What misinformation? Sorry, I don't know enough about the Newberg area to tell.

Newberg is not that far from Portland to suggest that there is no organization in the area. We have a very healthy club that certainly considers Newberg a suburb of Portland.
Also, it wasn't but a couple years back that T-Ry ran his Hillbilly Open in the city of Newberg. And I ran a Tour of Portland event at Ewing 3 years ago.
Just seemed like the article wasn't as researched as it could have been...

3 years ago.. its 45-60 minutes away at least.. just for doubles or something like that.. its not too extremely far but far enough to be a great gas cost and a big time commitment

From town, it is really no farther than Troutdale.

Not to mention that Newberg is about 20 minutes or so from McMinville. There are all sorts of tournaments over there. To say that there is no organized disc golf activity in the area is either myopic or just plain false.

Right, Scott. Hadn't even considered that.

“Once you get closer to Portland, there’s more groups interested in doing it, but the closest thing to an organization you see right now is probably Facebook groups,” Brown said. “But depending on what happens with this tournament, hopefully with the list that we’ve built, we might be able to start some kind of club. It could turn into something.”
This quote taken from tha article makes it sound like the groups closer to Portland are only Facebook groups. Huh I would not call Stumptown a Facebook group. If that is not what the writer meant to imply then the wording at the very least could have been better.

Just read the article, then saw the byline. I know the author. I can get you in touch if you feel the need to fill him in.

I'm from newberg and I feel you guys are being way to picky over something so small. Just look at it that DG got some extra publicity. Also it seems mcminnville only has there Tuesday thing and that's not a club I think its just a group of people who love to disc.

Accuracy in reporting is by no means a little thing. :nono:
And Terry runs at least 2-3 PDGA tournaments per year over at Wortman in addition to his Tuesday night thing.

The calender shows every Sunday at Wortman. Almost every Sunday of the year. Sometimes I play somewhere else like Ohio. I like to see any article about disc golf that isn't a negitive one. I think the area is meaning Newberg only. We have a couple of guys from Newberg that come out almost every Sunday. Both Steve and myself take care of most of the doings. Not big enough to need a full blown club. But there's always something going on at Wortman.
