Who actually owns the baskets in a public park?
Whistlers Bend and Riverfront courses were paid for by the Umpqua Disc Association, by way of many CFR gigs, fundraiser's,and all of you dger's.
I'll check again but I remember our parks peeps mentioned something about their insurance would cover the theft of baskets.
I'm curious how other park systems may handle these issues.
If they had to cover costs from theft perhaps they'd be into a "preventive theft" installation, if there is such a thing.

Yoseman all the state parks we donated the baskets to them and the same for Timber park. We have had baskets stolen from both groups and they replaced them and covered the cost. someone even stoled 2 baskets at once from Dabney and had them returned after they paid for 2 more. I believe if you put a course in that they become the ownership of the park. In Oregon we have not have the problem of the course being pulled and having to go after the baskets from the parks department.

I think once you place a permanent object in a public park it becomes public (city/county) property unless there was an agreement beforehand. Most permanent fixtures you see in parks say "donated by" or something to that sort showing that there is no ownership by the people who funded or installed said fixture. This is just a wild guess with no foundation other than my own observation.
