Hey y'all, I'm gonna post my formal Hole Sponsor letter on this forum and on ODSA. "Trozzle" will be taking the lead on this project to help us out. Any questions, feel free to ask. Without further ADO....

Hello …
My name is Nathan Boyes and I am the Tournament Director for the Oregon Deaf Disc Golf Championship on May 29-31, 2009. The tournament will be taking place at Horning’s Hideout near North Plains. We are gearing up to have our best year in the history of our Association, which was established in 2004. In order to be able to achieve our goals, we need the support of the disc golf community so that we can give our Deaf players from in and out of state the best experience possible while they participate in this tournament.
The Oregon Deaf Disc Golf Association is offering hole sponsorships for $25 and $50.
The $25 sponsorship gets recognition on 1 hole, website, and our ODDGC YouTube video.
The $50 sponsorship gets recognition on 1 hole, website, our ODDGC YouTube video and a players pack mailed to them after the tournament.
ODDGA is a recognized non-profit entity with its own tax identification number in which we have obtained. If we receive any donation and sponsorship from you, we will promptly write a formal thank-you letter with our tax id number included for you to use for your business/personal income tax return form.

Thank you for your time.

I am very happy to be taking on a role for this event. How could one not want to help in any way possible. Like Nathan said, I will be covering the hole sponsorship part for now, and even more duties as they come in and when the tourney happens. If you are interested in sponsoring a hole, contact Nate, or myself. my email addy is troy_grotte@yahoo.com. Please help if you can.

Team disc players. get each of your teammates to thrown in a few bucks each and you could easily come up with the $25 or $50 sponsorship.

Just a note to all potential hole sponsors or even bigger package sponsors over $150. We did alot of videos last year as practice, this year with extra programs and more expirience, we will be going above and beyond for all sponsors on our videos. Let's just say that is supposed to be an incentive for y'all. Check Deafpower12 on YouTube if you didn't already know :whistler:

And now backkk to the challengeee that Trozzle has imposed upon the greatest Disc Golf State in the UNiked Steaks of A-mehreca.

Is it only for the deaf exclusively?

Trozzle!!!
March 23rd, 2009, 05:41 PM
I am not the TD, but I do believe its deaf only. No hearing baggers allowed to play, hahaha

Flash
March 23rd, 2009, 06:15 PM
What do you mean hearing baggers, its a liability to be able to hear during most events.

There better not be any discrimination going on just because a golfer can not sign, maybe that golfer has a learning disability or something!!!:shooting:

A couple clubs I have contacted, but havent heard back from is the Willamete Disc Golf Club and the Hyzer Rebels. If anyone who is part of those clubs and would like to see them contribute to this event, please get in touch with your club president for me and press this issue. I do have sponsorships from the EDGC, and Stumptown. I woul like to put out a challenge to all local disc golf clubs to donate to this great Deaf tourney

Hello everyone, for some reason I must have missed this thread for a while because that is a whole lotta posts i missed...

Anyways, first things first, the record for player attendance to a Oregon Deaf Disc Golf Championship is 31. I have 15+ pre registered already. The flier and registration forms can be found at www.ddga.org on the tour page which is www.ddga.org/ddga_tour
We hope to break this record easily.
Now to answer Flash, this has always been a very sensitive issue about allowing hearing players to participate. The DDGA and its regional organizations have adapted its "Deaf" only theory/policy to allow some hearing players to play specific events such as CODA's (Child of Deaf Adult) and immediate family members of the Deaf like Dale that we know in Oregon. However it is up to each organization to set limits on who can and cannot play etc. It is sticky, the ODDGA has a verbal philosophy that we want family members to be able to participate, however for the Championship, we have to draw the line, family members may play but cannot win the cash but can get script instead, because of all the months of hard work, and for a hearing player to win it all, just kinda sucks to put it straight forward. I could give more reasons and examples but I have said enough to give justification. That is why I have tried my best to be able to provide an event that both hearing and Deaf can play together while still giving the most important part of the event it's own special Deaf only kind of thing. So on the flier, you can see, we invite all hearing players to play our random doubles and BOTH night glow rounds; the original plan was for random dubs and glow on friday only but since there will be quite a few hearing volunteers and we want to be able to compromise as much as possible without muddying the water, so we will make random dubs and both night glow open to anyone and no restrictions on prize winnings for these separate events. I hope everyone understands the sticky concept and will respect it for what it is. It is a hard decision that the DDGA is faced year in and year out, that is why we are pushing for more of our members to be part of the PDGA so that the two organizations can grow closer and help eachother out in the future.

And I want to thank all the sponsors that we have received so far and will receive, because this is already gauging to be the best tournament in ODDGA history if not more. It already is going to be the best tournament other than the National Championship in 2009 for the DDGA... WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT....
Also, through our hard work for preparing for the ODDGC, it seems that we were also able to obtain a large sponsor for the BSF at the same time...

So, go check out www.ddga.org and the tour page and check the registration and flier for ODDGC to help you get through your insomnia.
Thanks
Nathan

If this does become the biggest Oregon Deaf tourney ever, I am damn glad to be part of it. I have been busting my ass, as Nate knows to try get sponsors for this event, plus get discs dyed for this and the 3 headed tourney. It has been my honor to help. About a month and a half to go, and Im not giving up yet. Doing my best in my first attempt to kick some ass, and get some sponsors for this event

I am "waving my hands off" to Nathan Boyes for his hard work as TD of 6th ODDGC! Like he said at beginning of the tournament that no player leave empty hand, and he was right!! The whole weekend at Horning's Hideout was blast time, and I had really great weekend!! The raffle was great and it seem that everyone had those prizes! :yay: I won a dyed disc made from I believe his name was Troy or Trozzle, and it was awesome disc of ASL signs of "2009 ODDGA" with map of Oregon and HH's signature of peacock!! Big thanks to Troy for helping Nathan. Calapoola Brewery Company provided great beers!! :chug: I had great time playing with those three awesome ladies for whole weekend!! The most fun of all was night disc golf which was my first time playing! It was so RAD to see those discs with glow sticks flying thru the air, and see other groups walking around the course with glow discs!!

I had the time of my life hanging out with all of you wonderful Deaf disc golfers this past weekend. I met a lot of great people who now I consider my friends. I could see it everyones faces that they too were having such a great time. I will gladly volunteer to do this again anytime :) :yay:

I think we also got about an hours worth of video and a couple hundred pics at least. I will be getting those off to Nathan very soon. I loved how you guys did your players meeting. It was very interesting to watch one done in sign, but I did understand almost everything that was said. I am "Waving my hands around in the Air" to all of you, and thank you for allowing a hearing guy like me to be a big part of this tourney!!!!!!!

Here are pics of the discs I dyed for the event, and the Tee signs I threw together at the last moment.

:laughing::laughing: That stumble and roll you took on that hole was great. you got a 10 for sure!!!!

As far as any dye you want done, just let me know. I posted on the DDGA forum as well, so maybe I can get some business from there too?

Thanks for helping set up my tent on Thurs. A borrowed tent with a missing pole is not easy to set up. Sorry about your mini basket pole. I was trying to take it easy on it, at least you broke it and I didnt, hahaha
