So I played for a summer a while back and have just gotten back into it.

Previously, I always had a hard time turning right. I can drive straight and too the left, to a max of about 280 feet or so. But turning right has been the greatest challenge so far. I have started just throwing forehand (I am right handed) for right turns but of course I struggle with range. However, I have much greater accuracy forehand than I do back hand (I got back to back birdies at Westmoreland on my second outing thanks to my forehand). My range is improving very quickly for my forehand shots since I was shown a much better grip.

Also, disc behavior is to me vague at best. For a stater, a disk thrown flat which turns right is over stable and and a disc which turns left in under?

I don't really know how to define my need any better than this as I have a very shallow knowledge of the sport and the physics of the sport!

I have been playing for about 3 weeks so far. Thanks!

Start here (http://www.discraft.com/vid/html/mediaplayer.html) this collection of videos will get you off on the right foot. I'm not saying the methods shown in these videos or the discs they use are the end all be all but, just a great place to gain a base understanding of the major disc golf concepts.

After you've watched a few and if you have more questions or would like some recommendations all you have to do is but ask. Lots of helpful (read opinionated) folks hanging out to help you on this site. :)

you can also look in this and the equipment section for more advice on this subject as i know it’s probably been discussed before. Those Discraft vids are good the innova (http://www.innova.com/)site has a good glossary of DG terms too.

...a disk thrown flat which turns right is over stable and and a disc which turns left i[s] under?

True, if you are speaking of RHFH. False, if you are referring to RHBH.

If you are having trouble turning your right-hand backhand to the right, find a lighter, beat in, driver. Understabilty will decrease as the upward angle of flight is increased, as it will with a tailwind, and will increase going downhill or into a headwind. Overstability will do the reverse.

A disc thrown RHBH will naturally fade the left. A disc thrown RHFH will naturally fade to the right.

A disc that goes straight with no fade is stable.

A disc thrown RHBH that fades hard to the left is considered over-stable.
A disc thrown RHBH that turns the right before fading left is considered under-stable.

This assumes that the disc is thown at full speed. Thrown at lower speeds, almost everything will appear to be over-stable.

If you are using drivers, try discing down a little: Leopard, Shark, TL, Cobra (to name a few) - all in lighter weights - would be a good place to start and might give you the turn you are looking for.

Sometimes "light" means 150, other times it just means sub-170.
