I'm saying that the term "sandbagging" doesn't really fit the situation of age protected proffessional divisions.
Age-bagging, maybe. It's thread drift anyway, let's talk about the tournament!
Can we PLEASE play the courses mostly as they were designed and as we play them all year long? Less hay bales, less rope, more good old fashioned disc golf on a well designed course? It's a bummer every year when the courses I travel to play in tournaments are in their basically normal configurations but when it's my turn for some home cooking I have to play a bunch of unfamiliar holes with added OB and obstacles.
Clearly, this has been holding me back and has forced me to continue sandbagging year after year. I'm NOT bashing, I'm asking, please?

Ok---slow down the wagon train!!!!
There isn't a problem----
Emma and Cindy----you two went by the default which was open and by open---I mean open men.
David---you did sign up for advanced masters but I thought you should play pro. Really---when Terry uploaded it to PDGA, he dumped it in the wrong place. It's getting fixed.
As far as Warren goes---he signed up his daughter with his name. Again, its getting fixed.
Now see---nothing terribly wrong. You guys just worry too much!!

Dexter is a well designed course and I'm very happy to play it in all of its usual glory....However, adding in some extra rope (OB) and/or hay bales can turn a well designed course into an exquisite championship caliber battle field. I know that talk of last years set-up such as the crazy Cottage Grove #1 placement still comes up during cashual rounds as a "wicked and crazy cool" change that was made. Everyone faces the same challenges, so I believe they are fair. Just wanted to play to the alt placement...

OB lines are a real bonus at times.
Provided they are used in a consistant manner (and not laid unsecured on the ground.
By tieing them to a stake they become visibile from a distance and can't easily change because of wind or a toe grabbing them.
Wasn't #1 at CG that easy roller thru the rock pile onto the "island" green? That was a good hole.

August 23rd, 2011, 07:28 PM
Hey Sam,
It is in fact "The Disc Golf Guy" here on your board. Unfortunately I can't keep up with all of the awesome stuff your area has going on but what I can do is offer awesome, online, registration service with my site, www.iRegisteredOnline.com.
I started the site a number of years ago and seeing how I've been playing for nearly 18 years and running events for about 15 of them, I am constantly tweaking my sites for improvements. So far it seems that the Eugene Celebration users haven't had any real problems. Best part for Rebecca (and all other TDs) is that you basically get 24/7 event and tech support from me if you use my site. Oh, did I also mention that IRO will be sending out some prizes to be given away at the event where only IRO users are eligible?
Ok - enough promoting my own site and services! Back to work on my video blogs, www.youtube.com/thediscgolfguy - shoot, I just did it again :)

Sam,
So glad that you liked the site! It isn't 100% perfect just yet but we have been used from events spanning Oregon to Florida and California to Pennsylvania. If you love the user interface as a player, the TDs should love the back end set up even more! I really reduce a ton of work that many TDs are faced with using other services.
The best part about the site is that once you sign up, you simply just have to log in for future events listed on the site. Details like your shirt size and PDGA number are automatically fed to each TD so you never have to worry about including those. You also don't have to enter in all of your information time and time again.
Lastly - PayPal handles ALL financial information and my site has NO access to your credit card information what so ever. We never see it, touch it, or store it simply because we can't. PayPal accepts credit cards OR PayPal balance it works for everyone.
Sorry for the long-winded plug but I'm very proud of the site and look for it to continue to grow and improve.

I like the site too, well done sir! :trophy:
There is one corner case that I was not able to navigate.
I was attempting to register (and pay for) one of my buddies for the EC via the site. Given that all the meta-data (pdga #, shirt size, division, etc..) for an "order" is tied to the users profile, I was not able to register and pay for someone else. Is there a way to accomplish that when logged in as yourself?
Rebecca
August 25th, 2011, 11:27 AM
Just a reminder that you have to be signed up by September 2nd to guarantee yourself a shirt.
Also, there will be camping. I'm working on providing a space for camping but there are plenty of campsites near Dexter.
The lake is poison so please leave you animals that love to swim at home so they won't be tempted. This is the worse that I have ever seen the lake. Fall Creek is right up the road so if you want to swim---that s the place to be. Poison free.
Please get registered asap.
We have a title sponsor, "Greener Side of Life" -Organic and Hydroponic Gardening.
REI has just donated $200 worth of items for the Celebration plus discount coupons in every player's pack---wow.
www.iregisteredonline.com not only has been keeping updated lists for everyone (and made my life a whole lot easier) but Terry is also throwing some goody's our way.
We have some great prizes and all the players packs will be in the reusable Innova bag from the Worlds.
We are still looking for sponsors so hit me up.

Thanks for the kind words Bryan.
There are really 2 ways to address your concern and a 3rd (and best option will be implemented down the road).
1) Create a new account for your friend. Yes, you'll have to create an entire account on their behalf but assuming that you or others will have to register that same friend for other events, it might not be that crazy for them to have their own account that others use to register them with.
2) Use your own account but put whatever notes you'd like in the comment box while in IRO. There is a text box where people commonly put things like, "For my friend Joe, MPM, PDGA XXXX, Medium Tee Shirt" or whatever. That exact note is sent to the TD and that's a great way to register a friend.
3) EVENTUALLY we'll finalize the 'sub-account' feature. It exists but hasn't been perfected just yet. What that will allow you to do is create 'children' sub-accounts under your profile. Again, you'll just have to set up your 'child' once and then they will always be on your profile. We all have those friends that you are constantly registering for events anyway so this will be a perfect way to do just that. The best part is, your friend Joe Blow could be a 'child' account under 10 other people so anyone of you could go in and sign him up.
I hope this helps out. Also, I didn't stress that tech support for my site can come to me just about anytime. I'm a night owl kinda guy so if people send me a text, e-mail, or phone call, you'll likely get a quick response. Sadly enough, disc golf IS my life and I'm committed to making IRO a great registration service.

Hey Danial,
I got to the bottom of the problem. When you created your IRO account, you accidentally put the wrong PDGA number there. Therefore, when a TD downloads their event info, it would pull that number in. I went ahead and adjusted it on your account permanently so if any other TDs in Oregon use IRO, your account will always come up correctly.
I've also adjusted the PDGA number on the PDGA Pre Registration page as well so now you should show up correctly.

Question: What is the name of the course in cottage grove and is there somewhere I can find directions to it?

Local Directions: I-5 to exit 174 (Cottage Grove). Head west off the exit on E Cottage Grove Con. Take the first right after the bridge on to OR-99. After about .2 miles you will see a road that goes under the train trestle, turn right on to it. Continue back towards the large bridge and look for a parking lot to the left. First tee is near that lot.

I talked to Rebecca today and she said that there will no camping at Dexter. Parks people still won't give in. She did say she is still working on finding a place that group camping might be available.
My advice? Start calling local campgrounds to see if something is available.

I hope it gets answered soon so that those of us who have paid for the tournament already and are making the trip on a weekend when most of the hotels will be full will with silly little Ducks' fans do not have to cancel and go somewhere else. :)

Dexter Shores.

They've got a nice little tenting area with fire rings and picnic tables.
Quiet, under some little firs, and within walking distance (just across Hwy 58) from Dexter.
Make reservations.

Thank you, Jim. I made my reservation there about 3 hours ago. Two sites no longer available...

I don't think camping has been available at the course for a few years, has it? I can't remember, but it seems like a couple at least. What have people been doing when this is the case? I think last year a lot of people camped at the private campground across the street? There's also a bunch of campsites in Fall Creek, and further up along Hwy. 58.
And I'm not sure, but I don't think hotels in Eugene fill up for early season games against weak teams, but I could be wrong.

Not sure what the story was last year. Two years ago, we got a deal at Dexter Shores through the tournament, I believe. Three years ago we camped at the park.

Last year there was no camping at Dexter, the year before there was. I camped there. :D

Not sure what the story was last year.
Last year we were told, pretty late in the game, that no camping would be allowed at the course [insert grrrrrr emoticon here].
So we basically rented all the camping spots at Dexter Shores.
But Dexter Shores was pretty strict about the numbers of campers/vehicles on each site, and the need to keep quiet hours after 10 or so since there's a number of long term renters there.
We didn't have any complaints mainy because Marx Ramirez stepped up to play both good cop and bad cop based on the emotional needs of whoever was stepping out of line.
If you head over to Fall Creek (just north of Lowell) you can find Cascara campground on the south shore. That'd be closest to Dexter. There are also campgrounds if you drive on the north shore of Fall Creek reservoir but they're a bit farther out. Otherwise you need to drive towards Oakridge for 15 miles or so and there's several campgrounds up there.

****Camping****
As you may have figured out, Dexter is out of the equation. Rebecca IS still trying to get a spot reserved behind the Dexter Lake Club. She will find out more whether this will work or not tomorrow.
In the mean time, if you want to book a place to camp you can look at: Dexter Shores (right across the hwy), Fall Creek: Cascara Campgound (across the bridge just north of Lowell, 47 sites), and any number of campgrounds up Fall creek (Windberry, Dolly Vardern, etc).

Also, if you are in a pinch, I have a house with a nice yard in downtown eugene that I am more than willing to open up to anyone who would like to set up a tent. Many of you know me (but many may not). My name is Will Larson, I am the secretary of the EDGC and I am helping out with much of the tourney this year. We can accomodate at least 5 - 8 tents in a secluded back yard in the Whitaker. Please PM me if this sounds of interest. Ninkasi is but 3 blocks away. :biggrin2:

Now I am evolving from asking questions to asking for out and out favors: Is there any ams who might be willing to give me a ride after the morning round from Cottage Grove to Dexter? I'm happy to pay for lunch on the way for the lift. If you know me drop me a pm (hell, even if you don't). As an addendum, I am hoping for someone who is planning on getting to Dexter pretty quick as I'd like to walk the course and play as many holes as my old arm allows before round two.

Shouldn't be a problem getting a ride to Dex from CG after the morning round.
I know I'll have room and won't need lunch. Just speak up during the player's meeting or after the round.

thank you both for the offers. If I''m playing out of my skin I will speak up for sure.
I'm excited to be competing with some very familiar faces and names. As I will be playing Cottage Grove blind, if anyone is up for a few holes and walk of the course around 730 sat morning you'll find me at tee 1.

****Camping Info Update****
Rebecca has confirmed an official camp spot less than a mile away from Dexter State Park located on Lost Creek Road. She wanted me to inform anyone that plans on camping there to give her an email to reserve a spot (and to give her an idea of how many plan on using this option). It will be $5 and you will have access to a porta-potty. She will let you know exactly where it is and what other amenities there are when you get in touch with her.
Her email is camocreekrods@msn.com
Again, if you would rather camp in town for any reason my yard and bathrooms are open for friday and saturday night as well. please pm me if interested...

ADVANCED MASTERS AND ADVANCED GRANDMASTERS
You will be playing in the Pro Pool which means you will be playing Dexter on Saturday morning.
You will be playing Cottage Grove in the afternoon on Saturday.
You will be playing Dexter Sunday, late morning. Player's meeting at 11:00 AM.
I have called everyone in these divisions except for Jub (because Edward said that he would pass it along) but this is just a reminder.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Also, I've only heard from one person interested in camping. I need to know because I am not putting a porta potty there for one person.
Let me know asap.......

Thanks again to Rebecca and the EDGC for another great Eugene Celebration. In my excitement at finally winning the EC and wanting to make fun of some duck fans I dropped the ball and forgot to mention how awesome Leland played in the final round. His 6 straight 2's on the back nine took the lead from me and I was sure it was going to be another 2nd place in Eugene. Had a great time battling it out, even though it was super stressful watching Leland park hole after hole. Thanks to all my group mates for 3 great rounds, I am really happy to finally have a Eugene Celebration title after so many years of trying!

The staff here at iRegisteredOnline.com noticed that the ratings seemed a bit off so after contacting Rebecca, we went in and updated the PDGA site to correctly reflect the various pools playing various layouts over the 2 day span. Now the 'unofficial ratings' that are posted (as of 2:20PM CST today) should better reflect the performances from this weekend.
Hats off to Rebecca and the rest of the staff that pulled off an amazing event (from everything I've seen and read).
