OK, Here is how the spot will be determined..........
To qualify for the 2010 Oregon State Rep Spot to USDGC, you must meet the following criteria.
1. Have NEVER attended USDGC as a player
2. Be a registered PRO with the PDGA
3. Write a small statement stating WHY you should be the USDGC Rep and send it to me either thru a PM here or at norcalseries@aol.com
I know that there are alot of individuals who do not visit this site so I ask that EVERYONE spread the word.
I will make my decision prior to August 1st.

Technically I asked first under the PDGA catergory but I didn't ask for the spot though and think you would be an excellent choice if you haven't gone before... so submit that brown nosing letter to the guy who still has california in his email address ;)

I got to go last year... I think we should send Kirk... or Shane... or me even though I already got to go once. Oh, or one of the old guys (really old... not one of the young old guys who could actually qualify with their play) or a girl... that would be cool!

This is a big honor you guys... one of the only ways we have to reward players that do it right... If play was only 25% or 50% of the equation and you factor in Magilla's limits who should get this bid?

Well, I've always been under the impression that the spot should be given to the most qualified player. Also, it should be given to a player with the means and dedication to actually travel to this tournament. If you were to poll all the pro players in Oregon how many people could actually go to the US, I wonder how many would answer yes?
Players in my mind that I would choose if I were state coordinator...oh yeah, next year I might be :)
Coury Coates - Oregon's most professional player. Skilled, courteous, an ambassador of the game.
Kirk McAllister - Oregon's third most dedicated golfer. Don't believe me? After Nate (99) and myself (92) he has 91 rounds included in his player rating, the same amount as Feldberg. Kind of amazing considering the guy isn't doing this for a living.
Shane Waters - Dag gum, what else is there to say? The guy can throw far and putts well.
That'd be my top tree choices. I'd really like to see Colin, Brice, Skinnell and some others go and play in this event!
So far only Dave, Nate, Tim and myself are qualified? Oh and Mittl from running the BSF. Can't wait to see who Magilla picks!

In my opinion, the #1 most important thing is that you know that they can and will go, and a close #2 is that they have a chance to place well.
If those two things aren't taken into account, then there's not really a point in nominating someone to represent you.
Luckily, Oregon probably has a lot of players that fit that bill.

I agree ... mostly.:whistler:
To expand on your thoughts. The reason the USDGC Qualifier TD's get a spot is so that they can experience the way USDGC is run AND bring some of that back home.
IMO, there are dozens of players who "deserve" to go, but have little chance of qualifying at an event. This will be the 10th time that I have given this spot away and still to this day have never been myself. Some friends say that I should just take it myself and go. I dont feel that would be right. Not to mention that I dont have the $1000+ to spend on a week in Rock Hill OR the ability to take a week off of work during that time frame.
As always, Im quite sure that there will be those who do not agree with my pick. I can assure that who ever it is, will be a FINE representative of Oregon.
As of this morning, I have 3 individuals who have sent in requests. I will make my decision with in a month or so. This gives the individual plenty of time to start raising funds to make the trip, ie fundraising events, etc.
If you know someone who YOU think deserves this honor, then I would suggest that YOU tell them to submit something to me....SOON.
