Is it possible to just give Vapor trails the victory. That way they do not have to drive to Milo just to find out a bunch of a-holes did not sow up.

Hey big winds helped end the three peat!!! Well it will be a good championship, last time we played it came down to the strokes. Plan on it being windy we will bring the wind to Milo. Told you not to count the winds out.

Yay! Awesome! One team can't bother to show up in any numbers and Big Winds gets to go to the Championships! YAY!
I hope that next year, teams that have shown poor representation at this year's events - and I can only think of one team that consistently failed to represent - are turned away. Nothing personal... just sucks that the season was determined by one team's delinquence.

:angry:Thank you Sam. Those words sum up my team's thoughts on this matter perfectly. We did nearly everything we could to win the division--seemingly for nothing.:waaah:
Ok, I'm done whining. I'm super proud of how my team swept the second round. You guys kick ass and deserve to be playing for 1st in the finals in my book. Well done. :trophy:.
Thanks again to Jordan for putting on the best reason to play disc golf in the cold for another awesome season. We owe you big time! :bowing:

Jevon
Your missing the point. He showed up!
THIS GBP feels the same as to what Sam stated. And probably everyone else on my team will agree with that as well. If you don't show up to play you don't deserve to play the following year.
How many times did AC have 7 players...6 players... ok how about 5 players? Then after morning round how many AC were there still to play 4...NO. How about 3..NO probably just 2 will stay :headbang::headbang::headbang:
That is not TEAM GOLF.

I will agree with the statement that our team does not deserve a spot for next year, due to our attendance this season. I was more referring to his point of rolling out a red carpet for BW to roll into the finals. This is a SEASON, not a one day tourney...
The only weeks we did not represent well were Milo, Timber, and Trojan.
Sam
February 9th, 2009, 11:09 AM
Yes, but how many matches did you not show up for in any numbers? You were all there against us and beat us. You had a poor showing versus at least two of the three teams that beat us - one at Milo where the excuses were plentiful and one yesterday where I have seen no excuses, just a vacuum where a team was supposed to have been.
So, yeah... your team's CONSISTENT lack of attendance hurt our team and other teams. Had it been a one day tourney, your team's poor attendance probably would not have affected us at all.
As for my attendance, our team got the seven member bonus point yesterday. Did you guys get the seven member bonus ever this season? Oh wait... you did against us, I believe. Just awesome.
jevon
February 9th, 2009, 11:26 AM
We lost to GBP by 8, and BW by 10. WSS won by 5. YOU guys BEAT us by 3, VT beat us by 3. Where are these big numbers you speak of? How many times did you get the 7th man point?
I didn't realize that you were the excuses police. We had people out of town in a National competition. They thought that was more important than disc golf. I hereby remove the Assholes from consideration for next years team selection.

kudos to you Jevon for showing up when you know your team has no shot, mostly because of lack of numbers. It happened on my team last year too.
This year I cared more about team attendance than the wins. Our whole team I think felt that way and we had a warm fuzzy team feeling all season.
It does suck that final standings came down to attendance, but that's part of the TEAM challenge. I think you're talking ish to the wrong guy though (the one who showed up).

Yep, Yep, I was in the same boat as Celeste last year. Maybe more so! Anyway it was soooooooooooooo cool to be wiith D&D this year. We may not of won as many matches as we would have liked but I can guarandamnteeya we had one hell of a time losing. :chug:

We lost to GBP by 8, and BW by 10. WSS won by 5. YOU guys BEAT us by 3, VT beat us by 3. Where are these big numbers you speak of?
We beat you by 3 and you lost to GBP by 8. That is 11. We beat you by 3 and you lost to BW by 10. That is 13. Either of these numbers do for that big number I was speaking of. Had you guys shown up and actually played against either of those teams, we would be playing for the championship, I believe.
How many times did you get the 7th man point?
I think every time but the time we played you, actually. That means we had 6 for 1 event and 7 for 6 events. I believe that that is how it should be for ALL teams.
I didn't realize that you were the excuses police. We had people out of town in a National competition. They thought that was more important than disc golf.
Yeah... the only issue I have with that is that all of the teams knew the schedule beforehand and if it was clear you guys were going to have so many conflicts, you should not have taken a spot from a different team that might have actually showed up.
I hereby remove the Assholes from consideration for next years team selection.
Well... you don't have to be THAT way about it... but thank you. I, for one, appreciate you recognizing that your team did a poor job of showing up - regardless of the excuse.
Hopefully next years' finals will not be determined by a team not showing up so many times and the best team will win - not just the team that got the benefit of playing a team that didn't show up.

Let's not drag our victory through the mud TOO much, please. Thanks.
So, we took a lot of points from AC, but remember: there were 6 points that AC could have taken from us had they won the match-ups. They didn't. They took 1 point. We got the other 5. Oh yeah, plus our "free" points. But hey, who's counting? :waaah: ... Didn't we win some other rounds too? That's right. To GBP I believe (8/3) as well as to a couple others during the season. ;) Oh yeah, and we'll bring it for the last-dance at Milo.
It's been fun everyone. Looking forward to many more years worth of Team Disc! Thanks for everything everyone, especially Jordan.
Ciao for now,

Hi everyone:
I wish that this hadn't ended this way. I enjoyed Team Golf and liked very much the rounds I played with some of you. My sincere apologies to everyone who feels as though our team ruined their chance to play in the finals (however attenuated that chance may have been).
See you at Milo,

It's always about YOU, isn't it Sam? Maybe if YOU would have played better YOU could use that argument. If YOU would have done better all season long, YOU wouldn't have to rely on other teams to get YOU in the finals...

Jevon, your teams' lack of attendance wasn't the whole shebang, no... but are you seriously sitting here and trying to say that your teams' attendance DIDN'T affect the outcome or negatively impact our team and others?
And... about me? Pretty cheap, Jevon. I think I have made it pretty clear that this is about you guys and not about me. Yes, it might have been WSS or it might have been GBP or it might have still been Big Winds... but the truth of the matter is that we will never know for sure, now, will we?
Honestly, had it been me and my team that did this, I would be abashed and apologetic and not try to make more excuses or deflect from the issue being discussed.
I don't mean to be a dick about this Jevon, and I apologize if I am coming across as one. It should be clear that while I am - per usual - the most vocal about this subject, I am clearly not alone in stating that this bothered me as members from each of the teams affected by this have stated their angst, as well.

And... about me? Pretty cheap, Jevon. I think I have made it pretty clear that this is about you guys and not about me.
Umm yeah, except for when you were using us and you and how our points affected you throughout the season as an argument. And how we kept you out of the finals by our play. "You were all there against us and beat us. You had a poor showing versus at least two of the three teams that beat us"

I'm sure many people were pissed, as I'm sure I would have been too if I was in a different position. Just remember, if you would have gotten just one more point each week, yesterdays match wouldn't have affected you now would it.
To the entire field of Team Disc Golf,
I apologize for the attendance record of Asshole Casserole for this past season. I am sorry if you feel it impacted your team in any way.
Is that better Sam? Frankly I don't give a damn either way. I was there every week except for one afternoon match at Milo. I had a great time this season. I will see everyone in two weeks and I will still enjoy playing and I will have a smile on my face, regardless if I win or lose.

I don't believe it was the attendance as much as the lack of winning points. We didn't win the points we could have won. True we didn't give ourselves good odds but still....
Uh... the lack of attendance was gifting points to the other team. You didn't do that to our team is all I am saying. You gifted 2, sometimes 3 points per ROUND to our competitors.
Umm yeah, except for when you were using us and you and how our points affected you throughout the season as an argument.
OK... let's say it is about me, then, Jevon. Yes... your affected me when you gave 2 or 3 free points to our competition. But, while about me, it is also about you.
And how we kept you out of the finals by our play.
It wasn't your play. The handicapping system worked such that when you guys played, you did well. It was when you didn't play that affected a lot of the final standings. This should be fairly apparent.
Sure you would Sam... What excuses did I make today? Ummm, none.
Something about a national competition or something. Understandable, but still an excuse.
How did I deflect when I said my team would not be back next year?
You didn't with that. You did deflect from the issue of your teams' attendance by making an issue of my mentioning this obvious fact.
I'm sure many people were pissed, as I'm sure I would have been too if I was in a different position. Just remember, if you would have gotten just one more point each week, yesterdays match wouldn't have affected you now would it.
I do know this. Hell, I personally blame myself for a lot of the reason why our team is not in the finals. I don't think I won more than one singles' match all year.
But... thank you for recognizing why people would be pissed.
Is that better Sam? Frankly I don't give a damn either way.
Actually, yes. It was better. If you would have left it at that and allowed me my belly-aching (I need to belly-ache about something...), we wouldn't have exchanged so many posts.
I was there every week except for one afternoon match at Milo. I had a great time this season.
Me too. I played HORRIBLY this season and had a great time playing golf. Some for the throws but mostly for the very laid back but very competitive nature as well as the amazing comraderie.
I will see everyone in two weeks and I will still enjoy playing and I will have a smile on my face, regardless if I win or lose.
I will be scowling and jumping up and down on a table.
I had a great time at Team Disc Golf this year and do not feel like anyone ruined anything. I merely pointed out a disappointment from this year that I hope can be avoided in years to come. That is all.

Actually not ALL teams got to play Asshole Casserole this season.
Regardless of the attendance issue I can think of 3 ways that we could have won yesterday.
1. Our opponents only had 4 players present. If we had fielded 6 players in the morning, we'd have scored the easy Dubs point like BW did.:headbang:
2. If we would've been on-the-ball we could have put up Cris & Teresa as our Dubs match up in the afternoon. They'd have had no opponents, only had to play one hole and then could have left after that.:headbang:
3. Then the split of the singles matches would never have gone to the strokes tiebreaker. We would've won the match point 6 to 4.:headbang:
There is 3 easy points even WITH our poor play. We'd at least have been able to play for 3rd place...
I may have to step down as team captain (as this is clearly a failure of the captain to run the team properly) next year. I just can't give the time needed to the matchups when I have to get everything ready for the league.:pirate:

You know, listening to all this, mainly from GB&S, I've been reading between the lines and figured out the REAL problem here. Not so fast Bob. The match to watch will be for 5/6th place, Putt This! vs. Green Bowl Packers. We didn't get to play them during the regular season and T-Ry and myself schemed for a chance at each other during the playoffs. I think after the first week, when it became apparent what a time commitment Team Golf was going to be, our team realized attendance was going to be an issue. (I played team golf several years ago, and I was always done by 1 or 2 at the latest--I guess I didn't realize how much longer it would take with the newer format.)
I'm definitely sorry if our lack of attendance had any impact on the final standings. I know I had fun at every Team Golf day I managed to attend. (Except maybe that downpour at Dabney. That really sucked.)
I'm sure Jevon will have no problem finding a new team to play with next year, that is able to attend more consistently.
Cheers to all, especially Jordan, for helping make this a fun pastime.
Kyle - aka, Asshole Casserole Captain.
p.s. - Can't we all just agree that Jevon sucks and leave it at that?
p.p.s. - Here's a thought, Sam. How about, just once, you exercise your right to NOT belly-ache about issues in the past that can't be changed? I think that would be a truly refreshing change.

ESL much? Reading comprehension problem? Perhaps you meant this for someone else? I see my belly-aching being about something that CAN change, Kyle.
Let me see if I can be more clear:
Hopefully, a change will result from my (and others') "belly-aching" and teams like yours who cannot follow through on their commitment to the league will not be allowed to join.

I am not being difficult. I am stating that my belly-aching has a purpose. I didn't say anything about changing anything this year. One must be obtuse to think that I was belly-aching about something that cannot be changed unless one takes the words "years to come" somehow to mean this year.

I would love to see TDG go to this style of scoring next year.
As soon as someone tells me how the 'track style' scoring works in a head-to-head matchup, we'll have something to talk about. And it better have a way to handicap for the full range of disc golf skills because I have no interest in running an event for only the top tier of disc golfers. How can a team with a total rating of 5,555 (793 ave) compete against a team with a total rating of 6,600 (943 ave)? This is the kind of range that we had in TDG this year.
THAT said, I am, and always will, be open to new ideas. So show me how this system works and we can change it for next year.

Jesus Christ. It sounds like we never showed up at all.
We had four players there this last week at Trojan. There were two weeks where we got the 7 point bonus. So, no, Asshole Casserole did not do "it to every team they played except for one."

It may have to wait until the next TDG match as I behind on homework. I will say that handicapping will not be affected, but the head to head aspect of TDG should go as it is the root of the attendance issue......I think....but there may be away to keep an aspect of this.

I have a 6 player team lined up for next year already. Just need a 7th to make it complete. Depending on how the ratings thing works out next year, we might make it. I hope my 2 years in team disc already makes us into the main matchups if this becomes a 2 day league next year. I never say anything but this time I need to say something.Jordan takes time out of his life to come to disc golf course to throw team disc golf together and he works hard at it so to you jordan thank you so much, and lets not forget that this is TEAM DISC GOLF not ok im not going to show up for my team because I want to watch football..... so to the team[LMAO] that didnt show up that much shame on you remember this is TEAM DISC GOLF so next year if you have a TEAM then come and play, and im not saying that if one of your team mates has to work that your team should be put down for that but I know that a lot of your team just didnt show up for no reason :bricks::nono: so enough about that to all the teams this year good golf let's go to milo and play some disc golf
p.s. is the team I'm refering to going to be there at milo???????????:biggrin2:

Like the other three members of my team (AC) who have posted on this thread, I completely agree that our team is at fault for having poor attendance. The last time any of us played Team Golf (3+ years ago), it was very different (seemingly less competitive overall and with flexible timing rather than pre-set matches) and it’s our “bad” for not recognizing that we were entering new territory. But please do not begin to speculate that members of our team were missing matches for callous reasons. We have admitted our error in this and taken the team out of contention for the next go-round. To keep bashing us is pointless.
I was personally able to play at 7 team golf events this year (including the prelims) and I had a great time doing so even if I didn’t get us many points. This was my first venture into “competitive” DG in several years and this thread is sort of a sad note on which to leave again. Hopefully we can just have a good time at Milo in a couple of weeks and leave on that note instead!

As long as I get my Root Beer flavored Slurpee, you guys are aces with me. :)
Seriously, though... I have stated my point and it is a closed issue for me. I do not harbor any hard feelings toward anyone and I look forward to the good time that will be had at Milo and in future years of TDG.

I was really considering going with 11 ratings points per stroke at this venue. But when I added the path & beyond OB it actually made the course play harder than last year even with better weather and cement tee pads.
I am glad that I kept it at 10.
What do you think? Drop the extra OB and go to 11 RP/S?
Oh and congrats to the four 1000 rated rounds out at Trojan!:chug:
