View Full Version : Couples Day at Timber 2/7/09

Thought with Valentines Day near it would be fun to have a couples get together at Timber on the 7th of Feb.

Bring out your significant other for a fun day of golf. No fee's, no payout, no prizes, just plain ol' fun and a day with your soul mate playing disc golf.

All skill levels! Meet up around 10:00 a.m., play a round of golf, have some lunch, play an afternoon round, have fun, have fun, have fun.

I'm bringing out my grill, some dogs & buns for lunch. If someone could bring some chips and maybe some desert type food that would be really cool.

Everyone can just go out and play or hook up with another couple or two and play together. The emphasis is fun and spending time with wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/hubby/ect. not competition, just fun.

Come on out and join us. If you can let me know who's coming it will help with how much food we need, but not a big necessity.

Hope to see you there.

Bob

So the road into Timber is still closed because of the huge sink hole under the road at the entrance. This shouldn't be a problem. We can set up and have lunch outside the gate. Cindy and Steve are bringing along some burgers to go with the dogs. George said he was bringing some chips. Anybody a cookie maker? :) I have confirmation from 6 couples and possibles from many more. This should be a fun day of golf. See everyone out there.

Is it 2 rounds or 1? We should think about mixing it up if there is a second round. Flip for partners in doubles. or draw names? that way we get to know some of the folks we haven't met. Just an Idea.

We can do what ever we want it's going to be really casual. That's a good idea though. Maybe we could play with our sweeties for a round before lunch, and then mix it up after lunch.

Right on. I am stoked to play Timber. Got my Willamette and Waterloo on this week. Need.......more.........disc!

Oh, Kim and I are bringing healthy stuff. Fruit, veggies, etc. The new years resolution is still holding. down 8 pounds and running 3 miles. Freakin Avery's article got me off my butt and working on getting in better shape. If he would have said his secret is eating twinkies and drinking a gallon of Pepsi for breakfast I would probably be doing that.:waaah: I do feel like it is making a difference in my game though.

See ya'll tomorrow.

Oh yeah, and Kim and I are putting up 2 prizes. one for an ace, it is a 178 Super Roc 2008 Worlds Collector 1 disc. This is a sick disc. If no ace occurs we will have a ctp throw off for it.

AND we are giving a $20 Regal Theater pass for ctp on a hole of Kim's choosing.

So all you fence sitters that haven't decided if you and significant other are coming, maybe this will incent you a bit. It is going to be a great day.

If that were a Century Theatres gift card, I would be all over it, but I don't like Regal Cinemas. They are overpriced, and their quality tends to suck. If am paying $20 to see a movie, I expect it to be in focus, and to have clear audio.

Yes, 10:00 a.m. it is the weekend after all. No point in getting up too early.

Kent, great idea for mixing it up in the afternoon. How about we put all the guys names in a hat and let the ladies draw? Have a best shot doubles? We'll have time to figure something out in the morning.

Antonia is going to have a "ladies only", longest putt prize on one hole. :trophy:

More surprises? Maybe! Who knows!:biggrin2:

Murray, sorry you can't make it. Next time my friend!

So, here is what I remember of the day:

Julie won the Ace CTP Playoff for a 178 Super Roc on a 175 foot playoff temporary hole
Smobro won the CTP on #1 (with mando)
Will took CTP on #6
Shannon took longest putt on 10
Will freaking smoked a destroyer on 11 to land on the fire hydrant! Sick!
John got longest putt on #12 (creek hole)
John laid out a sick shot on 14 to take the movie tickets
Abell (pronounced A Bell) drove it huge on 17 for a Longest drive prize
Will hit CTP on 18 with a rad slider to the outside of the plate

Kimchee and Smobro shot a +2 for the win with Shannon and Will hot on their trail with a +3.

Thanks again everyone. We will do this at Lucky Mud next time for a weekend. I suggest RSVP'ing immediately for that one as space is limited.

We will do this at Lucky Mud next time for a weekend. I suggest RSVP'ing immediately for that one as space is limited.
TO BE ANNOUNCED.

The Cottage I believe sleeps 6 and the Inn has three rooms for 6 more. We might be able to arrange some camping too.

The daily rate (with a two-night minimum) for the cottage based on double occupancy is $150 plus $10 for each additional person per night. There is a $75 non-refundable cleaning fee. For disc golfers the third night is free.

Rooms at the Inn are: The daily rate based on double occupancy is $110 between October 1 and just prior to Memorial Day weekend, and $120 between Memorial Day weekend and September 30, plus $15 for each additional person per night.

If we are really wanting to do this we do need to book soon as the rooms at the Inn fill quickly.

The owners, Jessica and Sunrise are the best hosts you could ever hope for. AND Jessica is an absolutely fantastic cook. When Antonia and I stayed there last year, during dinner, Sunrise broke out the guitar and played for us while we ate. It really was a special moment for sure.
