And now here is where the cheese binds. We need and even number of teams for Oregon Team Disc Golf. We are now at 18, which would allow us to have an 8 team Saturday conference and a 10 team Sunday conference. So we now need 2 more Saturday teams to increase the league to 20 teams. We currently have 5/7 of a team, so there are only 9 places left to fill the league to capacity.

I totally understand Steve, but most of the Sunday teams have been playing TDG for many years and they have their rosters set at this time.

However, the rules this year allow for each team to pick 1 replacement player during the season. I would encourage any Sunday team looking for a replacement player to give Steve a shot.:cheers:

This was my team striker! I had to give him up because all of my efforts to bribe Jman to get team Grip Lok moved onto Sundays failed. I would say that if one of you Sunday teams picks him up you will have a solid player on your roster. I for one would like to see Steve playing TDG in the 2010-2011 season.

The hard thing is, that while we have room for 2 more Saturday teams, we need 2 more teams for Saturday and not just one team. Because nobody wants to have a BYE week on Saturday right? So as it stands right now, we need 14 more players to take the Saturday conference up to 10 teams total. Otherwise we will go with 10 Sunday teams and 8 Saturday teams and the bottom 2 Sunday teams will battle it our for the right to stay playing Sunday...:pirate:

I am trying to get the last two teams finalized for Oregon Team Disc Golf 2010-11. Trozzle just needs one more to fill out his team and Wes is forming the 20th team, but also needs one more player.

So we should start to think about having the Captain's Meeting some time very soon. We need a venue that will hold the 20 captains (and probably some hangers on) and last year's venue is unavailable to us. So if anyone can host this little get together, or has a good idea of a place we could go to get this done, that would help out a lot.

All we really need to hash out is the schedule and any rule tweaks that we want to implement for the next year. I do not anticipate it lasting very long this year.

I am struggling with the idea of remaining in team disc golf at all and am thinking that a move to a Saturday team might make me happier. In other words... how many times would I have to smell Vapor Trails if I move to a Saturday team?

Alright, so we have 139 out of 140 players! Wow. We are very close to getting this thing started.

We need to come up with a rating for all of your non-PDGA team members. This can be accomplished in many ways. We can look at ratings of any rounds that they have played in a PDGA tourney and come up with a rating. If they have no rated rounds ever played then it is necessary that they play at least one round during the Prelims out at Milo the first October weekend (9-10th). In fact, if they can play all 4 rounds (2 on Saturday & 2 on Sunday) then they can get a pretty accurate rating to start out with, but one round would be necessary to get a starting point for new, non-PDGA member players.

This as good a time & place as any to mention my thoughts on the first weekend of Oregon Team Disc Golf:

On Saturday October 9th and Sunday October 10th I will be handing out score cards for two rounds each day. Any and all OTDG players are encouraged to come on out and play any and all of the rounds that you wish to play that weekend. Each round that you play will generate a round rating that will count as one of your rounds for your OTDG rating this year. So your starting rating, whether it is your current PDGA rating or your final rating from OTDG last year, will be averaged with the round ratings that you shoot during the Prelims to set your rating for the first week of competition.

I will use the team total of the round ratings shot this weekend to set the divisional alignments for each league again this year, just like I did last year.

Out of curiosity... how often do Saturday teams play Sunday teams?

I am struggling with the idea of remaining in team disc golf at all and am thinking that a move to a Saturday team might make me happier. In other words... how many times would I have to smell Vapor Trails if I move to a Saturday team?

Other than the Prelims and the Finals there are no weeks where Saturday teams and Sunday teams play at the same time. This year is the first year that there will be the absolute most players that we can field in OTDG. So until I can be assured that this will work out, I don't want to add the complexity by adding cross-day match ups to the schedule. Maybe we can add that next year, if this year works.

That depends on if the Milo rangers remove the extra baskets that will be out there the weekend before for the Hab/Rec tourney...:whistler: We will be glad to deliver the extra baskets back to the ranger station after the final round on Sunday to save them some labor...

If they don't remove them, then we'll play both the East and the West BSF layouts, if they do then we'll have to play 18 of the regular 27 layout.

I am trying to get the last two teams finalized for Oregon Team Disc Golf 2010-11. Trozzle just needs one more to fill out his team and Wes is forming the 20th team, but also needs one more player.

So we should start to think about having the Captain's Meeting some time very soon. We need a venue that will hold the 20 captains (and probably some hangers on) and last year's venue is unavailable to us. So if anyone can host this little get together, or has a good idea of a place we could go to get this done, that would help out a lot.

All we really need to hash out is the schedule and any rule tweaks that we want to implement for the next year. I do not anticipate it lasting very long this year.
