View Full Version : Only 1 in a division?

I was looking at the results from last years Chump Challenge and I noticed a couple of divisions only had 1 player. My question is, who does that 1 person play with? It doesn't seem fair to me to put a player with others in a different division. For example, there was 1 girl in the <16, and 1 boy in the
<13, but he shot nearly 100 throws better than she did. I think it would be discouraging for her to be paired with him. Just wondering is all...

I think this is up to the discresssion of the TD. If I were the TD in this situation I would put her with next lowest rated womans divison offerd (ie Rec)(see http://www.pdga.com/rules/1-6-grouping-and-sectioning). So as long as the Jr is qulified to play in said division then its all good(see http://www.pdga.com/rules/2-1-general).

... being paired with someone a ton better than you is not discouraging... so long as you are not actually competing against that person... especially for gals... we be used to playing with guys what can throw tons further than us anyway... it's the nonsense of having to compete against someone who's out of your league... i don't know how all this stuff actually works or will play out, but i do know that due to the smallness of my field it may affect me some day... frankly i do not want to ever have to play against men... even if i could hold my own with them... but dangit i will if i have to i s'pose...

I didn’t mean that those people would be competing with that division just throwing with that division. Of course, when you have people like the two current AM world champs both eligible for Jr divisions it throws a wrench in the whole thing. It all comes down to TD discretion on how they want to do the single player divisions.

Then you better not join Team Golf.
Really, Emma? I am very saddened to hear that; I was really looking forward to playing with you.
I do not understand at all. I LOVE playing with women! Not because of any competition, but because they are fun to be with!
Maybe you should try my handicap league sometime - the handicap puts all players on an equal level, men, women, young, old, newbies, and veterans! Oh, I forgot, you hate Lunchtime, too. I guess our chances of playing together are even slimmer than I thought....
Anyway, see you on the links (from a distance, I guess... :( )
PS: Was that passive-aggressive enough for you all?

oh, how you misunderstand me... i don't want to have to compete with them is all... and in a handicapped league like team golf is totally different...
... like how melo king plays against the intermediate men? for some reason i don't like that idea... i'm a girl... i want to compete against other girls, for crying in the bucket...
... sheesh, gawain, of course i don't mind playing with boys... if i did i wouldn't play much golf, now would i?
... sorry, still can't stand lunchtime...
peace and LOVE,
emmarose
p.s. silly gawain

Emma, the funny part is how many men you can ALREADY beat (straight up, no handicap)!
PS: We had a nice PM exchange, and we understand each other better now.... :)
Looking SO forward to TDG...

I can't wait to match up with Emma in Team Golf. She will have to give me about 10 strokes. :biggrin2:That'll be the ONLY way I ever have a chance to beat her. :pirate:
