Team/express golf > 10/23 & 24
Oh, there will be a stone with rules written on them regarding express.
#1 rule is your team has to be from the same area/town.
Examples:
Roseburg
Medford
Grants Pass
Eugene???????
Coos Bay
Stay tuned.
Jesse, call me if you want.

Last year was the only year a team entered with mixed towns and it was because the rules weren't clear enough. :rolleyes2:
Hence the stone. :biggrin2:
For more than a decade it's been about city/town braggin' rights more than just ringing a win. :wink2:
I'm just wunderin' which Roseburg team will win it? :biggrin2:

I likes me some stone written rules. What do we think about some of the other details? I spoke w/ Zaq and there was a little talk of how many per team. I think 10 per will make it hard for Meddy or Coos to get a team together. Gabe is going to have a week old baby so right now its just me, JB, and aaron. I haven't spoke with Dricks in a while and can't think of any Ams off the top of my head. Its hard to form a team with no course to get golfers from. What do you guys think? Lets hear it. :trophy:

So word on the streets is that express is going to be 8 man teams this year. 5 pros, one adv, one am and a lady. :pullhair:

Hopefully we (Medford) are gonna be able to scrape 8 people up. Seems to me like some of the other towns are gonna have some issues getting that many. Not sure why the 5 man teams weve used the last few years needed to change. If its a goal to let more people play couldnt a town just make another 5 man team?

Just thinkin more peeps on a team may mean less teams this year. Maybe i wrong though. my 2 cents

Save your hair bud, it's still only discussion. :biggrin2:
It's not necessarily about getting more people to play, as this is a very huge commitment. In all the 13 years we've done expresso's I've seen it work best when you have as many team members as the number of courses you play. With that said, we usually have the light and time to play 6 course's, 3 a day.
That way each player gets to play singles at least once.
Perhaps we talk it up this weekend amongst our locals and make a plan.

Yose can we please get an official word on team sizes, it sounded like 6 (4 pro 1 adv 1 am) but we are waiting for the final ruling so we can finalize our roster.

Scotty,

6 person teams
4 pro
1 adv.
1 am

As we ALL know, your team has to come from your town/city.
Exceptions can be made if all teams agree.
You must play in the division you do in SOWS.
You can move up if needed, but never down.
Alternates may be used. (one player on Sat., different one on Sun.)

pro's play 2 singles per course, with 1 pro/am and 1 pro/adv dubs.
NO am/adv singles.
Mix up the pro/am,adv dub groups so you all play with someone different.
Hand in line-up for the whole gig before we start.
Jesse, would you want to take care of the points again?

Andrew,
Eugene is more than welcome.
Just ask about the Express we had a few years ago when Davery showed up.
Team Umpqua was within 2 points after the Riverfront gig, and I know they felt the pressure, because Sunday morning these fellers came out playing like they wanted to be world champs and crushed the field. :rolleyes2:

Like the year we played 135 holes?
What is the reasoning for not having the same format where adv and am get to play singles rounds as well

Pardon me but, I only remember playing 4 courses/rounds last year.
Key word at my age is remember. :biggrin2:
We have had am/adv singles with some pro/pro dubs, but I seem to (key word) that the am and adv singles rounds took a lot of time.
Some pro dubs were done close to an hour before am/adv singles were.
Also I think it makes it so all pros get a dubs round with an am and an adv which I don't (key word) happening last year.
One more thing, I'm only trying to help keep this going year after year.
I don't consider myself running it, but alas most of you do.
SO, when you fellers ask "what's the rules Yose", and I throw em out there, why can't don't you just say OK, and then show up and play?
Some of these ?'s could've been asked months ago.
Of course then.... I'd have to try and (key word) those too. :chinscratch:
Just saying. :biggrin2:

So without trying to get you on the defensive we are just trying to figure out what is going on. I think Jesse and team medford is with me on this. I do believe that we played 6 rounds last year. I just tried to look for an old post from last year on here and was unable to find one. We are playing reguardless, but we do have to do a lot of traveling for this and are attempting to get everything planned out, a little of that depends on the schedule for the weekend.

If you say we are playing 4 not 6 then we are probably doing that, not trying to step on your feet or anything, but everyone does wait to hear from you for this event. I know Zaq tried a few months ago to assist in getting this planned out, but not much came of it.

Scotty, you are correct, we played 4 courses plus nine holes at wolf creek at the end of the first day. Having said that though I think this years format is fair and should work out just fine.
Yose, I don't mind helping with points as long as we figure out a point system within the next few days so i don't do a CRAPLOAD of work, only to have the point system get changed from the previous year half way through the tourney, negating my work. ;) I will give you a call today and when we come up with a system i will post it here for everyone to see.

So, Just to refresh...

Teams: 6 person Teams made up of 4 pros, 1 advanced player, 1 Am player.

Format: Each team is to have 2 pro singles and a Pro/am dubs and a Pro/Adv. Dubs per course.

Courses: Saturday Morning: Selmac > tee @ 9 am
Saturday Afternoon: Tom Pearce
Sunday Morning: Whistlers > tee @ 9 am

You can move up if needed, but never down.
Alternates may be used. (one player on Sat., different one on Sun.)

Each team is required to bring a paper with your team name and roster on it. It must also contain your lineup for the entire weekend on it. (see example roster in next post)
Each pro must play 2 singles rounds and 1 dubs round with your advanced player and 1 dubs round with your am. So you can't have a pro play with the same am twice.

Points: (see Points post)

....And remember people, this isn't a fancy shmancy sanctioned super event. It's a good old fashioned team tourney for town bragging rights, (and a sweet salad bowl trophy :trophy: ), and most importantly it is to have a shitload of fun with friends and kick off the SOWS. Ok, so i just got off the phone with Yose and here is how the points will work.

There will be points based on how your pro/am dubs, pro/adv. dubs, and pro singles finish.

Lets say 8 teams show up. That makes 16 Pro singles, 8 Pro/Am dubs and 8 Pro/Adv. Dubs per course.
After each round on each course all the pro singles scores will be tallied. First place will get 16 points 2nd will get 15 and so on and so forth down to 1 point for last.
Then all Pro/Adv. dubs scores will be tallied. First place will get 8 points, 2nd will get 7 and so on and so forth down to one point for last.
Then Pro/Am dubs scores will be tallied. First place will get 8 points, 2nd will get 7 points and so on and so forth down to 1 point for last.
There will be fractional points in the event of a tie. For example if 2 pros tie for first place we will add the 16 and 15 points from first and second and split it between them. They would each get 15.5 points for first.

This is a very easy, very fair way to do the points. If you have any questions please ask.
