View Full Version : Doubles at Champoeg?

I was wondering if there are weekly doubles matches at Champoeg. I've looked around and haven't found anything, so why not get doubles going. This course could use new teepads and 3 more baskets, and this would be a perfect way to raise the money for it. I'm going to talk to the ranger on Friday to get the okay to do the concrete work, and see about adding holes. There are no close doubles matches for people living in the Wilsonville/Newberg area. Champoeg gets a lot of play, so I thought this would be a perfect place for it. I was thinking doubles on Monday or Friday around 5-6. Tell me what you think.

I don't live in the area but I would say Monday nights are better as Fridays are more of go out and have dinner, party, relax day and if there is a tournament on Saturday somewhere most people will not want to play that day. As far as for time the later the better and still have sunlight will alow most people to get there after work. I'm glad you're getting something going, way to take the bull by the horns.

Good luck. Champoeq has been notoriously anit-disc golf, although I understand that ranger is now gone.
As for doubles, you should pick Wed/Thursday. Monday's Lunchtime (pretty close to Champoeq) and Tuesday's Orchard (another small course).

Ok cool. Thanks for the input. I'll probably go for Tues/Wed first and see how the outcome is. I hope everything will go well with the ranger. Champoeg has so much room for growth and would be a great discgolf course.

I spoke with the Ranger a couple of months ago. They will NOT allow concrete pads as the course is and always has been a temp course. They will allow replacement of the rubber pads and 3 temp holes but not permanent.

So what exactly is considered a temp hole? I thought a basket sunk in the ground would be considereed permenent. What did he say about signs?

Portables baskets can be used. The land that the disc golf course is on could at any time be deemed a natural area and what is there pulled. I doubt signs will be allowed but who knows. Also just because the Ranger gave me this information doesn't mean that the next guy might get more. I'd like to see a fund raiser tournament out there to raise $$$$ to replace the rubber pads with new rubber pads and maybe bark chip walking paths to help with erosion.
