View Full Version : Local TV to promote Disc Golf
Disc Golf Live
March 2nd, 2011, 07:44 AM
The latest episode of Disc Golf Live video magazine can be found online, links included below. We're now posting our episodes online and hope you established disc golfers enjoy the show. But our real goal is bringing DG to TV in communities large and small, all across the country. If you have a public or community access station in town, then you can probably see DG on TV in your area. We provide our show at no cost and all it usually takes is a little local legwork to get broadcasts arranged.
There are many stations in the OR/WA area and a lot of dedicated disc golfers as well. Hopefully, some of you take the initiative and get in touch with your local station to see what it takes to bring DG to TV.

Thanks to the PDGA, Innova, and Discraft for supporting the efforts of Disc Golf Live to bring DG to a broader audience than ever before. And thanks also to Billy Crump, Mike Bozik, Steve Dodge, and the Scandinavian video mafia for sharing their video productions.
Take care,
Joe

Episode 41 of Disc Golf Live is up on Youtube. Both parts are roughly 30 minutes long. There are a few locals in the show, including Dion, Nate, and Tim, off the top of my head.
DGL is produced primarily for broadcast on local and community access stations, and we provide free DVDs or downloads for submission by local residents. There are many great broadcast opportunities in the region, so check with your local station and see what it takes to submit a program for broadcast. Then drop us a line and we'll hook you up.

Put this email together and sent it to OPB. Feel free to do the same. Maybe somebody that's good at putting together sales pitches could write something up.
Hello,
I'm a professional disc golfer, long time Oregon resident, and OPB viewer.
We have some hard working folks in our disc golf community working on great shows that could easily be broadcasted on your network. These shows can be made available to OPB at no cost.
Disc golf live can provide free dvd's for your broadcasting needs.

Thanks, Sean. The Public Broadcasting group would be a hard nut to crack, but its worth a try. Public Broadcasting (nationally affiliated) stations are pretty tight ships which don't offer much by way of local programming in most cases. More likely candidate stations are PEG stations (public, educational, governmental), the ones that often offer local residents the opportunity to submit shows for local broadcast. Here's a listing of many stations broken down by state. Not inclusive, but a good start: http://www.communitymedia.se/cat/linksus.htm
The Eugene/Lane County station seems ideal but none of the residents I've sent copies to in the area have come through as far as I can tell. I've had folks working towards getting the show on in Seattle, but that hasn't panned out yet. They have a few more hurdles there to jump through than most stations. Lots of other stations in OR and WA.
Thanks for taking the time to try to get the ball rolling!
Joe
