So are we going to play the long course and what will the SSA be. Who will be setting the course up and Jordan how many doglegs are we going to have to play. I need to know so I can bring my Lawer to go over all those stupid doglegs.
I also hope Cindy wont bring those out of control dogs of hers they scare me.
I almost forgot Jeff Hemmerling has a nice white smile.:cheerleader:

A dog leg is a just a hole that curves. A mandatory is an obstacle that the disc must pass to a certain side of. So I think you are referring to Mandatories, not Doglegs. Timber Park has the most Mandatories of any disc golf course in the entire universe. I think we should change the name to Mando Park!

So are we going to play the long course and what will the SSA be.
Timber has historically played right on the edge of 10 or 11 ratings points per stroke, and since we are supposed to be playing the "long" course we will go with the easy to calculate 10 RPs/Stroke.
Who will be setting the course up and Jordan how many doglegs are we going to have to play. I need to know so I can bring my Lawer to go over all those stupid doglegs.
That is a very good question. If my foggy recollection of the captains meeting serves me well, I believe that Carl T Thorne said he would hook up with Mr Joe Marvell and take care of the set up for us. But if there is going to be some kind of really crazy layout then we need some maps to go along with the new design. If not we can always play the regular 19 hole layout this time and use 11 RPs/Stroke for competition.
I also hope Cindy wont bring those out of control dogs of hers they scare me.
You can only bring dogs along during your round if everybody on your card agrees. If someone on your card complains then you'll have to leave them in the car during your round.

I never really thought about all the mando's at timber. There are a lot. Just never thought about it because none of the mando's make a difference in my shot. Except new hole 19's mando left.

If I recall correctly:
1 - double mando
2- mando left
3 - mando left (though the tree is down now)
4 - none
5 - none
6 - none
7 - mando right
8 - none
9 - none

18 - none
19 - mando (left now?)
That's 7 holes with mandos! 9 if you count double mandos as 2 mandos!

And isn't the mando on your hole #2 to the right of the tree with OB running along the fence to the left?

When we made timber there were only 3 mando's (#3,#7,#13) on the course. Most of us who made the course will only play the old ones and we dont play any of the new ones like hole #19. There is no need to play these holes mando's unless you are a new player. I say we stay old school and just play the old mando's.

Yay Keith I believe was trying to be funny. Making fun of a certain thread that is pretty silly :rolleyes2: We have no intention of playing any TDG rounds with our dogs. If we bring them they will be in the car during the rounds like last time at Horning's. Of course if we were to play a round with our dog we would always make sure it is cool with everyone on the card.

on your list the 3 old mando's are hole #3,#8, and hole #14 the rest dont belong. That is way to many mando's for one course and we did not design this course to break the mando record for a 18 hole course. It's like Sam who is from the far left made a mando when he thought there was a chance that someone might get hit spotting on a hole.

I also agree with DMZ. Old school....The creek hole is my biggest complaint being a mando. If that hole is a mando, you might as well make a mando two holes before to the left of the power pole.I see more shots coming close to people than on the creek hole. Just my two cents.

Well... I am pretty damned sure that the explosion of 3D's face from a Kevin Mykelz drive proves the whole theory on Timber being an unsafe place. I said it before and I will say it again - the fairways are too close to each other and when there are big groups of people playing so that every pad has people on it, yeah... unsafe. But I had nothing to do with the mandos there, of course.
To the rest... it always amazes me when people think liberals try to tell them how to live more than conservatives. Do liberals try to tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies? No. Do conservatives? Yes. Do liberals worship a religion of guilt and sin and temptations, etc. or is that more of a conservative thing to do? The Bible is a great book. It will go down in history as one of the best. Right up there with the Iliad. And the Heimskringla. And the Aeneid. But if you think that a book of suspect tales written by unknown authors and later edited with unknown intentions is a guide for how you should live in modern times I might have to conclude that the head should probably be removed from the rectum. But that's just my opinion, of course.

That could happen at a lot of courses. Timber does have close fairways but I think it is a safe place to play golf even with crowds. It takes normal disc golf etiquette to make it so.
I'll leave the politics alone for now. I fall somewhere in between Sam and Keith. Pretty sure that makes me the man meat.

Wow are you a cranky old guy...do you yell at those damn kids to get off your lawn too?
Damn! This ALSO isn't rocket science people. These mandos have been played for years and are as marked as they need to be, deal with it. The only one that is tough to see is hole 4 since they cut the mando tree down. That one, and all of them for that matter, are to be decided by the group playing the hole. If you obviously shoot a big RHBH hyzer over the fence and hole 8's fairway and skip it up to the green, you have missed the mando and can:
1. Re tee
2. Throw your 2nd shot from the mando.
And if you are Keith and think that you'll just play without any mandos then enjoy the highly skewed ratings that will give you for the rest of the league. But if I were the team playing Keith I'd be hammering him with the penalty strokes.
What is this crap? We are not playing this fuggin circus shot through the wires are we? LAME.
Yeah, I went back and forth on this one, but my two choices were single mando left of the power pole and the 'fuggin circus shot'. But that just makes a lefty friendly course more so. Maybe we'll play the single mando when we play this course the SECOND time this season.
Oh, and by the way, I didn't vote for us to play this course twice, so you can pass your thanks along to those captains that did. I'd rather play North Bonne but too many whiners carried the day.
We ARE playing all of the mandos, because they are there for a reason: SAFETY! We will pack this course both days and we don't need another ambulance to show up this year.
So should we take bets on who's gonna piss me off next...:pirate:

Although I am not playing this year, I love the idea of extra mandos to any course to make it tougher during TDG. It is afterall meant to be a fun league. Sure there are those who need to win everytime, or they get pissed off. Extra mandos on a course adds to the challenge and makes everyone have to play that much better, or that much more careful.

Have you ever folded pre-flop in poker and wondered if you made the right move? I made the right move.....have fun team disc golfers.
Can't handle a little drama? Perhaps knitting league is more your speed....

In spite of the fact that we have our disagreements here and there, I think almost everyone involved in Team Golf is having a blast.

I know for a fact that I am not included in parts of this conversation. Which parts? Who cares?

Has there been a final decision on how we're playing the handicap this weekend? 10 or 11 per stroke?
Thanks for bringing some sanity back to this thread with a VERY good question. It seems that my initial thoughts were backwards again with the SSA for Timber. if the course gets harder the RPs/Stroke get smaller not larger.:headbang: Someday I will get it right.
But since we are playing the course with all (or at least most) of the baskets in the long positions AND all of the fuggin circus mandos we are going with the 10 RPS/Stroke for this weekend.
We also have some minor housekeeping to mention: Dark Horse is using their roster replacement this week and are dropping Ruben Alaniz and adding Rebecca Verrette to their roster. Rebecca is a current PDGA Member (#41554) with a rating of 801. So don't be surprised if you have to play her this weekend. Oh, and Welcome to OTDG Rebecca!:yay::trophy::yay:
Last note for now: THIS IS THE FIRST WEEK OF EARLIER START TIMES
We need Captains to set lineups at 8 am so we can start the first round at 8:30am this weekend.:cop:
