Well, THAT was depressing. Lowest rating I've had in 4 years. Time to take a step back from the whole tourney thing, I fear.

Down 9 and the lowest rating I have had in a long time. G, I certainly hope that that is not the answer. Let's talk because I am right there with you. I think it might be time to approach this shiznit from a different angle and I know that I could use a partner in... motivation.

The plan is working beautifully, actually.
One more update and I can move back down to Intermediate.

And that makes this update the starting point for Oregon Team Disc Golf 2010-11 for those with PDGA ratings.
Still room for one last team to play Saturdays! Get your 7 players together and grab that last spot.:cheerleader:

Despite playing some horrible tourney golf lately I moved up 2 to 946. Just not good enough though. After the disaster at Calapooia I have taken a couple weeks off from playing (maybe a good idea, maybe not) and re-evaluated my game. I have now lightened up my bag...going back to basics and I'm going to be working with new putters that I got last week...hopefully all this will help!

Finally hit 950 almost went up enough to validate my pro am divison. I guess after all the negative input about me playing in mm1 I have no choice but to leave the game as a tourney player, I have had a great time playing in all the tournaments over the past 6yrs and have made some great friends, thanks for all the great memories, and I hope to see you all on a course sometime. Happy trails!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, don't leave.. just play pro masters, pro grandmasters, or even advanced! You have plenty of various options, meet some new people and so forth...

I can't remember-
If you aren't a current member but play in a tournament (with the 10 dollar temporary member fee) do those rounds factor into your rating once you finally renew, or are they lost to the statistics heap for good?

If you are not current, enter an event but still give the TD your PDGA number, your ratings will be calculated and tracked by the PDGA even though you won't be able to see them on your record until you renew.

I think that your faith towards the 'ratings' has fogged up your spectacles.

Some people find more "Love of the Game" outside of tournaments. Actually, I'd say that applies to the overwhelming majority of discers.

It's perfectly simple. If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move your brother's clothes down to the lower peg. You simply collect his note before lunch, after you've done your scripture prep, when you've written your letter home, before rest, move your own clothes onto the lower peg, greet the visitors, and report to Mr. Viney that you've had your chit signed.

Really? Negative input? You won the last tournament you were in by 17 strokes. You have more than 50 trophies in the MM1 division - WAY more than anyone else. You have more third place trophies in the MM1 division than anyone else has total trophies. There was a spreadsheet made just for you to track this! Your nickname for years has been Sandy Bagger. And now you complain about negative input, Jeff?
Either embrace it and tell those of us with sour grapes to stuff it or move up. To stop playing tournaments over this seems kind of silly to me...

I understand it. I take breaks from competitive play when my game slips. Usually a couple month break, come back and whatever was broken is usually fixed. The ratings can help me determine when it's time to take a break.

Your rating can go down even when you're playing your best game.
If your game slips why do you need the rating to let you know you're chundering?
If there were no ratings you'd probably still know if and when it was time to take a break. Right?
I do respect the rating game and I know it's only going to get more dialed in.
I'm actually just having some fun picking on the Sam's and TL's of this world.
Integrity can show the true rating of one's game, and will usually let you know what division to play in.

Finally, got the big drop I deserved after a very sub-par summer of tournament play. Playing back to back to back to back PDGA tournaments while working a stressful job was an easy way to enjoy all of those, fun and well-run events less. But it was a good lesson learned, space out play and learn to step back and see the bigger DG picture. Hopefully my three month break from DG here in Guatemala will only allow me to enjoy the game EVEN more when I return to the great NW
