How long?
SMOKIN JOE
February 17th, 2009, 07:15 PM
how long are the holes ? have not measured them yet , but a rough guess would go like this. 1. 400ft. o.b. area and fence to deal with next to the basket area 2. 500ft. o.b.area all around fairway, fairway is thin around 300ft. area with o.b. on each side, trees to deal with, o.b. by basket area 3.. 400ft. shoot over football field that is surrounded by a track ,track is o.b.,basket is on other side of track close to a tall fence, 4. 600ft. back over football field to corner of field, track o.b.,o.b. behind basket area, 5.
300ft. fairway narrows right before basket, tennis court on one side, track on the other, basket is 50ft past opening in 50ft. wide area , tree blocking front of opening 6. 400ft. fairway fenced in last 200ft. fairway 80ft. wide at basket area trees left early track o.b. all discs will be able to be retrieved if it goes uot of the ballfield area go get it, if it goes in the fenced baseball field i will have to get it for you later unless it is open, unless noted otherwise that is the plan so far. and thanks for the question answres are usually free and correct, terry:cool2:

February 19th, 2009, 08:22 PM
good to hear from you. thanks again for the glass, as of now no, only have a few locals and one from bend on the list , if more interest is generated i might be able to pull some strings, but i'm saving those for my july touney i do every year, which i also will apply for P.D.G.A. sactioning, between all the ctp's and payouts at my bigger tounaments whom ever is left usually gets to pick something from the pile that is left, so i try to make sure that everybody gets at least something, it may be a mini it may be a disc ,shirt, flashlight,
beer, i try hard to thank everybody for showing up. as of now silver squirrel disc golf club paid for all the tourney and park fees and carquest of sheridan supplied all the prizes, silver squirrel has put in some discs as well, so far no hole sponsers or donatoins have been recieved, all proseeds from hole sponership and donatoins go directly to player purses, because silver squirrel is a non-profit club so all in goes all out. thank you for the chance to ramble on agian hope to see you there, :cool2: peace

SMOKIN JOE
February 23rd, 2009, 08:14 PM
the local trophy shop,,,, , the order is not finalized if you have something in mind, ,,,,I loved your trophy for the BAD ACE WINTER HANDICAP SERIES but didn't think I had the funds ,,,,and havn't had any cash sponsership besides Silver Squirrel Disc Club to afford so nice of trophies,,,,, they will be like the ones for last years Turkey Toss without the turkey of course.,,,, but as noted in the thread trophies will only be offered to preregistered divisions ,,,, thank you for the question ,,,,,and any insight or help is always greatly appriciated,,, on another note,,, Dave Heider won the first to sign-up prize which he does not know he won,,, something to remember for the july tounament....:cool2:peace

Hey Terry!
I'd love to play in this event and I always have a good time traveling to Wortman. Is Pre-Registration required/suggested or do you mind people showing up and paying the day of? I'l try to rope Nate and Colin into the mix and anyone else from Corvallis that has a free day!
Thanks,

Great to hear from you Dion,,,,, you can sign-up the day of the tourney,,,,there is a five dollar day of fee posted, but since there are only a few locals preregistered I will waive the fee,,, shouldn't be too hard te reorganise the day of,,, you can sign-up on the pdga calander or at pdgasignup.com or send me some money, i will be finalizing trophies by thursday so i can have them by next sunday,,,,, only preregistered divisions will have trophies,,, i trust in you and the corvalis boys,, if you know your coming just call 503-883-9340 and i'll put you on the list and you can pay day of no extra charge ,,,thanks for the reply hope to hear from you soon:cool2:

OK - I just got clearance to play and will be signing up shortly (tonight). :yay:
Who else? Why is it that most PDGA tournaments fill up quickly, but there have been very few sign-ups for this one and very little chatter. What gives? Have you guys played this park? It's awesome, and the added holes should give something for you kids who like to throw a mile.
C'mon! Lets go to Wortman and play some golf. Who's in?

Its probably because not too many folks have played Wortman.
Think so? I wonder how many that played the Wash Slosh had been to Leverich before? When I played Hyzer Pines last year the majority of the people I talked to hadn't played the course. A lot of events that are on temp courses sell out...
C'mon westsiders.... McMinville isn't any farther away than a trip to Milo (probably closer)....

it looks like rain and cold so be prepared
don't forget to spring your clock ahead
one thing though it should cut down on any park traffic
well be the only fools out there i'm sure
can't wait
love to compare my scores with the open group:cool2:

I want to say thanks to Terry and his crew for good job running the tournament. I had great time playing with Cindy and Jeri in my first PDGA tournement, and we gotta to :bowing: to our disc golf weather god!! I am looking forward to play more tournament in future to improve my skills as my goal for this year was to play more disc golf! After that, my man and I went to Golden Valley Brewery Resturant to have a nice :chug:. Nice resturant and good beer as well, too!

I had a great time at this tournament. Thanks to Terry and his crew for putting this together.
I was a little worried when it was snowing on my way to the park, and again in th eafternoon when the black storm clouds were rolling in. But those clouds just rolled on by and, all things considered, the weather was pretty good.
I was mildly disapointed with my morning round, but bounced back in the afternoon for a good overall day.
Congrats Cindy on the win! :yay:

looks like having a tourney for the sake of more sunshine time might have been the reason for such good weather
will try tonight to figure out how to do the post report tonight so you can see how you rated
can't thank the crew enough for all the hard work and williness to step in
it takes a few people to do it right
next one will be the turkey toss
should be second saturday in july, already getting people wanting to help with that one, might be a barbeque lunch involved,
sorry Bob wasn't feeling well, don't like having to put there entry towards payouts, one of the few drawbacks of pdga
thanks to the gals, seven of them, made my wife happy to do work for the ladies and not just the guys like always,
she's already talking about the turkey toss hoping to see even more ladies

Thanks to Terry and the Silver Squirrels for a fun event. It is great to have more of our Oregon Clubs stepping up and running events.
I would love to see some results from this one either here or ideally reported to the PDGA, I am excited to see how the ratings shake out and how everyone not in my group the last round faired out there in round 2 because I don't know any other scores.
I'll be back for the next Wortman event if I am able, the park is on the small side and doesn't seem to see much play but I think the course has a good design and the holes are fun to play.

Wish I could have been there but didn't want to risk getting worse since I have to fly to Santa Barbara for a funeral this week. Don't worry about my entry fee. The only difference between me being there and not is that either way my entry goes to payout to someone else any way. :headbang: One of these days though, lookout. See you at GNO, Terry!

Yes, the only one of the day. :) Hole 3. The one with the bridge right in front of the tee pad. my very first shot of the 2nd round. Played like $hit after that, but didnt care. I figured the acepot would get me more $$$$$ than actually winning my division.

for those who know he always is there and he was not there sunday and is still bed ridden hard to get it done
pdga has not been much help my wife has been on the phone with them was just going to send the info in and pay the extra 25.00 but it seemed they did't want that ,can't you use another computer of give the info to someone who can.
seemed to me they should just take my info via.fax or even voice,my wife felt liked no one wanted to help her
i'll most likely just send the info in and let them deal with it:cool2:

thanks dave for calling and offering me a whole new computer
this takes time to feed the computer with the info
what i need is a working computer at my house or for someone to take the info and load it in
i'm not much of a computer guy i know the system at work that's it
it seems much easier to me to just send it in,especialy with my boy being bedridden right now
thanks everyone for coming and by next time hopefully i'll have this working

Right back at you Terry--I see you signed up for the GNWO :whistler:'s. We'll have to do a warm up round together for good luck! :dancing:

You can blame THAT all on Mr Tom Dooley for shooting a 1st Rd 49, compaired to Nate's 53.
Tom LOW rating THRASHES the calculations...:headbang:
 I see what you mean...darn underrated locals (?) who can play well in the rain and wind! :nahnah:

I just need one more score tweak, I have yet to shoot a 1070+ round, my best is 1069. Maybe it will adjust up when the official ratings come out. I was just 6 inches short on the path on #2...drop in birdie if the disc just goes another foot :(
