I don't yet know if I can make this event, but I'd like to throw out a big cheer of support. This was by FAR, the most underattended event I played last year, the courses were fantastic! The tournament was run very professionally, they gave us food, everyone was really friendly, and I hope that word of mouth support can help do a better job of filling this event this year. I will do my best to attend.
Also, just a note, on the website, to see the flyer you have to scroll over the registration button and click on the mail option, hitting the registration button takes you to last years flyer. Took me a minute to figure that one out.

I'm really looking forward to playing in this tourney! I've heard a ton about the hyzer pines course but have yet to play it... Hopefully people start jumping on board and sign-up!

Hey Ryan, Are we responsible for making individual reservations at the campground? I'm just guessing that we may need to be on top of that since it's Memorial Day weekend.

Well put Joshua, and I agree wholeheartedly... This was a great Event and deserves to be full! Sadly, I won't be able to attend this year. :(

I think you better be early to get a spot at the campground. There's also a mountain bike race in town that weekend. They are limiting the race to 500 people!
From their website:
"And camping sites are available in the city campground near the start/finish."

Westys can park wherever they want, but it might be worth the mile long drive down the road for some companionship. We have a primitive (free) group camp area just across the road from the Cold Springs (http://hoodoo.com/deschutes-national-forest-or/sisters/cold-springs/) campground. Yes, there are showers in the Coffield Center which will be open in the mornings around 7AM.

Yes, there are plenty of good hotels in Sisters. It's a pretty busy travel weekend and most of Bend is sold out already. We called around to check on rates in Sisters, here are your best options (both within a mile of the course):
Ponderosa Lodge: From $134.99
Sisters Inn & Suites: From $79.00
Also, plenty of Rebels would be thrilled to host a Gausnell trio at their house. Are you scared of getting dirty at the campground?

Made reservations at the Ponderosa today, thanks for the info. My brothers can't get the :cop:wardens:cop: to let them out for the weekend. Camping in the dirt never scares me, I'm bringing me a hot date and want to get her in to a hot tub. Scotty and I won't be leaving until Saturday morning so we just need beds for one night. If a Rebel wants to put up with 2 Misfits for a night speak up and save us $134.99.

Schedule - If we end up with 64 or less we'll just have one flight of players with all playing 2 rounds Saturday & 2 Sunday. If we have more we'll stick with the 2 flights and all Amateur Divisions will play 2 rounds Saturday/ Pros play 2 rounds Sunday. If you will be joining us, but are not on the pre-reg list please dial now to secure your spot.. Thanks! :p

Hey Ryan, if we have just one flight will the schedule for tee times change? I guess we could eliminate those early morning rounds in favor or playing late morning and afternoon. I could also see that we might not know how many will play until the day of...(depending on late registration)

Scott and I planned on driving over Saturday morning since we had the afternoon round. If it is one flight I guess we will just have to leave at 4 am. I'm not complaining I would just like to know if it will be 1 flight or 2? if that is at all possible?

With as much daylight as we have now I am in favor of starting round 1 on saturday around 11 or noon and round 2 around 4 then maybe like a 10 am start on sunday would be cool, could do a final 9 or something after for pro lead card and maybe an adv lead card too, we would have plenty of time, and those are always fun to play in and watch

Hmmm... That didn't stop Adam Cooney or Rachel Benton from qualifying.
I think you just need to think outside the "Bend".
You should consider coming out here for the event anyway... you're tall and we can always use a good spotter. :)

Funny cause Coos Bay is as far away from anything as Bend is and doesnt stop us from traveling to Oregon series events, or 4 hours to sisters for this one.
The schedule for the weekend looks great. Cant wait for this, you central oregon guys need to make sure we get some warm weather though..

Not sure if there is an official Doubles or not Friday, but some of us are trying to gather people to play 5pm Friday Random Doubles. Should be a good turn out for the Random Doubles on Friday and WILL be an amazing Tournament!

Hyzer Pines baskets are in the 1st round layout positions. Enjoy.
My 2-cents response to Jeff & Scott:
1) Just because people in Central Oregon travel to the valley for tourneys does NOT mean that they are not at an inherent disadvantage at those tourneys, or at qualifiying for the ORDGC in general. 2 qualifiers each at Whistlers & Milo (2 courses I love btw) is a huge advantage for people who live near those courses (think home-field advantage). There is big difference betwen playing at 4000' (or in the mountains) and playing at sea level.
2) Coos Bay is not a good analogy for a couple reasons: a) Coos Bay/North Bend has a much smaller population than Bend/Redmond/Sisters/Madras and I don't believe there's even a tourney-worthy course there; b) Coos Bay is easily twice as close to Whistlers as Bend is to anywhere in the valley (its a 3-hr drive to anywhere assuming GOOD weather). In other words, no matter where you live in the valley, there are at least 2 qualifiers within a 60-90 min. drive. If you live east of the cascades, there are zero qualifiers within twice that drive time...
Just to clarify, I'm not necessarily saying that things NEED to be changed, I'm simply pointing out that Magilla makes an excellent point (as much as it pains me to agree with him).

In MOST divisions...YES. IF Ryan Lane were playing and not running this event, Id put $ down on him, as he destroys the course most days.
With the Baggers that abound in ADV AMS its a tough call but Adam Cooney will be right up there at the top.
Do we even have any Masters AM Baggers in Central Oregon?? I think not. Well maybe 1, but he's in Cali currently.
:rolleyes2:
Hopefully the weather will cooperate, if not the locals will definately have an advantage after this years Winter League play. :whistler:

Regardless...Its a Ryan Lane run event..what more could you ask for.

Agreed...last year's tourney was very well ran and the course was pretty sweet. The altitude definitely takes some getting used to, so I agree that locals will have an advantage off the tee. I was on Cooney's card last year when he aced, that was some sickness! Looking forward to chucking in Sisters!

All I can say is if you haven't made it out to central oregon or up to one of the mountain tournys you are missing out. This was a first class event! Hot breakfast and lunch both days, lots of fun extras, we played four different layouts on the course (thanks to the basket moving crew), and the prizes were awesome!
Ryan and crew, you out do yourselves as usual.
I played 3 rounds with Colin and I knew he was going to be tough to beat when he shot 20 (-7) on the front nine in the first round! Played it like a gentleman the rest of the way. I got it down to a two stroke lead with four or five holes to go but never got closer than that. Congrats also to Shane, another young pro in oregon making a name for himself.
thanks everyone, it was a great weekend
