- Jeff Mittl was the only person to 2 Hole #11
- Brice Lang was the only person to 3 Hole #16.

It was awesome to watch. Nice drive with a Z Stalker, and then the hyzer down the channel with a glow disc. Glow Nuke maybe?

That's what I heard him say.

No matter how you look at it the course was setup to determine an Oregon Champion based on three factors in my opinion: Skill, Course management, and mental capability.

The course was not a lucky course by any means, and you can see that in the scores. Look at the spread between skill levels, and look at round score spreads and ratings across each divisions

example

Open
RD1 Score | RD1 Rating | Rd2 Score | Rd2 Rating | Rd3 Score | Rd3 Rating
Worst 73 921 73 930 77 901
Best 56 1046 54 1066 53 1073
And there was not anyone in that division that does not deserve to be playing there.

Kel Carver did the artwork. All I did was tell him generally what I was looking for and he came back with exactly what I had envisioned. He is the man!

Feedback from some of the players is that the course was tough but fair. The mental aspect got the better of a few people I talked to, but as an invitational tourney to crown the best in the state, it's good to increase the challenge on all levels.

Anyway, I'm mainly chiming in to say that the player's pack buzzz is one of the coolest full color discs I've ever seen. Great job.

Holy cow.
What a beautiful looking course!
From the scoring analysis it looks like Jeff designed a true championship course.
Kel's disc design is first rate.
This thread is enough to make me want to play better so one day I may be able to play this tourney!
I like Flash's reasoning. Lots of courses challenge a player's skill and course management ability. A true championship course also factors in mental (and physical) fortitude.
.... How does one qualify for the 2011 ORDGC?

As soon as I have secured the course for the event next year I'll coordinate with other Oregon TDs on which events will be qualifiers. I expect to go at this one even more aggressively next year. This year was just the beginning!!!

Actually, I was talking about the promotion of the event. If anything, I expect the course to be similar, with a few tweaks to address some inherent problems... none of which start with "Waaaah! It's too hard."

By "more aggressively" I assume you mean the inclusion of hay bales?

Good to hear you don't plan on changing the course much. I thought is was freaking awesome. It would be great to see the ORDGC played on the same course year after year.

No but hole 2 was just too easy so I am building a little powered windmill to install 35 feet in front of the basket to make the Ace run REALLY hard!:jumpspin:
