Taking a trip to the San Juan islands in a couple of weeks. The Roche Harbor disc golf course is 3 miles from our cabin so we'll probably play that. Does anyone know of any other courses in the area? The PDGA site showed a 27 holer on Pender Island that looked cool, getting the wife to take a ferry to disc golf will be funny

Vashon Island would be hard to get too from San Juan. You would have to take the ferry back to Anacortes and then drive to Seattle (80-90 miles) and take another ferry to get to Vashon. The Vashon course isn't worth the time let alone the $20 for the ferry ride. The Roche Harbor Disc Golf Course on San Juan is decent though.

Pender is the oldest course in BC and a must for those who love great disc golf.

Pender kicks butt! A small island with cool people. Wish I could go more often!

Why would it be any funnier than getting her to take you anywhere else? :nahnah:

Yeah, but to get to Pender Island you have to take two ferries and suffer through an international border crossing. I'm not sure, but if you want to bring your car, I think you have to board the ferry in Anacortes--you can get to Sidney from Friday Harbor as a foot passenger though, or.... you can take the Victoria Clipper from FH and rent a motorcycle in Victoria and cruise up to Pender...depending on your schedule and degree of opulence.;)

This is true and if you haven't been there in a while, they expanded the course to 18 holes at the beginning of this summer (although that really means that they only added 5 new pins and you incorporate parts of the front 9 to make up the rest, but the new holes are all farther back in the woods just as technical as the rest and, considering the obvious amount of effort required to carve some of these new holes into the thick woods of the course, they are awesome! The new route doesn't have signs yet, so you have to follow the surveyor's tape that marks the new trail at the west end of the parking lot. Some of the trails between the holes are kinda long, but they are amply marked. I heard from the locals that these long trails will eventually:yawn: become the rest of the missing holes.
