Because we can only except 72 golfers, we felt we could better serve the players by limiting the divisions offered. The divisions we chose, will not exclude anybody from playing.

Is there a way to become a club member other than finding someone in person? I checked the website but it just said find a club officer at the next event you attend. Not trying to be a pain in the butt, but I live 2 hours North of you guys and it's hard for me to get down there but I would love to become a member and assure my spot for this!
Also which pads are being used for this? I want to get to play the black pads (pro pads? :\) as much as possible so I'll play which ever division that is. Again sorry for all of the questions I'm just super interested in this event and I haven't time to play much tournaments this year. I appreciate it! Can't wait to play the new tee pads. Thomas, we are working on getting club member signups online. It hasn't happened yet, but we should have something concrete in the next few days. Keep checking back here for more info.
Most likely, the black pads will be played twice by all divisions.

The Spring's will be in its best shape ever for this innaugural PDGA event. The concrete tee pads will be finished, the rough will be rough and the fairways will be SWEET! It sounds like the permanent tee signs will be in place by then as well!

Here you go Dan, please note, there have been a couple of changes in tee pad placement, I don't think they have altered the par though.

In case you didn't read it in the work party thread our concrete pour this Saturday has been cancelled.
We will still be having a work party on the 23rd to do weed wacking, back filling tees that have already been poured and installing the sign post that have been finish. We will also be setting up the forms the remaining pours that will happen
Monday July 25 @ 3:00 PM and
Tuesday July 26 @ 3:00 PM - THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED TO Wed July 27 @ 3:00 so come early to Dubs and help out if you like.

Not only are they setting the standard in floor covering quality and selection, they will be the premier spot in Shelton to buy all of your disc golf swag! That's right if MCDG didn't already have everything going for them, now there is a full line pro shop moving in!
Shelton Floor Coverings/ Olympic Discs will be handling all of our scrip for the Showdown. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them.

That sounds like a much better idea than a raffle.
Is there any idea to stop the intentional missed short putts to get the pro driving for the next hole. Maybe a payout bonus for top two overall scores?

Everybody drives.

July 23rd, 2011, 06:37 AM
I take that to mean that each successive hole will be driven by all 4 Pros, or all 4 Ams, in alternating fashion? So for example Pros might take the tee shots for all the odd-numbered holes and Ams would take the tee shots on even-numbered holes? I assume that's how it would work, since in skins some pairs don't even need to putt out if the hole has already been won or pushed...
this is an incredibly exciting format, guys. Bravo! I mean come on, pairing the top 4 players across ALL Open divisions with the top 4 across ALL Am divisions?? Brilliant! (specifically, I'm envisioning how cool it'd be to see a lights-out Paul Wright/Jeff Elliot helping a red-hot Mike Werth/Scott Papa/Kurt Bayne take down a $300 skin...)
congratulations and nice work on the latest, greatest sponsor!
SPIDER-DAN
July 23rd, 2011, 04:25 PM
I think it would be more in the line of all four pros and all four ams tee off on every 9 holes then the next shot after that would be in alternating fashion until hole is finished.
For example, S. Papa and C. Gilberts are a team and they both tee off on hole one. C. Gilbert's tee shot is obviously a little better than S. Papa's so S. Papa would then take the next shot from C. Gilbert's lie. Then after S. Papa throws somewhere in a different direction and they spend 2 minutes and 59 seconds to locate it C. Gilbert would then throw from S. Papa's mistake......I mean lie...... and so on and so forth until the final putt is made (more than likely by C. Gilbert). Then on hole two both players would then tee off and rely on C. Gilbert to carry the team once again.
This example in no way reflects any actual disc golf players or how the outcome could be determine. The names in this example is purely fictional and any living persons with the same name would be coincidental and not use in any intentional manner.............:biggrin2:.

You are correct Dan, all players (both Pro and Am) will tee off on every hole. It will play out as alternate shot after the tee.

I guarantee there will be an open division for you, we have had a bunch of new entries into the open division. It would be great if you could pay online. It really helps with the logistic of everything if we have our numbers in line before the day of the event. And BTW, it looks like there is only about 15 spots or so available.

We will be out there all day tomorrow finishing up and getting everything in place. C'mon out and see the course, it is in the best shape it has ever been!
There are still a couple of spots available......

Allow me to be first to compliment The MCDG club for an outstanding tournament this weekend. The Course was simply amazing and challenging, The tourney - perfectly organized and professional. Above all, It was great to hang out and play golf with my cool neighbors to the north ...that is to say, MCDG rocks!
"Showdown in Sheltown" has definately made my "must play" tourney list.
Thanks for a great weekend, and look forward to next year! :)

I echo the sentiments of my fellow competitors this weekend! Excellent job and thank you gentlemen! (and their wives who let them disappear from home in recent weeks!)
Hope to see you all at Whiners in a month where you can relax and play!
Gilbert, I forgot to pick up my Epi-Pen, but I would like it back eventually. No rush, just hand it to any West Sound guy the next time you see one of us. Hope it can give a little "emergency" peace of mind to Mason County in the mean-time.

It was an honor to play such a challenging course and be treated so well. A BIG tip of the cap, I hope you get some rest sir.

I can't take the credit though, I just happened to be the lucky guy/ loud guy that got to do the announcements! Morgan was the brains behind the operation. The guy is a computer wiz, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't require sleep!

FISH
August 15th, 2011, 11:18 AM
Everyone kept asking, so here it is one more time. Take the salmon filet and squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it. Salt and pepper, then some Dill weed. Let that stand for awhile so the lemon juice will break down the spices and soak into the fish. When you place on the grill, spead on the sauce. Just mix half Stone Ground Mustard with Pure Maple Syrup. YEP, it's that simple.
DON"T overcook it!!!!!!

Thanks to all for a super smooth tournament experience. Communications, camping, course conditions, food, and everything else was well planned and executed perfectly from a player perspective.
The course is phenomenal and lived up to all of the great things I heard about it. I enjoyed it more each time I played it and more than any other course I've played. Par fours and fives should be mandatory for all new course plans. I expect some very good golfers to be coming out of that area in the years to come.

How was the "The Shoot- Out” Pro/Am Skins?
Was there any amazing shots / highlights?
Did all eight players get a piece of the pot or did a couple of teams clean house?
Sounds like I missed another great event. Hopefully, next year's Showdown won't conflict with my schedule. ;)

There was some very nice shots and a pretty big gallery. Was an excellent way to finish out the tourney, $50.00 a hole skins.

Final Nine skins - it was actually nice to see most of the nine being standard layout holes (vs crazy safari, there was one(?) safari version of 16). It works at the Springs since the selected multi-shot holes on the course offered some with scoring spread opportunities, good viewing options, and it served as reference for gallery players who played these exact holes minutes earlier.
I know its never good to be encouraged by the challenges of others... but there were comments of relief by many gallery members when virtually all skins players failed to really get out of the tunnel well on 10 black.

The safari version of 16 was because I felt with the double drive format that regular 15, 16, or 17 might anyone of them just be a push hole. but didn't want zero holes to play between 14 and 18 (boring) so 16x was born. I'm not in general a huge fan of crazy safari holes so next year may spend more time on finding the perfect 9 hole DDAS Skins layout. (blind folded from AM 11? I'd pay money to watch that.)

Safari 16 was a wise move. It provided the linkage to 18, and had a serpentine fairway there with the road. It wasn't safari in the "over the tennis court, around the jungle gym, over the bus parking area, then button hook right" kind of way. I agree that 15-17 standard would have pushed.

More often than not it is due to the final TD report/TD Fees not having been submitted before the ratings deadline, which was the 16th of this month.

Ignore JubJub. Hole 18 is a great hole. I played it twice on Sunday and despite the fact that I 5'd it both times, I wouldn't change it.
I should have had the 4 the second time through, since I pimped the drive out to the field, but I screwed up the upshot and didn't leave myself with a putt.

Harsh. I am only getting 10p counting that back, but harsh, nonetheless. I have a PDGA 11ppp on the books myself. Windy River, temp course, can't recall the hole #, but it's all about river right, and road left, trees, and long.

I did give em a break, I wasn't trying to be a jerk, just asking since it has been two updates since the tourney. Thats all. Missing the first one made sense and I was just curious about the second. Its nice to see your rating do stuff since that's pretty much what you pay for with the pdga when you suck like me. I saw the previous post, it was August 30th...figured they would make the other deadline but I guess not. I know how hard they worked, I helped a little, very little, and I do know what they were up against. This is part of why I hate Facebook, email and texting...nobody gets your intent through writing. Your always seen as an ass. I will patiently wait for the next update which will probably not include more than one tourney because that one will be late too I bet. Oh well. And my ratings don't exactly skyrocket. :) I apologize for coming off as a prick.

I dont think you came off that way. Personally I think that part of paying to play in any sanctioned tournament that it should be the TD's duty to post saturday rounds and Sunday finals the day of. So you can look at others in your division and determine what you need to do the next day in detail and what you could have done better in retrospect. As far as finalizing it for the PDGA that should also happen ASAP to get it in to an upcoming ratings update. Hopefully the PDGA will make it easier for TD's to do this with the new improved site they are working on. It's pretty sweet to come home from a Saturday round and see the standings. At the Beaver State Fling I got daily standings in my tent at the campground. I dont hold out hope that this will happen but it's what I expect for any tournament over a C tier that I enter.

Wondering what the issue is that my round ratings from mid-August haven't been noted on this latest November update.
It's quite frustrating to have not seen these scores reflected on my overall rating.
Should I send the PDGA some sort of message? Not a threat, but the reason why I play sanctioned tournaments is to increase my rating.
Again, thanks for running the tourney.
