Aces at Rockwood don't count.

OK... yes they do. Just kidding. Nice that you would start this thread. I hit basket at Cook park but I don't think I could have gotten the kids in the park to "witness" anything as I am pretty sure that they thought I was insane - throwing plastic plates at my bird cage and all... :whistler:

Don't be giving this guy any credit for that garbage ace... I was right there about to tee off on hole 3 when that disc started knocking leaves and apples off the tree as it filtered all the way though the branches and just dropped into the basket with a dull thud. It never even touched a single chain the entire time. BS I say! BS!

Ok. So it wasn't THAT bad, but really!

That place has a way of giving up aces off of trees. In fact, I think I have a disc with your signature on it, Jeff.

When are we going to BT again? I downgraded my tag down to 54, just for you.

I got one this weekend, too... in doubles on Friday. I called it, though, so that was pretty cool.

Adair - Hole 15A - 197 feet
RHBH - 180g Flat top Roc (Thank you Yose for the advice and Bruce for the disc!)

That's two legit aces at Adair and a second shot on Cambodia that went in. I love that place!

Gwillim hit hole #15 in the short today at Pier. Looked great the whole way, and made the comment "That could go in..." and then it did. Actually, it was probably the fourth or fifth ace run he had during that round - that one just was just going to be a little long if it hadn't hit the basket. I think he also shot seven down even though there was three bogeys in there too. It was a great one to witness, and I think his first ace in about 15 months. There was also much laughter during the round....

Got an ace on #13 at Black Mouse (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1016) in Felton, CA this afternoon. Funny thing is, it was the same course, same hole, same disc, same shot as my last ace, which was in March of this year. I own that hole. :biggrin2:

After numerous near misses at Lunchtime over the past year, I finally got my first Lunchtime ace today. Been a long time coming.

Hole 7 from the long tee. Wizard up the middle hyzer to straight, kissed the chains right in the sweet spot and stayed there for a change.

Probably the easiest ace on the course, I've seen it hit at least 2 other times.

On Halloween I aced number 1 at Willamette with a Z Surge (in the left position). Perhaps my best ace to date (in terms of difficulty). 380' hole guarded by two large trees. Slight turnover that glided out, faded into the basket and stuck! Brad McDougal witnessed it and nearly died when I almost aced hole three that same round throwing the turnover route. I thnk that puts me in the mid-twenties for number of aces...not sure though, might be more.

Today, hole 1 at Mud got it in grand style. His eminence, the Bishop, nearly hit it on his drive and on the very next shot, Zippyboy got'er did. Both were beautiful shots. Though the Bishop's drive rolled over the edge and down the hill, he still pulled out the deuce while I clocked my first bogie of the day.

Nice first ace!

:o Thanks, guys. I had decided to take Friday off from work - which I rarely get to - and just sort of hang out for the day. Got up, and started playing a little GH:WT, then headed out to play a free-roll Texas Hold 'Em game at the local casino (finished 18th out of 60). After my better than expected performance there, Bishop and I made our way to the Mud. First throw in two weeks, the 173g ESP Avenger SS just skipped over the basket, and right into the chains. This, just after Bishop nearly missed chaining it, and right after Ol' Bob told us that the hole had never been aced before. We were yelling so loudly, Jessica came out of the Inn to see what was up. What an awesome feeling. I was worried my first one would come at hole #10 at Trojan, with my Lightning #2 Driver. Suffice to say, I couldn't have been happier getting the first one at the Mud, in the company of Bob and Corey. Best. Friday. Evar.

Believe me, I'm not. It is ALWAYS in the arsenal at Trojan. That being said, I would not have liked it to have been my first ace disc. I have no problem throwing Lightning discs, unlike a lot of people. However, also unlike a lot of people, one of my home courses is Trojan... :biggrin2:

My regular putter is the Lightning #2 Upshot in Prostyle plastic. (I also think the Rubber Putter isn't bad, and it's a floater.)

However, my only aces so far are with Discraft midranges (Breeze, Buzzz, Drone x2)...

Thanks Sam! Good times yesterday.

For those that weren't there, this was my first ace. The hole was dogleg right with the creek running along the left side and back of the dogleg. I threw a 172 CFR Destroyer forehand just inside the mando on the right and the disc disappeared. When I threw it, I thought it a good shot and I would be putting for two. It was at least a full 2 second after the disc went around the corner that we heard the chains. It must have had a huge skip. After everyone threw Sam made a B-Line for the parking lot to get a good look around the corner and sure enough, it was sitting in the basket .

Some weeks back, Lucky Mud's hole 1 gave up its first ace. I happen to know it was a virgin who aced it. Now I'm wondering why he never calls (or golfs here) anymore. Yes, it was some ace, but did he respect us in the morning?

Sorry.

Back-to-back wild Saturday nights/early Sunday mornings have kept us from rolling your direction. And, truth be told, I did mean to call, but my mind ended up in a purple haze both times, and I didn't remember until the wee hours of the morning. My bad.

However, I have this Friday off, and I am thinking of heading out there. I will keep you posted. I also have a gift for you (from the 'Nation, more or less), so don't let me forget that.

It's not too downhill - it's short - def a putter shot for most. There is a steep downhill just left of and long of the basket.

whoa nelly, last saturday in rocklin, ca, right before the ice bowl tournament, i was warming up doing some holes. first hole i go up to is nbr 10, cross a creek around a bunch of trees hard left 310 feet. Threw a beautiful line through the trees, skipped smoothly into the basket, ACEEE, my second ace ever and best part is, there must have been like 50 people warming up about 200 feet away who all heard the big chaching *ofc i didnt hear it, but saw it thank goodness*. Made my day awesome, posted a -3 for the day with a 2nd round -5 *those who know me, i am famous for choking in the 2nd round* and won 2 more raffles! *have won 13 raffles in 5 straight DG tournaments, i have never won in my life before this 5 straight raffles* Disc Golf, I love you.

I'm actually disappointed that we didn't get to play GBS... thankfully there's still hope: we could end up playing them in the finals providing Big Winds kicks some ass, Putt This! wins (but not by too much), and we kick the shit out of Vapor Trails (which is highly likely haha).

No righty route??? I beg to differ, and now Ebee will back me on this...lolI believe there are at least two righty routes on that hole, and that's just with a backhand. Cool hole to ace though since you really have to shape the line well just to get there with a RHBH.

Oh and by the way. A few weeks ago I had a repeat ace on 7 at Lunchy from the long pad. But what really made it fun was that I was deliberately trying to ace it this time, and I told my brother before I teed off that he better be paying attention cause this one is going in the basket.

Come lunchy league I will wait for the acepot to fill up for a couple weeks then I'm gunning for 7 again.

??? I say wives count at least seven to ten TIMES any smelly old guy disc golfer!

Case in point: dude at Milwaukee Worlds in my group first rounds scores 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, not in that order, on his first 5 holes played. On that 5th hole, he scores an ace, witnessed from hand to basket, and personally signed, by NONE OTHER THAN Juliana Korver herself! Which signature on his disc do you think he prizes most? Not the other 4 old crusty guys in the group (my self included), that's for sure!

Now that's a wife that counts!

Example 2: My first ace ever, DX Aviar, Benson State Park, hole 4, witnessed by NONE OTHER THAN: my wife, Kara! SWEET! :kissflowers:

Went out to Lakewood today. Stepped out to the first tee and ripped my new Groove. Was looking like it was going to be a little too short, then it skipped, and just ricocheted off of the top of the bottom basket and didn't settle in. Drop-in birdie, and I was happy at that, and at the great shot--was just a little disappointed though that, if it had skipped just 1 inch higher, I would have had a skip-in ace for my first ace on the first basket of Lakewood on the first time playing the course. Would've been nice.....

Finally, today, after playing for almost three years, I got my first ace!

Non-tournament, but sooper-dooper cool nonetheless. Witnessed by the rest of our weekend meet-up; Andy, Travis and 'Chelle.

Hole #12, Highbridge DGC
261' , elevated tee (25')
blind hole--basket is behind a small stand of Ponderosa
Sunny and 40 with a slight 5-7mph tailwind
RHFH Star Sidewinder 171g, plenty of wear
Came off a little higher than intended but turned over just enough to compensate for the fade at the end
Looked like it came down in front of the basket and I didn't hear chains but there was a CLUNG and everyone erupted with "It's in there!"
So cool. One of the holes I've always wanted to ace and definitely a hole I've been driving at for a while. I've hit the basket twice with BH drives and raked the chains once with a similar FH drive.

I now have an ace disc with three women's signatures on the back, which is rare in these parts. We don't quite have the same ratios as you have down in Portland!

I aced hole 3 on the Canyon course yesterday. I threw the ace with a Z-Xtreme. When it when in, Ebee said something to the effect of, "Yay! I've got a sharpee so we can all sign your disc!". To which I responded something to the tune of, "There is NO chance in Hell you're going near that disc with a sharpee!". If anyone knows the discs in my bag, the ace was with the flying elephant...and no one is going to mark that baby up! So Ebee signed my throwing arm instead...

Was there 2 aces at GNO? Did I also hear somebody aced #9? That would be the sickest ace. Talk about a true risk reward shot. It's either in or deep in the river. Gotta take big guts to go for that one in tournament play

Yep.

The other ace went to Suzie Jones on hole #17. My question is this: With Suzie being 5 months pregnant, will that kiddo already have an ace when born??? I'm thinking yes. How awesome is that?

Because you have to throw over what amounts to a jungle and the goal is blind.

Where was the basket? I think that there is a basket location that does not require the over-the-jungle throw, but I have not played it.

All three positions require you to go over or around Cambodia.

Look at the b position on this map. It seems to that a RHFH or RHBH turnover shot could reach it OK without going over Campbodia. In fact, I think that's how I became aware of this position; my shot from the tee landed a few feet from the collar. And there's no way in hell that my puny arm throws over that jungle.

Sam
May 4th, 2009, 01:21 PM
Again... all three positions require you to go over or around. I know that there is a route over the jungle to that position, Scott, as I showed that line to Tim Price and Jason Pinkal one day. :whistler:

Ray's ace was sick and only the second time that hole position as been aced (Colin Sexton being the first that I know of). I called it out of Ray's hand and Shane Waters called it about half way down the fairway, we all stopped and listened and were rewarded. Hole 14 ~ 350

Why do they call it Cambodia?

Well if you haven't spent quality time tromping through tall grass, wild roses, and gnarly thickets searching for discs on this hole you probably just wouldn't appreciate why Mike Storrs gave it that name.

Long right. Not to far from #15 teepad.

Actually it is in the middle position halfway to the long right position. It is so much easier to reach that spot... :rolleyes2:
