Come on out everyone! Our plan is to be working from 9:00am SHARP to ~1:00pm at which point we will break for lunch provided by Stumptown Disc Golf and grilled up by volunteer chef Cindy McMahan...
This work party will be tackling the final four holes. They are pretty rough right now, but if we got an amazing turnout like we did last time we're very confident we can whip these holes into playable shape. Once again we will be prepping the greens for chips, clearing paths and fairways of debris and trimming branches to open up the fairways .
So if you can make it, please gather at Hill Top Day Use Area promptly at 9:00am on 11/14/10.

i propose the chicks make it out again (bring your dudes if ya got 'em!)... oh, and everyone else who came last time... and maybe some other folks, too... and i do promise hot coffee... but bring your own cream if you need it... i'm a bit on the lactose intolerant side and am jealous of folks what can have cream in their coffee, so i'll just have coconut milk... :p
peace,
emmarose
p.s. also, be green and bring your own cup...

Much thanks to Cindy and Emma (and many, many others) for continuing to step up and make these work parties such an event! If you have not come out to one yet, make a point to not miss this! It is pretty amazing to be part of the developing stages of what is soon to be a fantastic, challenging, wooded, 18 hole course.

... yeah, and if bunches of people don't show up then i'll have to do heavier labor than just carrying piles of sticks around and hucking logs over cliffs... :p
... although maybe i'm ready to move up and do some lopping this time, i'm pretty good with a set of loppers... at least for stuff 5 feet up or less... hahaha... c'mon people, don't leave it all for the shorties or we'll have nothing but hobbits playing this course...
peace,
em

Excellent. Both the park rangers and the Stub Stewart design crew were amazed at how many people showed up last time. Top that off with how much work was accomplished and we could not possibly have been happier with how that day turned out.

The OLD guy here will be assisting the McMahans with lunch. Thinking along the lines of chili or spaghetti, what do ya'll think?

I was out on Sunday working on prep items for the work party. We should be able to get all the work completed if we have a similar turnout as the last work party. A higher concentration of people will be needed on holes 15 and 18 to clear debris and de-limb trees. Holes 16 & 17 should be easier to work on and clean up so should only need a handful of workers each. Steve will be out with us prepping the baskets for installation. The tee pads are all ready installed, the collars are already installed so we mean business. Come out help clear the fairways and bask in the enjoyment of a new 18 hole fully wooded course in Oregon.
Benches and signage will be installed later on the back 9 remaining holes.
Side note, there were 5-8 cars in the parking lot with disc golf stickers all day Sunday. Looks like the park is seeing some action.

Cindy has secured the food and is ready to cook for some hungry workers. Bring you sweat and appetite and we will be rocking the course after the work party.
If you are not excited for Sunday please post your address and we will have someone come over and release the trunk monkey!

Hey guys I went shopping tonight for work party grub. On the menu spaghetti, garlic bread, apples, bananas, cookies. If people want to chip in some chips, desert items, maybe some drinks it would make the meal even better. :yay:

Be that as it may... At least he showed up and busted his ass all day working on Stub Stewart...
Many thanks to everyone else who came out and worked on this great course. Also... thanks to Stumptown Disc Golf for buying the food and to Bob Cabal, and Steve and Cindy McMahan for cooking up the spaghetti and garlic bread lunch for all of the workers.
The course is now has 17 holes in the ground and the final hole is waiting for a green to be built. Man this course is FUN.

Is the "final hole" #17? When I walked the end of the course a couple weeks ago, that's the only one I couldn't find.

It was a lot of work and alot of fun. Im glad I was able to make it with Nims and have the Hagg Crew represented. Thanks to all of the hard workers that came out. And super big thanks to Bob, Steve and Cindy for the lunch. How often do you get to eat nice warm spaghetti and garlic bread at an event? It hit the spot for sure :)

thanks, btw vince... it was a heck of a round... really excellent company (thanks hagerty, aaron ray, gwillim and lundy!) and i think my fave part was landing my putt on top of the stump on 17 for the birdie...

The Hagg Crew is the name of us guys who built and maintain Hagg Lake. I do have a profile on discgolfscene but dont go there much, I think Karl Denfeld is on there too.
We were the guys at Stub in the white van, I mean the smaller white van :)

Hagg was around way way before you guys... nice try though Trozzle.

Yes Hagg did go in a year before I started playing. Nims and some the others were there from the beginning. The course was designed by CE Courtney, a friend of NIms. So Dan please get your facts straight before you speak up.

no one has given me or the Hagg Crew crap for showing up?
Why would someone give you a hard time for working your butt off at a work party trying to make a course better? Anyone who would doesn't have the best interests of the sport in mind. But anyway..
Myself and JR Stengele and CeFire on the forum here played Stag for the first time on Sunday and I have to say that the course is pretty cool. Some of the holes out there are epic and I enjoyed it and recognize the hard work that Stumptown put in. Everyone who helped with this course, give yourselves a pat on the back. Look for my review soon on DGCR. :)

are you talking about stubb or hagg... or did you travel thru a wrinkle in time where the two courses were combined into an epic fantasy disc golf course called... stagg? ;)

You can count on that! The design team is in a constant state of evaluation. The biggest changes coming will be mostly felt on the back 9 holes. Specifically 12, 13, 14 & 17. Holes 15 and 16 need some additional cleaning and clearing to make the off fairway areas a little more fair. We are hoping to have the course ready for spring, when I say ready I mean ready to play for money!
