For personal reasons, I'm thinking seriously of not renewing my PDGA membership this year. If that is the case, what happens if I renew next year, or after? Can I renew next year, or would I be considered a new member? I think I keep my number, but would I keep my rating as well?

I believe it is just a renewal, keeping your number and rating.

I'm pretty sure that your PDGA # is yours for life and I believe you won't be able to see your rating(on the website) or any PDGA rounds you play this year won't be counted.
I also believe if you renew next year any PDGA rounds you play this year will be added on the first update.

But these are all thoughts, so I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I know this part of what you said is correct. I am not sure about the ratings and how they work with non-renewals.

The lifetime PDGA # is a certainty, though. That's a perk.
