View Full Version : OR Team DG: Week 5 @ Dabney

Important note: The original schedule for Dabney has us setting line ups at 7:30am and teeing at 8. After discovering that there's only a 7-minute loss of daylight between last weekend and next weekend we decided there's no reason to get everyone up a half hour earlier. So the Dabney start times are the same as last week: 8am set line ups, 8:30am tee off.

Keith, are there any changes to the layout? I know some are in the works but don't know if there's any direct course impact yet.

Is the gate to the lower parking lot going be open for the weekend? Please!

And don't forget that we play these matches THIS Weekend!!! This is the only part of the schedule that doesn't have 2 weeks between events. Let's get the first half of the season wrapped up so we can all enjoy the Holiday season!

See you all at Dabney THIS weekend!:trophy:

No we wont have any changes but I will be having a work party at Dabney this Sunday at 11am. so show up if you want to see whats going on but the main work party will be spreading bark chip and cleaning up for the slosh event. even if you can only help for an hour or two show up and help support Dabney disc golf course and Oregon State parks.

Dabney has been all over the map as to the ratings: 52.06 - 49.75 - 51.84 - 53.19 - 55.77 - 53.48 - 54.33. This is probably due to the different pin placements and varying weather we've had over the years (The 55.77 was the Saturday afternoon round last year when all the newbies got initiated into TDG by the weather). But this all averages out to just under 53 so we'll go with the easy to calculate 10 RPs/Stroke for this event.

Thanks for asking!

Well, I am not going to head out there to mark it, so maybe we will not play that mando.

But please be extra careful if you are throwing on the other side of that mando. Peeps waiting on tee 16 should always keep an eye toward the last tee in case of errant shots.

Maybe we could get Sam to come out and mark the mando for us.

I cant wait to go down to Dabney Saturday and hunt some Oregon wildlife. Dan Denny head mounted would look good above the crapper. Its against the law to have guns in state parks so I will have to use a seal club to take Dan out.

... sheesh... and just when i was thinkin' 'bout takin' it easy on you poor, old guys 'cause i'm such a nice young thing, ya gotta go and start talkin' 'bout huntin' and killin' and beatin' folk up with seal clubs... just for that... i'm leaving the ensure and stewed beats i was gonna bring for y'all at home... altho, will your old creaky joints even make it out there in the weather we're s'posed to be having?

Emma I thought your team was older it must be all those speacial cookies your team eats that makes you guys look old and broke down. I was just going to bring my seal club but now just for you i will bring the stun gun it should work great in the rain.

The Crushers better bring an inflatable raft or two so you can cart each other around in the rain. Too bad our teams don't get to square off during the regular season so our crusties can show your crusties a thing or two. ;)

Go Oregon Disc & Wildlife!

Keith, I believe the State Parks are covered under a discharge law not a carry law. I think the parks used to be covered under a poorly worded carrying loaded weapons regulation, however it was changed to infer discharge of weapons. So you can carry but do not discharge. Perhaps a pistol whipping is advisable, otherwise bring your favorite lawyer to argue self-defense. But if you are speaking of physical harm why would you need to worry about laws anyways.

Here is a good side note to weapons in State Parks.
It is illegal to use a slingshot in a state park (http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/rules/OARS_700/OAR_736/736_010.html)
see 736-010-0040 Visitor Conduct (n)
So if you get a disc stuck in a tree and have a slingshot, don't discharge it just throw it at the tree instead.

These are the Crusties you are talking about. They haven't heard of firearms.
Guys that old just carry clubs (picture Jeff Cox approaching with a tree stump).
Luckily, 4/7ths of their team is barely ambulatory, so they're mostly harmless.

What is it with TDG, Dabney, and heavy rain. The season I played I took 2 sets of rain gear and dry clothes to wear on the drive home, still it was fun. Have fun today folks, I'll be dry listening to my Eastern Eagles take on the Bisons from N. Dakota in the I-AA National Quarterfinals, on the Blood Rug in Cheney. Cheers, take coco.

Yeah for some reason TDG and Dabney seems to always mean torrential downpour. Last year was nasty as well. Forget Dabney I am going to play Hagg today in this weather instead, hahaha

Lost: 175 Glow Champion Firebird in the pond on hole 2. Had dye of "Groovy" on it. Right next to the edge too. I would have stayed and pulled it out but had to rush home for my kids' Christmas program. This should prove to my wife that my family is more important than disc golf! That was my favorite disc!
