Yesterday during the 3rd round of the ODDGA summer open at Milo East, hole #11 in the "short" pin placement, slight anny route. Kelli was holing out, just pulled out her disc when a disc flies inches from her head and smashes chains for an Ace. Her initial reaction was shock that she was inches away from being seriously injured by a driver at the same time seeing an ace that upclose. I was at hole 15 and saw Kelli walking away from #11 and she told me the story. What pissed me off was there was a spotter who saw the whole thing, wtf was he doing telling his group of noobs to tee off when there was a group still putting out? It was a group of 5-6 guys and they didn't even realize they could have seriously hurt another disc golfer and be scorned by the disc golf community for being idiots. This hit a big spot inside me because I have known Kelli since I was 2 and is the godmother of my 2nd son and I got her into this sport and to see her narrowly escaping serious injury in this sport hurts a bit... If anyone knows who aced #11 East yesterday, or the group he was in, make sure they all know how lucky they are for not ruining the weekend for themselves and for us. Back to ace glory for Bob!

Randy isn't in this forum, so I'll have to brag on him. He got his first ace today at Orchard! He hit an extremely clean shot on 4, and it went in, no chains. Disc was an avenger SS. Too bad I was at work, and couldn't see it.

What a week! He hit his first CTP on Saturday, collected his first payout on Sunday, and now a first ace on Wednesday. I'm not sure what's left for the rest of the week!

I was able to cash an ace during a glow round on the short course at HH. It was a gentle hyzer straight into the basket on hole 9. It was fun to share with the Darkhorse family.

Rob Smith also aced hole 8 (the previous round) with a redirect off the right tree blowing up the chains.

To me if its a drive from the t-pad and hits chains and stays in the basket then its an ace?

But he took 3 tries to do it.

The term "Ace" refers to the number "1" ON A SCORECARD
Just as "Deuce" refers to a "2" ON A SCORECARD
This means, to me, that the throw should be made during a round and no extra or practice shots were taken during said round. Those are the only throws I call Aces.
Tell me, If you threw 3 practice throws that did not go in, but managed to sink one of the second throws from long range, would you be bragging about the great deuce you made?

idiots like that schmuck on YouTube have bastardized the term "Ace"
I seriously doubt that he has many real aces.

As I said, it was a nice throw, but that is all it was.

Acehole (ace-hole) - noun

1. A person who constantly admonishes others regarding their hole in ones.

example: "Little Johnnie got his first hole in one during a practice round before a tournament, but some acehole approached and told him it didn't count"

But if the first is true, shouldn't the second one follow? Look at the title of the thread!

Agreed, it was a spectacular throw and deserves recognition.

Maybe we need a new thread. Something like: "The Shot of the Day".

There we could recount great throws that are not Aces; Chundered drives that end up as birdies, Impossible par saves and Third Shot Throw Ins From the Tee Box.

If a man farts in the woods there is one person to see if it smells. The one who ripped it and it depends on if he ate taco bell the night before.

Although it may not be an "Ace". I Believe it is much more noteworthy than a second shot hole in one. Certainly deserves some credit and some recognition. You can "eagle" a hole without a "fairway ace" shot, so no that is not an eagle, nor did we play it par 4.

If you play ball golf and hole out with a 5 iron from the fairway regardless of the par, it's never an ace. ACE means that you holed out in one stroke.

Yesterday I aced hole 16 at Horning's Hideout--Canyon Course 168 star boss...straight drive between the trees then hyzer begins and it skips in! This is my first time playing any of the Horning's courses. I also had what I was told was a great drive on 18, the 700 footer. Big annie shot with a pro boss, it pans out right before we lose sight of it. A guy in the group says "I want to see that again" so I pulled out a pro destroyer and threw the identical shot. We found both discs about 20 ft apart from eachother in front of the lake water (the lake isn't really full of water yet, and the guys said that if the lake were full those would probably both be water shots). Also shot a 49 for that round, my first round back after 2 months of rehab on an injured throwing hand.

It's a hole in one, in that it was one throw from the tee to the basket. An ace is when a (1) is recorded on a scorecard, which this was not.

Not even tempted by those short tees, eh? I don't think they're for grownups.

Because of taking extra shots on #6, I've sure found a lot of extra plastic. I have to resist the urge to unload on #6. Long and left can run into real time.

Got Tyler Blais to come out to Jerry Miller DGC @ Camp Taloali today to play the new pin placements. We are both having pretty good rounds when we get up to hole 17 with it in it's new elevated pin placement. Its a straight tunnel shot to the basket and he gets up there and flicks a sidearm 147 flick that just skims the left side and slowly fades in perfectly wham 170' ace on an elevated basket that isn't even 24 hours old in its new placement. Best Ace I have ever witnessed other than my own. Gave him a $10 from my ace money bag, an ace on my course, in a new pin placement I worked on, and playing with me? That was too good... picture to come soon.

He also gabbed the Next Adventure Secret Ace bounty and a bounty for getting the first ace of the year (A first run Archon). He used the same disc for both aces. Any guesses as to what it was?

Acehole (ace-hole) - noun

1. A person who constantly admonishes others regarding their hole in ones.

example: "Little Johnnie got his first hole in one during a practice round before a tournament, but some acehole approached and told him it didn't count"

I can include a picture too if you want.

Hole 7 135 feet. He was throwing side arm using 1st Annual Camp Taloali DGA Sparkle Rouge 172g to go through the two trees which was standing between the narrow fairway with little elevation uphill with many rocks in the fairway near the basket. It flew low then hit the rock, then it flipped over and over and over into the basket. There were another two aces on same day; same round; and same course: one again hole 7 and another one is hole 2. There was $500 ace pot which split into third between them. :trophy:

It was a champ Banshee from about 300' that came in fast and low on the chains and fortunately stuck. Knowing that Rolly was playing Am. and probably had a five or more stroke lead on me gave me the opportunity to go for chains and many holes.

This guy walkes to the t-pad and does the Hulk Hogan what-what , says I can hear chains, and then throws an ace. Hole 13 red, white river dgc. Not only did that cost me 20$ for the t-bone, but I have to make this post too. NEVER again will I make that kind of bet..

Ace=T-bone dinner?? So I was being a smart-ass to a fellow disc golfer and bet him a t-bone dinner if he aces the next hole. If he misses I get to keep his new star orc.
That was KC by the way who got the ace and a t-bone dinner...

Lakewood park acepot today had two aces.

Gordy.......hole #14 in the short position just after andy faris parked it and i blew by it..........very sweet.

Bjorn.........hole #15 (geezer) in the short position just moments after gordy hit his. I was ready to drive on #16 and heard the chains get smashed. Gordy was smiling as bjorn gave a shout out to him across the fairway.......again it was pretty sweet.

Pretty cool to see two aces within 15 minutes.

Ace race aces don't count.

So it's an ace, from a teepad, on the first throw. That counts. I wouldn't say they are spectacular aces but they still count. Otherwise it would be called something to the effect of "disc in the basket on the first throw but doesn't count as an ace" race.

Discrap can call it anything they like. Just because Obama calls himself a democrat doesn't make it so.

The event is contrived. It is not golf. Therefore they are not aces. Most of these shots are more akin to sinking a long putt.

Whether it's 100 ft or 200 feet, it's still the first shot from the pad, therefore an ace.

If these shots do not qualify as an ace in your opinion please enlighten us to what does instead of just saying "that's not an ace"

Ace race aces don't count.

I could really give a rusty rat crap as to what officially qualifies in your, or anyone else's for that matter, personal opinion reality as an "ace".

If I'm at the teepad and put a disc in the basket in one throw, that's an ace. Whether it's at the Ace Race, a PDGA tourney, a benefit, a Glow Throw, a doubles, a casual round with friends or playing solo -- in my mind, it is, and always will be, an ace. I wouldn't disparage anyone else, who loves this game enough and strives to continuously improve, their own personal joy of achieving what they set out to do when they stepped up to the pad -- I am at a loss as to why you feel the need to do so.

Unfortunately, that's the problem with those that suffer from acute self-importance -- they can't keep their snide pessimism to themselves.:rolleyes2:

I think they make a great long-putter -- ton of glide. Really holds the line you give it, even when you're throwing hard. Hardly fades back at the end. The big diameter makes it a difficult fit in the bag though.:(

Matthew has been on a tear lately.

Last Sunday he hit hole 10 at HH Highlands.
Yesterday he hit hole 18, also on the Highlands (same disc).
Today hit hole 8 on the Canyon course.

Three aces in 8 days. In the same stretch, he's had 3 metal hits and one chain out.
