The Baked One and I have played some great rounds at Juel Park in the snow. Juel definitely rocks as a snow course, but avoid it when the snow melts!
If you tape a strand of yarn to your disc, it can help to locate your disc if it gets buried.
I have also played SeaTac and Lakewood in the snow. I can't wait for some east coast Ice Bowl action!

Yo! Fo sho, I throw in the snow, bro.
Alliteration aside, I've played a handful of rounds in the snow, including a quick round with 'One-Sock' Johnny at Silver Lake today. Did you put any sort of ribbon or string on your discs? If the snow gets too deep, I was thinking about sacrificing a few junker discs and drilling holes in them. I'll go check out dgcr to see what I can find out about what works best.

Does the tape usually hold up for a round, budsman? Clear packing tape?
Jerry-rigging a 'heated' bag would be nice! Line the bag with battery-powered socks or ?

Battery powered socks is what I suggested to line my golf bag AND the pouch-pocket of my pull-over polar flece jacket!! It should work right?

Hey there Bis!
Clear packing tape is good. If it's cold enough, the tape won't get wet and fall off.
What about throwing ten or twenty hand warmer packets in the bottom of your bag?
Kinda pricey, I would guess..

We live (most of us) in the Pac NW, if we didn't throw in the snow we'd only fet to play 7-8 months out of the year, on average! I don't know about you guys, but I get antsy after about 4 days of not playing!

I always use neon discs so it glows some in the snow.
Silver Lake was perfect today!

The Central Oregon Disc Golf Club (CODGC) aka "The Rebels" play Winter League every Sunday in Sisters...more often than not...in the snow.
Check out CODGC.com for details.

If I wanted to play disc golf (or do anything) in sub-freezing temperatures, I wouldn't have left Minnesota.

I just threw a round of superclass in the snow. The nice thing about superclass discs is you can leave your thick gloves on and still be able to make a decent throw (nice for wimps like me).

And they don't bury themselves in the snow as much...

got a good round in at steili today in the snow, despite having to dodge around the people sledding in the meadow. only had one buddy almost lose a disc under the snow but we found it eventually. and followed up the round with a few games of mini disc shuffle-board on the frozen puddles (small lakes?) in the parking lot. was a lot of fun despite the frigid temps.

Sports tape, like football players or boxers use, is the best tape to hold 1/4"ribbon,18"-2' long, onto a disc. Water has little effect on it.:nahnah:

From Spokane to Missoula if you didnt throw in the cold n snow we would miss 4-5 months of playing each year. That does leave us at a disadvantage to the non/ little snow players. Time to Bundle up and get out.

INDOOR PUTTING!!! Even if you only have 20-30 ft to work with....Keep those putts up this winter. We all have difficulty getting in the same amount of practice as other regions. (I just left Florida and they play down there EVERY day).....
Snapping a towel a hundred or so times each day can keep those fast twitching muscles in order also.
I know it's all fun and games in the winter time....But at times it can be detrimental to our personal development as a player to play in these conditions...Whether it's a physical injury or learning improper habits we inevitably adapt for these low temperatures.... I love winter golf, not for the practice, but for the shear love of the game we all share. Don't take it to hard when you don't play as well as you'd hope and make sure you're careful out there. Cheers,

We played a great round at Lake Stevens during the blizzard on Monday. Followed that up with a beautiful round in the snow and sun out there on Tuesday. Had to skip 3 holes due to the sledders though. Headed back out today with a group.
The cold is ok, the snow is ok, the bad footing is ok. What bothers me is I have to spend extra money on IPAs because my Coors Lights keep freezing up during the round. Damn cheap low alcohol beer.....

Yes. Every chance I get. 18 holes, 18 degrees, 18 inches of snow, and bottle of YJ.

of course!!! never thought of the yarn idea, but i like it... cute and crafty... we learned to watch carefully, be grateful for mama (who doesn't golf, but is a master spotter) and track the discs by their little crescents and tails left in the surface... and then dig 3 feet further up in the snow...

Three of us played yesterday without yarn and the only disc lost was up in a tree.

Played a solo snow round yesterday and threw alot of drives on almost every hole. I have four fallen soldiers out there waiting for me to come find them when the snow melts. Super fun, but 15 min of searching on every hole definitely added some time to my round. The fact that I needed sunglasses for the whole round more than made up for it.

living in Minnesota makes it difficult to not play in the snow now! I've played in snow drifts 6 ft high last year and have got a tourney at the end of January that will probably make for another interesting round. I've learned that pink flx plastic is the way to go, that stuff can glow right through some of the lighter stuff.

There wasn't much snow, but I played a short round at Vance Park today. It wasn't my best round and it didn't help I was using the extra beginner set of discs from my car. Still felt good to get out there though.

I play in any weather. There isn't a day in my mind that isn't a good disc golf day. With that said, I'm off to play a glow round.
