Who wants to play Oregon Team Disc Golf 2010-11?

I've been threatening to get this thread going for months now, so here it is!:biggrin2:

I think that waiting until it is nearly October may have worked for the slacker version of Team Disc Golf in the past, but now that we have expanded the format to 2 days and with possible increased interest for TDG for next year, I think we should get these things worked out earlier this year. The OTDG Schedule has been out there for a few months already on the mystical calendar that I hear so much about on this forum! (Thanks G!:cheers:) But for planning purposes I will post it here. (We will have another thread to discuss what park we play what date, as that seems to be a big contention each year.)

Please tell us that you've got a cut & dried method for deciding who gets priority for playing on Sunday. Last year was kind of a debacle (or at least semi-contentious)...:(

If it comes down to Seniority, how is that being calculated? I know a sunday team last year claimed they had seniority over us, and I know a couple other Sunday teams didnt have"seniority" over our team. Isnt is base on the total number of years that each team member has played TDG? I think last year the 3 teams I am mentioning had 1 yr for each player playing. my team had 4 newbs, but 3 of us had played 2-3 years each of TDG experience.

I am not making a bid to be a Sunday team unless we got an invite. I plan on us playing Sats again this year. But if we somehow get a player I am considering, thats another 3-4 yrs TDG exp for them to add to our total

Eastside Crushers will only play Saturdays because on Sundays we pray to the NFL. I say you take one day all the teams that want to play Sunday and have a playoff plus I thought the bottom drewlers from last year playoffs had to move to sundays.

I just ask one thing Jordan no matter what please keep Jeff Hemmerling team on sundays I dont want to see him early Saturday mornings after his Friday night dress up partys. I heard it takes him all day Saturday to remove the make up off his face or he could call it his war paint for disc golf.:cheerleader:

I think the smack talk is pretty limited to those of us that dish it.... No reason for concern. Many of us have been playing for 5+ years and have built some great rivalries. In terms of friendly, family fun, you can't beat TDG. There were several years teams met for breakfast before their match - great way to meet some of the nicest people in golf, seriously. And yes, Trozzle is like that b*st*rd little brother, but still family. :)

Oregon Team Disc Golf is pretty unique. I have yet to find another completely free series of disc golf events, anywhere. And since we don't play for money or prizes some of us have a little fun with talkin' smack.:nahnah:

It's the motivation to get out and keep playing during the winter months so your game doesn't revert back to what it was before you got better playing during the summer.:trophy:

Sure we've had our share of drama and last year's split of the league into 2 days was a sticking point for much of it. And in the end when I offered the chance to move their team to Sunday to the top two Saturday teams, they both declined and chose to stay on Saturday. I didn't see much difference between the two days the few times I was able to do both days last year. Mostly it was a smack talk issue about the Saturday league being the minor leagues and dumb stuff like that.:kissflowers:

But this is a handicapped league, so we get players from the full spectrum of golf ratings..from below 800 to players rated over 1000...and many times they play each other. And either player can win on any given week due to the handicap. It can also be a good place to learn the tournament rules and pick up tips on your game from those players too.:rockon:

But I am most proud of the number of women golfers we have in this league.:bowing:

So if you are reading this and wondering if Oregon Team Disc Golf is for you, you need to ask yourself: Can I commit to playing these dates (or at least most)? This is the #1 criteria for most OTDG captains. There are built in incentives that you can earn by fielding the whole team each week.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions and I'll try to get updated rules posted on the site this weekend so it will be easier for new players to get an idea of what Oregon Team Disc golf is all about.

Great Question! I will be adding every round rating together and dividing by the total number of rated rounds so that the ratings changes will settle down as we head into the last half of the season. This should decrease the ratings volatility and get more accurate ratings for everybody. Also, it should limit the effectiveness of bagging your last rounds before the Championships and not punish those that play their arses off at the end of the season.:pirate:

But, I know its early and changes may happen, but what if a team is considering diff players? I have 1 or 2 changes to the roster I am considering if they fall through. If not we are sticking to the same roster. Is this ok, and is our team still considered "registered"?

if you'll review last years matches i only lost 3 matches i believe. 2 to some relentless females in regular season and one in the finals to jeff mittl. somehow we were matched straight up at milo on the bsf layout east side. went to school on that one. i have complete confidence in our new recruits crist and amber. crist possibly coming into the season off of an advanced oregon state championships win at trojan in september? Griplock isn't afraid of any matchup this season. just looking forward to some more than others for personal reasons.

Pretty sure he didn't call anyone. He just pointed out that two teams list the same member. He is not the captain of either team. Doesn't matter who posted first, there is still an issue. Looks like you need to hash this out with Will Odom (Ace Holes captain) and Jason Back.

Better get your facts right before calling out the league director. :mad: He's a very honest, hard-working, straight-shooting kind of guy. (I've got your back Jordan!)

I appreciate everything that he does for team golf and I will help him out in any way that I can (minus giving him back) BUT, most of you don't know the facts of the situation(Jeff)...I was told by Back that there was a phone call placed to him or one of his friends last weekend that requested the he be on Jordan's team. Now what's the point of posting rosters if people are going to cherry pick people off of other teams? I don't need to hash anything out either....Jason is on my team.

What is this, kindergarten, or As The World Turns? Let's deal just with facts shall we? Unless and until the unidentified person comes forward, let's just assume the whole thing was gossip, otherwise known as bullshit, shall we? No one on my team, especially Jordan, is trying to "cherry pick" anything. On the contrary, WE are the team that is all about everyone getting to participate and have a good time! We have been of that mindset for many years. We prefer to stay above the squabbling and drama that has begun to creep into the league of late...

Team Golf is one the funnest (and sometimes funniest) things I've ever been involved in. I DO have to say though that it may be my last year if the same belly aching, back stabbing, bitching that has begun last season and carrying over to this one continues. It's really not worth the drama. :cop:

As a long time team golf spectator, I have to agree with Bob, the drama has increased ten fold since additional teams were allowed in. I'm just glad I have a spot on one of the cool teams :)
