in the mix, the stars of the show, etc. Not buying it, all a big set up.

... it doesn't really benefit us, dude... no matter how you slice it... and frankly, the only problem i had is that the damn show wasn't even funny... if it had been clever and totally made fun of golf in a clever and witty manner it wouldn't have bugged me at all... it was just that the show itself is just so freaking awful... and i have a personal problem with people saying "frolf"... it's just one of those words that i don't like... i have a whole list of them...

no, it is not.

... unless you are entirely unconcerned with the impression people have of you and your only aim is that people know your name (or the name of your sport)...

finally got around to watching the episode in question. no problems here, and i thought it was kindof funny actually. Its a bummer that they dissed it a little bit but in the end i believe that the publicity is good.
people are always going to say what theyre going to say and not everyone appriciates disc golf from what they hear about it, at first. Heck. i hated 'frolf' the first time i played it. it takes a while for everyone to learn to love this sport.
i think its a positive thing because make fun or not, "frolf" or "frisbee golf" still being said on national tv. It may not be "disc golf" like we like it to be said, but its still recognition. people who have never heard of it before seeing this show now have. and i dont know how that could be a bad thing.

Wow. I NEVER said anything about ANYBODY loving them. Merely suggested that the same publicity (for good or ill) may help them profit..But your an expert, so I'll leave it to you Sam.. Where was it you got your degree in marketing again?

I think what Happy Endings did was fine. No, I didn't think it was grade A comedy, but it was comedy none the less. It's nothing to take to heart. Plus, like others said, this type of publicity is good for the sport. I thought the apology clip by HE was funnier then the show... but what Nate and Valerie did was a great response!

I had never heard of the show before reading this post. I wish I could go back and still not know it existed.

Watched the episode and in general think the show is crap. The comments during the episode weren't really much one way or the other, but follow up video was insulting. What will amuse me, is when I'm on a course and hear the show has been canceled, courses and people playing will endure, the show is headed for the trash heap.

What is the big deal about having disc golf on a sitcom? And how did the mighty pdga get duped? When all they wanted was some free prop's for the half wits on the show. Did they ask for any history? The correct name? Looks like two steps forward three back:cool2:

I can't believe nobody is as moritified as me because of the way this show portrayed disc golf. Because of this, I have decided to give up the sport and get into something the public will view as a little more mainstream. I am thinking polo.

I had to watch this episode just to see why this thread would go to 3 pages.

The show is kind of funny and is a rehash of other sitcoms. It’s another show that makes fun of EVERY subject during the episodes.

The funniest thing to me is the overreaction by the disc golf community (including some people on this forum). Grow some skin people and get over it.
