It's going down late February. I need to talk to the TD and see where he's at with things. Then I'll report back. Expect more info by next week.

Thanks Ryan.

Are the remaining dates set in stone yet?

It would be nice to know so that the dates can be set aside.

I wish I had definitive answer for you, Scott, but I don't. Hopefully by next week I'll have everything nailed down for #3 and also the dates for #4. Feel free to keep on me about it!

Slosh 3 apparently is slated for Feb 21st at Leverich Park. Its posted on the stumptown site, but for some reason no Stumptown representative has posted it on this forum yet.

Good find Troy, I hadn't even seen that post. Be reminded that it does say "preliminary, subject to change". There is a TD meeting tomorrow night so I'll let them post All the details after that.

12 holes. If I recall, only one over 300', and one at 290'. Most are easy to slightly technical.

Thanks,

Details are still being worked out. Course in it's current configuration is not very long. 12 holes. mostly natural tee pads. However, the tourney layout is a bit different (I use tourney layout loosely because it isn't finalized and can be changed). Tourney layout will add more holes to bring it to at least 15. There will be holes that will be longer and have more difficulty in this layout, including the possible island hole. With that said it should be a fun course and will give some challenge to everyone who plays. Besides it is bringing a PDGA event to SW Washington, I think that is flippin sweet.

Hope to see you there

Registration for the Stumptown Wash Slosh is now OPEN!!!!!

Wash Slosh Registration (http://store.stumptowndg.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23)

Due to course restrictions, we are only able to accommodate 64 players in the event. Translation: GO REGISTER RIGHT NOW!

The player's pack for amateur divisions will be a long sleeve cotton t-shirt, a sticker, and maybe something else if I can scrounge something together. The long-sleeve Ts are pretty wicked though!

I am currently fielding constructive questions.

I welcome suggestions on proposed changes to the layout at Leverich for the upcoming Wash Slosh. It is our desire to make the course fun and challenging for all levels of players.

Hole 1: Round one normal (current) layout. Round two the basket will be in the short position (so hole 14 (11) can be long) however, the tee will be moved back into the parking lot. Possible O.B. line separating the fairway of 1 & 15 (12).

Hole 2: Normal round 1, possibly move the tee back up hill for round two.

Hole 3 & 5: Add out-of-bounds line down center of field to indicate fairway for each hole, this provides for player safety and makes both holes slightly more challenging. Considering moving basket farther back for round two.

Hole 4: Round one normal layout. Round two move tee to a under the 15th Avenue overpass. Drop zone for mando in round 1

Hole 5: Considering the possibility of moving the tee back for round two.

Hole 6: A new hole located on the north side of the path which runs parallel to the current hole 6. Path and left of path O.B.

Hole 7: Drop zone for missed mando, possible alternate pin placement for round two.

Hole 8: A new hole located just south of the hole 7 basket and throwing east towards the tee for hole 11.

Hole 9: Normal hole 6, (as always) the path and everything to the right (north) of path is out of bounds.

Hole 10: Normal hole 8 first round, second round tee is moved back approximately 100'

Hole 11: Normal hole 9

Hole 12: Normal tee for hole 10, with basket located in the short position. Second round, might be a short hole over the creek.

Hole 13: New hole plays to normal basket 10, tee will be from the path directly west of the basket. Second round would then be the current hole 10. As always, the paths and everything beyond the path is O.B. including south of the far path near creek.

Hole 14: Normal hole 11. Play to short position in round one, plays to long position for round two.

Hole 15: Normal hole 12. Round one plays to normal position, Round two plays to an island basket located in middle of parking lot. Possible O.B. line separating fairway 15 from fairway 1.

Ryan and I will be at Leverich this Saturday at 9 a.m. if anyone wants to find us and make suggestions.

Could you please designated the new planting area along the creek as O.B. as well? Hopefully this will discourage people from going in there.

I don't know if I will be able to make it or not but having 18 holes would improve ratings and make the scores count towards hottest rounds ever etc. Besides more golf is always good

Will you guys be bringing in rubber tee pads? Some of the natural tees are in really, really, really......really bad shape. I doubt they will get any better until we get an extended dry stretch of weather.

I guess if we are getting string to outline OB areas, this will be easy. That makes Tournament Hole #6 very challenging.

I just don't see how to squeeze in 18 holes without either some major brush clearing or making the existing holes a lot shorter. I would rather play 15 holes around 250'-300' than 18 where most of the holes are around 200'.

My plan has been to get out there and spread the remaining gravel on the tee pads that need it the most. There are some other cleanup projects that also need to be done prior to the tournament so I'm hoping we can schedule a Stumptown work party on February 14th from 9 to noon.

If there are specific holes that we need to put down pads, then we will try to get a few pads out there, but I think with a new layer of gravel we will be fine.

I have had 2 major back injuries before, close to a year of physical therapy for those 2, so my back was already in bad shape. I was moving a box that didnt really weigh much, maybe 25 lbs or so? not sure. I just lifted it wrong I guess. It didnt hurt that much when it happened, just felt the muscles pull. when I woke up this morning, I coulnt bend, twist, or lift anything without excruciating pain. I will go to the doc on Monday if it still hurts. Possibly get my 2nd workers comp claim in less than a year.

February 14th, 2009, 11:45 PM
I am not a tall guy, and i got fairly long arms, but I cant even touch my knees without it hurting. I think that if I go to the doc and get some good pain pills and some muscle relaxers, I might be good to go. I played my 2nd round at the WOX with an ankle I could barely walk on, so I can tough it out. That ended up being a spider bite, still got a dime sized scar from that :)

snap7times
February 15th, 2009, 12:09 AM
dude, as a guy who specializes in the human anatomy, an ankle is a heck lot different than your back. An ankle limits you in walking, a back limits you in just about everything. I would definitely get a doctor to look at that before deciding what the extent of the injury is. If it is actual torn muscles, that is a long road to recovery, maybe surgery. But i hope for just strained muscles or pulled..

Trozzle!!!
February 15th, 2009, 12:20 AM
I am going to see how it feels on MOnday. if it still hurts, i will consult a doc. But, I have a good feeling its just a strain or pull. still gonna see a doc so I can get some muscle relaxers at least.

I just wanted to make an announcement that 2009 Stumptown Bag Tags will be available for $10 at the tournament. This will be the first bag tag match of 2009. To be included in the match please pay for your tag during check in. I'll also be selling tags after the second round.

I want to thank Kel Carver for his hard work in getting these tags completed. Kel did most of the prep work and did a great job on this years design. This year's tag is double sided and has a changing color scheme depending on the number you hold. You should be able to judge the approximate number of a tag from a distance.

Dustin, YOU da man! :bowing: And to Kel...... I'll have Stumptown Swag for sale at the event also and can sell Tags and Memberships on the spot.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there.

Looking at the map I have a question.... The new teepad for hole 4. Is the teepad under the overpass or are we shooting from on the bridge?

You will be teeing from under the overpass. Off the top would be fun, but I'm pretty sure we could get in serious trouble for that. Also, it would slow down play considerably.

The waitlist has 7 people on it right now. Chances are slim at this point.

I didn't see player's meeting start time, but the website said 8:00 check-in and 9:00 start time. Also, it was indicated that lunch will be provided. Hopefully I read it right, or I moght have to stop for food too.

Thanks to all that came out today for the first SW Washington PDGA sanctioned event! Thanks to the volunteers, Ryan, Brian Heath, Brian Yoho, Bob Cabal, and the crew from Compass Church that made lunch for everyone. The onions where awesome on my burger!

Special thanks also to the course sponsors, Next Adventure, Les Schwab Hazel Dell, The Robinsons, Compass Church, Bad Monkey Bikes, and Corwin Beverages & Pepsi.

The parks department was very impressed with the group of people that were there and are excited to see more tournaments at Leverich and other parks in Vancouver (once we get courses there too!)

Thanks Mat, but Steve Carson actually did most of the work!

Thanks Steve, Brian, Brian, Bob, and everyone else that helped or played, this was a fun event.

Oh, and sorry to everyone for the mishap with scrip certificates, I had a brain fart on that one!

Any chance we could throw these scores out and not report them to the PDGA for ratings? Look at em'. They are crazier than a 12 toe'd hillbilly!

Oh, and Crider, don't worry about it. Romito hit me with a roller too and all he did was point out what a big throw it was. I say you are the classier guy there. And geeze that's compared to Romito. Just messin with you Justin. No worries Dawg.

Way to go Trozzle and Keys. That was some radical golf today brothers! I guess that means a big move up for you two.

Isn't 998 your highest rated round as well?

So you shot your lowest rated round, and your highest rated round in the same two round tournament!

I think I'll make you an award or something for that, maybe the "Schizo Golfer", or "Dr. Matyl and Mr. Cryde" award or something, with a gun in one hand and a flower in the other??

Whatevs, there's a dollar sign next to your name, so you did well (even if Keys beat you!)
