Mayoral Conference in Cottage Grove

All of the mayors from Oregon are coming to Cottage Grove on Thursday, July 29th which is tomorrow.

Forty-two have signed up for the educational seminar which explains the benefits of having a disc golf course in a city park. Also 20+ signed up for the small disc golf tournament ( just nine holes). Ball golf has only 13 signed up. (Had to throw that in)

Anyway, due to conflicting work schedules, I only have 4 volunteers so far. I am still in WV and I won't be able to make it.----obviously. Anyone who wants to take part in this are more than welcome---just let me know. All volunteers need to be there about 1:00PM and everything starts at 1:30. I know this is last minute but I had enough volunteers to begin with and now it has dwindled. Please contact me asap so I can give you more details. I would like to have a disc golfer with each group to instruct and help find the discs if they go in the rough. :)

This could be huge for disc golf in Oregon and possible new courses in the city parks!!!!!!

Wow, that's exciting. I hope the mayor of Dallas is there to talk up their new course; it was such an unexpected spot to squeeze in 18 holes.

real quick update here:

over 20 mayors and their wives/husbands attended on wednesday. it was super fun to see such enthusiasm from both sides and i think it's safe to say that we planted many seeds throughout the oregon community.

We talked about the benefits of disc golf from a community standpoint, an educational standpoint, an economical standpoint as well as the overall health benefits that can occur. many questions were asked from many different mayors and we did our best to answer them in an informative and intellegent mannar. (we even used statistics! http://www.ezupa.com/misc/banana-still.gif)

I got to play 9 holes with the mayor from Oakridge and his wife. they were very receptive and excited about getting a course put in in their area, and will seek help from the EDGC when the time comes. (i also did a little repping for ninkasi, hee hee :biggrin2:)

A BIG SHOUT OUT to Tom Chrestman who did a tremendous job speaking and joking around in front of such a prestigious group of people. Eugene Fackler, Shawn Barnett, Bruce Sisson, Randy Huntoon, Samwise the Brave, Kevin Maloney, Hazard Discs, and whoever else was out there, THANK YOU!. there most certainly will be positive repercussions from this in the near future. WHAT AN AWESOME THING TO BE A PART OF!!!
