I'm thinking about signing up for this event, but I'm not sure what division. I'm not a PDGA member, so no rating. I've been playing for 1 year, and my best rounds are -3 on the Northstar and Wreckreator at Farragut (but I play that course 3 times a week). My average there is about +3 on either course, am teepads. I've played Highbridge a few times with my best score around a +5.:headbang: So I'm thinking MA3. Any input? Thanks!

50 views and no one had any thoughts? I should add that this would be my first singles tournament.

Thanks Silly. I actually had not thought of that.

With scores like that at Farragut, I'd say play Advanced. Maybe play Intermediate if you want to ensure a top 3 finish. But you would destroy the Recreational division, and probably not have much fun unless sandbagging is your thing.

Wreckreator is a much harder course than High Bridge.

Also, last year they added a bunch of temp holes, so even the locals will be thrown off their game.

Isn't High Bride all par 3's? The only reason (I think) that I play well at Farragut is that it's easier for me to birdie or eagle a par 4 or 5 than birdie a par 3. Guess I need to work on my short game more!

I think Hole 14 is a par 4, and some people probably consider Hole 3 a par 4.

Any idea what the course par will be for the Chump Challenge?

If its the same format as last year, then it will be 27 holes. 27 x 3 = Par 81.

It looks like you chose the right division by playing Rec.

Since you said you've shot a -3 on both the North Star and Wreckreator, then I'm guessing that you aren't using all par 3s? I knew Wreckreator has an Am par posted on the signs, but I can't remember if North Star does.

How many total strokes are those -3 scores?

You're right, at Farragut I play the Am pars. The Am par for the Wreck is 66, 61 on Northstar. My PB is 63 and 58 respectively.

Ah. Strokes are a lot easier to keep track of than some arbitrary par, especially since two different pars are posted for each hole.

Either way, its cool to see more (semi)locals doing tournaments. Keep playing, get better!
