This is not a joke!

There has been a rash of unauthorized Course maintenance at The Tac. This is totally unexceptable! The City, Club and the sport consider this vandelism. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated becasue it could cost us the entire course. If the person/persons are caught they will face prosecution which will include being banned from the course.

We are pretty sure we know the person/s responsable are. They just need to either be told to stop or turned in to the police.

Golfers, If you know or see or hear anyone joking about "trimming" anything Stand up for yourself and the sport and tell them to knock it off. If they don't try and get their car license number. I WILL turn them in. jub

This is where I stopped reading. The thread had already not met my expectations.

But it does seem kind of ironic.

Night hacking is really bad and totally changes the course. I am a North Park regular and we have a known Night Hacker that makes both good and bad decisions when it comes to course maintance. I remember North Park being full of vegetation, now there are holes everywhere. Course maintance should have to be approved by the coures pro/creator.

Yeah. Imagine if everyone just built walls out of sticks and logs and rocks. Then where would we be?

We would be at Barf Park

I am surprised to find myself agreeing with you. You have a way with words.

Hole 14, midway down the fairway, a tree was hacked about three feet off of the ground with a machete. Similar cutting style (3' off of the ground, machete) on Hole 17, which looks like someone is trying to open a route to the basket low and to the right. The a$$hole who did it just left the two trees lying on the ground. Sad.

DAMN! I haven't played the Tac since Sunday but tonight I see that the SeaTac Vandals have struck again! Basket 13 has been destroyed. The top chain supports have been bent down until they touch the post and the "basket" part of the goal is laying on the ground.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hole 13 is a Cool Shoez basket.... that sucks. One down, not enough left.

I just spoke to Guy and he said he will speak to herm the beginning of next week. In the mean time I would think the cage just needs new bolts. So they must have broken the rings that hold the chain supports then to bend them down to the pole. Anyway thanks for the heads up and it's being taken care of.

Was out there yesterday. Basket 13 looks unrepairable. There were 5 gangsters sitting at 14s teepad with beer cans everywhere. Glad I was with a group, it was a pretty sketchy situation.

Couldn't we just dig a huge hole, cover it lightly with leaves and sticks, then put a 40 ouncer of old english or some other malt liquor over the top, leave it over night and we will have trapped them all in the hole. :)

That basket is effed in the a. There are a lot of welds that need to be reworked, and the cage is a little bent up from the stomping madness. I vote for Sillybizz's pit of doom, but we should add spikes like in the Goonies. Let's see that false denture grappling hook trick in real life, huh?

I get the feeling 13 needs to be dug up, replaced with a much sturdy er basket and then 13 can be relocated somewhere else more visable. Side note If they were drinking call the cops. Another call is Liquor control someone has to be selling them beer locally

13 basket is finished and needs to be replaced. :(
It's the same idiots who have been smashing on that basket for six months now. They use the tee sign from 14, which was pulled out of the ground ages ago, with the concrete plug still on the bottom, to beat hell out of the basket.

I still have not had time to pour a new footing for that sign, so today Greg and I hid it. So now the idiots wont have a big ol steel pole to beat on the basket with. I'm sure it's the same characters who tagged, then stole the nice bench that was there.

It does make it easier for a lefty shooter the way it is right now. The basket itself is tipped left and down. I banged home a 50 footer today, damaged chains and all. :biggrin2:
But still, it needs to be replaced.

We now have a new candidate for biggest idiot at Seatac award. I noticed fresh pink paintball splatters on alot of trees around #7 basket and on the #9 tee today.

Biggest idiot? I can see the Tac being a great place for a paintball match. The rock on hole 4 looked like it served as a bunker for numerous rounds the other day.

When Spokane had their problems with Vandals at Down River & Highbridge their own mr.Troy Farley (Go Hawks!) a master with steel and electricity beefed up the supports to make it a lot harder to completely destroy a basket . Not certain where 13 is located but most likely away from the beaten path( i have played Sea :angry:Tac once)Can anyone post a pic?

Thanks Tom the Farley built basket upgrades are certainly on the radar for this position. Also a "line of sight" from Des Moines way is an instant fix.

Maybe Seatac should have baskets like at Horning's Hideout, I have a hard time seeing anyone doing too much damage to those.

Anything can be damaged if the vandal has enough will. The key is prevention.

Hey! I just want to shout out a big THANKS and a WOW to the righteous dude that managed to straighten out basket 13! It definitely needs some welding done but it looks totally salvageable now. If it was welded up I think it would actually be fine. It's gonna look a little "ghetto" but hey - we're talking SeaTac!

Yeah, I just played Seatac today for the first time and I kept looking for the broken basket and barely noticed the damage, definitely still puttable. :cheerleader:

Awesome course though, all around.

There is a plan of attack. Omnibud found a local DG'r who volunteered to do it. Hooray! I have a NEW Cool Shoes top to be fortified and then installed. The cage will get "Farley ized". So don't panic when the pole is all that's left during the next week or so.

Another solution is "a line of sight" from the street to the 13 basket/14 tee area.

More info as it becomes available.

Played SeaTac yesterday (Sept. 30) and the basket is hardly playable, if even repairable. Course keeper, please move the basket away from the Hole 14 tee area, a.k.a., local teen drinking spot.

Sorry No can do but We will make it harder for them to vandalize the area.

Maybe we should move the flintstones bench thats behind the 14 tee, then they would have no place to sit.

LJ Jubner
October 2nd, 2009, 07:22 AM
maybe if we do both line of sight and removed bench might slow them down. The good news is it's getting cold and crappy out so these hoodlums will start hanging out inside somewhere else

The basket is installed and catches fine. I want to thank Mike (Omnibud) Grossman for finding Johnny (Money) Mahoney and the favor he did us all. Oh, and Rahn helped too.

Should the bench at 14 be pulled? Sucks but should reduce easy sitting and vandalizin'

No the line of sight should do it.

I noticed yesterday that the first tree on the right side of the first fairway has been limbed and brushed out from ground level to about 15 feet up. Someone used a lopper to do this.
This does improve the line for RHBH throwers. :cop:

I think its only a matter a time before the shredded remains of the big laurel on #2 will be found on the other side of the fence near the road.

I just dont understand why we cant have one challenging course in the area, somebody wants them all to be like Ferguson Park. Wheres the challenge when every hole is an easy duece, even for a little kid.

I guess the only answer is to build harder and harder courses. :jumpspin:
