Well I just got back from of safari golf at Riverfront and the thought occurred to me. "that final hole me and my group did was at least 2000 feet!" It was teepad 1 to 12 basket for anyone that knows where Riverfront is.

I have had a long-running fantasy wherein I start with my feet in the Pacific Ocean, throw a disc, and see how many throws it takes to get a disc into the Atlantic surf. Forrest Gump style.
It doesn't count though, seeing as how it is still imaginary.

Wouldn't it be the sh*ts to get there and then miss the putt?

I used to play a hole from my house on Taylor Street to Westmoreland......I would from throw from 11th and Taylor down the road for 2 blocks to 13th street, through the Faith Center Parking Lot and over Cesar Chavez Elementary School, over Amazon Creek and through the Field across 18th street to Hole #5.
It's exactly a 1/2 mile according to Google Earth.....The best I've ever shot is a 9 (I bombed a 500ft+ shot over the school and creek for my 5th shot :)). I always called it my Par 10 Westy Warm Up Hole.....peACE

Dalaiwood Ace Race; 1/2 mile hole. 2nd longest would be Milo's 1187 foot hole.

I remember Ed Munoz telling me about a tourney he played in Switzerland where a single hole went down the side of a mountain. I want to say that it took players more than 20 shots.

Defenitly the half mile hole at Dalaiwood. Go down the whole length of the property and hole out at the farthest basket and then come back up the length of the property and hole out again. By no means an easy hole. Get off the fairway and your probably pitching back out. Accuracy is almost more important than distance. The record is 12. Best I've done is 13 but I am one of few to have a putt for the 11. 3 putt Doh

Three safari holes come to mind. Downriver new 6 (old 7) to new 7 (old 9). Faragut Wreckreator 3 to Northstar 4 and Corbin Park hole 3 to new hole 5. All have to be over 700 feet.

According to the PDGA website, Flyboy Aviation Disc Golf Course in Whitesburg, GA "features the aptly titled “Longest Disc Golf Hole in the Universe.” Flyboy claims their 1600 foot par 7 - 18th hole is the longest known disc golf hole in the world."

The only question I have is... Why? I mean any hole over 1000ft is kind of showing off (McIver included).

It works out in the flow. The runway is longer than 1600 feet but to get back from the pin for 17 to the FlyBoy hangar, it happens to be 1600 feet. There's no way to get the routing so the 17 pin is closer to the hangar because the available corridors for holes thru the private compound are limited.

Why do you think holes over 1000 ft is showing off? Do you think par 5s in general are just a way to show off?

I guess I am quality vs. quantity guy. If you are going to do it… do it right. Putting in a 1000ft+hole and not putting a proportionate number of intermediate holes is showing off or being just lazy (I didn’t know how to make this in to two holes, so I just made one long one). A 1000ft hole takes up lot of land. If you have a room for 1000ft+ par-5 hole on your 18-hole course, you should also have the room for at least two or three par-4 holes as well. I would like to see more par-4 holes on 18-hole courses. I also think using the same course par theories in disc golf that they use in ball golf will benefit all players regardless of ability. McIver (and from the looks of it Flyboy) is a great example of this as it has a good mix of Par-3, par-4, and par-5s holes (although the map given out by OP&R doesn’t reflect that, because some of the holes on the east 18 are in fact legitimate par-4 holes). I understand that not every course will be able to do this but I think having at least two or three par-4 holes on every 18-hole course is possable.

Also, not a lot of courses can boast they have a 1000ft+ hole... let alone two.
