I am excited to play the GNO this year and am not going to get hung up on silly details that all tournament players should have become accustomed to like pools changing due to field size and registration numbers.

I think everyone who will be playing the GNO is excited.:jumpspin:

Personally if I'm in, I don't care if they shift my pool or not. :biggrin2:

But what about the new player who may not yet be accustomed to some of these silly details.

This talk is only meant to help the cause. :biggrin2:

 42 open players. Freaking awesome.

42 open players geeze that seems like a lot. Hopefully there is going to be enough FW2s for divison. I know their is at least two of us hopefully more than just Ebee and me made it in. Sure hope the full list gets posted tomorrow it is getting hard to stay patient.

DOH, Sounds like a phone call is in order.........:whistler:

Not sure WHAT the issue is with the Reg list online...

I was on the phone with Tom as he was uploading it to the site.

He said he got the confirmation of 161 players uploaded.

Unless I am wrong, the ONLY pool switch would be the Pro Grand Masters to the Avanced Pool.

That shouldnt pose to much of an issue.....:chinscratch: unless some were planning on trying to qualify for USDGC. But that is unlikely. :wink2:

I was told I had a spot if I paid at the OLE by Tom, I registered my brother Colin online the day before to make sure he got in but didn't register myself because I had already made arrangements to pay the next day so I could save on the transaction fee. I paid the exact same time and same way as Andy Hock, I volunteered to serve on the trophy committee for this event and was told by the TD I was definitely in when I handed him the cash. It seems to me this whole thing has been handled poorly and frankly I think it is pretty ridiculous that I am on the waiting list now. I guess I will go to play in Spokane if I have too, and maybe think twice before volunteering with the EDGC again.

I certainly would have signed up on time online, but because I was told I didn't have to I just registered Colin... :pullhair:

Hey Nate. Wait till the final list is posted. If you're not on it, and you're on the top of the wait list, I'll drop out so you can get in. Nobody needs another tired old guy climbing up and down the hills of Whistler's taking bogies. I'd rather see a great player out there instead. It would be a real embarrassment to the EDGC if you're not at that tournament. We'll see what has happened and talk at the club meeting next wednesday. I have no idea how registration could have gone so wrong as to not have you on that list. Then again maybe you are on the list since we still haven't seen it. Hold tight and cross your fingers.

i believe in a earlier post i committed on just this
wasn't nate last years series champ and co-champ before that let alone one of the best in the state or world but doesn't have a right to a predetermined spot in the tournament
this is suppossed to be a professional disc golf tournament(professional),is it not obvious we need seperate tourneys for the sake of more people playing
this will work out for nate but it shouldn't be like this

well sorta some events will really need to be split on diff weekends.

The am's not playing can help with the pro event and the pro's can help on the am weekend...:cheerleader:

I wouldn't worry about taking any one's spot. There are probably 6 or 7 EDGC members that would drop out to give you a chance to play, and that includes me. There are not many people I would do that for, but you are one I would be happy to let play in my place. Still, I get the feeling, like JJ, that Tom will fix this.

Both of those options kinda suck because I was really stoaked to play the whole series FW2, and I belive that Ebee had planned to play all the events FW2 as well. Playing in a different division would cut out a whole events series points. I don't see why they can't just run it so we can get our FW2 points. I have played in pleanty of events where they have let divsions go with only two, and even one. Anyway I guess we will see what happens, and hopefully their will be more FW2s that sign up for the Fling.

There will be more at the fling.

Unfortunately, I don't think that the TD has the option of allowing you to play in a division of 2 according to PDGA tournament standards. Not 100% sure but I believe that that is the case.

This is allowed. It is up to the TD to make the determination however. Hell, we had an MPO division of 2 in November!!!

It has obviously been done before.
2007 GNO had a 2 women division.
2008 Hyzer Pines had a 2 man division and a 1 woman division.
2008 Rose City (Sam?) had a 2 man division.
Should be a no brainer for the TD's to let you ladies have your own division.

2008 Rose City (Sam?) had a 2 man division.

I had nothing to do with this decision as Greg Ruhl was the man on registration point. I believe that this was a result of a scheduling mix-up where two Grandmasters showed up at one course and the other showed up at the second course so an executive decision had to be made on the spot.

I don't mind a two-person division. Hell, maybe I could win a tournament if I could find such a division... :whistler:

I just wanted to take a minute to apologize to Tom and the club for my earlier post, in hindsight I should have dealt with the matter privately instead of airing it out here. With a record setting registration pace miscommunications like this are bound to happen. I got frustrated about not being on the list and let my emotions get the best of me. I know that Tom and the club are doing a great job with the GNO and I hope I will be able to attend. I know how excited I am for this event and Oregon Disc Golf this year and for that reason I can't allow another player to drop out on my behalf because I know how excited you all must be as well. Thanks everyone for the offers. I will register for the Downriver Open in Spokane and keep my fingers crossed hoping I can get a spot in the GNO and ask for a refund. I hope to have fun making the trophies for the GNO with Brianna and again I want to thank Tom and the club for all of their work and apologize for my harsh words.

You certainly haven't been the first to air their frustrations on a public forum and I'm certain you won't be the last. On that note, very few have posted an apology afterwards. This takes a different level of maturity and class. The EDGC appreciates you and Brianna as valuble club members and I personally always love to see you at the meetings.

Ahem... Yose... you reading? :)

1. short - or long. Doesn't matter. We're at Whistlers'!
2. SOWS11 position - deep right - TOUGH
4. turnover on ridge
6. deep right
7. short? - SOWS11 position
8. SOWS11 position - deep right - TOUGH
10. Classic short - miss that hole - want an ace on it!
11. SOWS11 position - deep right - TOUGH
12. Classic long - left and in the hall of trees
13 and 14 (DON'T CHANGE FROM SOWS11! Hope to play the upper pad at GNO!)
15. Classic over the ridge position
17. Classic short - tough birdie or die hole after some good long holes
18. Classic straight and in the trees

Oh, pretty please?

From what I know from playing GNO last year, I liked
7 in the long
10 in the short *the long provided more bogeys but too few birdies* and it didnt help that we didn't know of the change from friday to saturday's placements and was like WTF when I got on 10 tee saturday morning... So put it on short and let it be pretty...
14 - make everyone throw off the top tee heh...
17. Over the ridge! Make it a tough birdie and par at same time..
19. DO nothing that Sam asks for...

The problem with the group camping area is that they get really mad at you when you stumble through their campsites at 3 AM, blind drunk, knock over their coolers and try to crawl inside their tents.

I found that people who camp along the river are much more forgiving.

The problem with the group camping area is that they get really mad at you when you stumble through their campsites at 3 AM, blind drunk, knock over their coolers and try to crawl inside their tents.

I found that people who camp along the river are much more forgiving.

Was that you last year? I was wondering if Robinhood was sleep walking or some other friendly disc golfer needed a place to stay... Wasn't mad, felt sorry you got lost and needed a home for the night...:laughing:

Probably, but life is full of disappointments . . . unless you're someone who has no expectations.

(People with no expectations are never disappointed and often spend their days being pleasantly surprised and often amused by life's twists and turns.)

And no matter what's posted online, pool assignments and players lists are always subject to last minute changes which is why all the players sign in so they can get the latest info.

i love it. every time i look at the weather forecast it gets dryer and warmer. Judging by the two kezi weather jpegs i've uploaded above, the ONE LARGE cloud that was to be covering the sun on sunday is now forecasted to shrink to a smaller cloud that will give way to a larger, more orange sun, with proportionally perfect rays.

If only I could hit the road now! Already packed, and the boss isn't at work today! Jim - if the campsites start filling up today I'm going to need you to do the 3 am drunken tent entry thing a few times and clear some people out.

Speaking of drunken entry - your post inspired me to google "Bill O'Reilly Loofah"....woah! I remember the story but never got that far into the details...not only was he (allegedly) very elaborately describing his imaginary use of a loofah on an unwilling employee, he then started referring to said imaginary loofah as "the felafel thing" whilst apparently using a vibrato device to finish up his business upon himself!

What does this have to do with the GNO? No idea man, but it was a good four minutes of my time and I'm that much closer to throwing off 14!

I got home at 1:30 this morning and Tom and Teresa were at least an hour behind me (they had to pick up Tom's daughter in Eugene on the way up to Portland). There is ZERO cell or internet service at Whistlers Bend & the concept of free Wifi hotspots has not hit the urban metropolis of Roseburg. As I recall, scores were not updated during the previous GNWO tournaments either.

When the scores are posted, note that the first day was played with a few pins in the long positions (1 round for pro/int and 2 for Adv). On the 2nd day everything was put in the 'easier' positions except hole 10 (stuck lock).

Sam posts a comment AFTER THE TOURNEY IS OVER asking if the tourney is full yet.

I quote that little joke and take it one step further. Even referencing the incredible sign-up record that was set by said tourney.

Now class, who can tell me if the sign up for GNO 2010 has actually happened yet?:pirate:

According to extensive studies of the Mayan Calendar, 2012 will be the last GNO. After that who knows? Registration will only be taken atop the main sacrificial Temple of Kukulkan at Chichén Itza on the Spring Equinox. Those without access to Mayan computers will be excluded.

It's not enough that I had to miss the tournament and I missed all (well most) of your smiling faces. I went to see how everyone did and there are no scores. What's up with that?:whistler::waaah:

You guys all know who to contact about this and he does not read the boards.

Perhaps you can give him a call to see what is wrong and if he would like some computer support!

Look for scores to be up around noon on the 30th of April. I also want to thank the aliens who took over my putting in the second round who hit every putt within 35 to 40 feet. I also posted some pix on my discgolfersrus page. Check out the slideshow while waiting for the scores from the GNO 09 event.:yay:

Bruce you need to keep the aliens on retainer... ;)

We got to see several of those big putts, nice job. :trophy:

Personally I think the scores are not up yet because of all the action the TD got those few nights, but what do I know.:cool2: I did not get to make it; just hear about all the grisly details.:pirate:

That makes me think if that had any coloration with the red tent fiasco.:whistler:

Results are up! 2 things I noticed immediately: Nate Sexton is not in the results, and neither is Rachel Benton.

It looks like only the pre-registration list is on there. All of the folks who weren't on the original posting or who got in off the waitlist are missing from the results. Glad to see the round ratings anyway.

One question though - Benton won the Adv ladies division and she isn't listed. Will her scores, once they're posted, affect all of the round ratings for our division? I'm a little sketchy on the propogator thing...

That should impact round ratings for his pool.

I might be mistaken but I don't think that her rating is high enough to be a propogator. I don't think it will affect your division too much.

I'm not certain she has a rating actually - she may not be pdga...

Thanks Sam

I wouldn't worry about these ratings too much, they should change a bit as many people have not been added yet and the pools are not being recognized yet either. The Adv and Pro ratings still match up and we were in different pools playing different layouts at different times so alot of things will still change. Thanks for your work Tom and staff.
Nate

It also looks like the pools weren't split properly... (i.e. Adv who shot on a different course rnd 2 have the same ratings as the pros)

So, long story short... all of your ratings should be different in the official results

I noticed the same thing, in round 2 a par for the A flight should be a higher rated round then a par for the B flight.

Hmmm... If my last round rating goes down, it might very well NOT be included. A dilemma indeed.

Congrats to all the REBELS! Way to represent good ol' Central Oregon! Wish I would've done better but oh well, next time...I see that everyone who wasn't on the results list earlier was added in. A and B flights still share the same course rating for the 2nd round, I'm sure that will be adjusted at some point. I'm excited for the BSF, but more excited about leaving for Hawaii next week! Gonna try to play some disc there at an Oahu Monthly Tourney, anyone have an HDGA bagtag?
