As we revel in the excitement of the past weekends great Beaver State Fling NT lets not forget that we have the AM Super Tour on tap for this weekend. This is going to be another great Beaver State Fling event.

Check-in begins at 1:00 on Friday the 4th. 6:00 p.m. Dion Arlyn and other local touring pro's will be doing a demonstration and talking about what it takes to get to that next level. Bring your discs for a great hands on clinic. First round Saturday morning teeing off around 7:00 a.m. Lunch provided by Next Adventure.

After seeing the pros this last weekend and playing the courses a few time, I am ready to play.

so we have a choice of random doubles on the west course, random doubles mini on the mini course or a clinic with some pros on friday night. Ummm can I split myself up in 3 people and attend all 3? I dunno what to do! We will be there around noon. Played the east side today, super sweet, was +2 after 12 holes which is a PB for me but realized i can do it!!! See y'all friday... and if anyone wants to do some trades for new/used discs, just come over to me when I am at my campsite... I like anything 10-11x. I'll have about 30 discs with me including a stack of sparkle dga rouges and squalls for sale from the camp taloali fund raiser....

I just noticed Bob created this thread today.
May we also talk smack about who we may beat this weekend, or will this be restricted to BSF information and English 101 lessons from Professor Hemmerling?
In case smack talk is allowed...
I'm looking at the mega-MM1 field from a ratings standpoint. Mine falls right in the middle. Any finish above that means I whooped a "better" player. Some of you are going down! I've already beat the highest rated entry the last time we played Milo, so I know I'll eventually beat the rest. Think about it. This could be the weekend I play my three best rounds at Milo ever! But, don't think about it now.... wait until we tee off.

I thought if you asked about tee times you had to play with Sam the first round?
If I don't ask can I not play with him that round. He should have to earn that privilege.

Wes, all you have to do is play better than everyone in your field and you will have a later tee time. Sam will be too tired after last weekend playing with the big boys and most likely be in the bottom of the field so you won't even see him this weekend. (did I mention first round last weekend Sam got out played by a little 19 yr. old girl?)

scott and I will be at milo tourney central around noon and will check if our help is needed ok bob?! Now we have 6 Deaf players, the 6th was added into the grandmasters, yes!
Squalls and Rogues sell for MSRP $18. I'll be selling them at $15 because I need to sell them to come out on top for the fundraiser, am currently -$400ish *Lost an envelope full of cash sometime during the tournament that had around $300 in it, which I only have myself to blame* :(
I do have Tsuami's and Reefs left which are selling for $10 each.
The squalls are either clear or blue. Only have a few rogues left and they are clear, have one orange rogue with the TD stamp on it for 170g... Just seek me out... Thanks

News flash.... since we moved back to Oregon a few days ago, I been working around the clock cleaning and setting things up in the office in the garage, got around to my disc golf boxes from the camp taloali tournament... found the envelope with the money! It was among the scorecards that someone else had helped put away for me. What a huge relief, over $335 dollars whew, now I can give alot more to Camp Taloali and cover most of the losses, but still need to sell the discs to reach my own personal goal for fundraising for the camp!
Also, anyone who has discs that would be good for kids to throw at summer camp and you absolutely don't want them and cannot sell or trade them, donate them to camp taloali and we will formally recognize every single donor! Give them to me this weekend and I'll hand them in to camp taloali this week! Thanks everyone...

Yes yes I know but its all based on math, and your player rating and pdga number. If you have a middle of the pack player rating you might have ended up with an earlier tee time.

Hey look at it this way, if you play well in the first round you will have a later tee time in the afternoon and can sneak in a nap or something. If you play poorly you will at least have time to relax and gain your composure. With a 9 am tee time and a crap round the turn around on your next round will be quick and you may not have the time to collect some composure. But lets not think about that lets think about sunny days and fun rounds with friends.

If you are not familiar with how Tee Times work, check Mike's link above, find your name/tee time/starting hole. If you have ANY doubts come to Tournament Central 45 minutes to an hour before you are suppose to tee off. Be at your starting hole at least 20 minutes prior to your teeing off time. Check in with the Starter at your hole assignment. (under the pop up tent) The Starter will call 2 minutes, shake hands, bump knuckles, wish each other a good round. The Starter will call your name when it is time for you to Tee Off. Have fun, this is YOUR weekend! Best of luck to all of the players this weekend. I'm not even playing and I'm excited already.

The schedule indicates you're sending 10 groups out from each start hole.
Isn't that going to cause backups on each start hole as the 7:30am group

All teepads are the same as the pro weekend. See other posts about 11 East

Jeff, the ten minute time is strickly enforced on the am weekends, we all need to be diligent on the lost disc time clock as well as the tee when the next group has thrown their second shots on the big holes. Especially hole 14 east, when the group in front throws their second shot and have made it past the amateur pad on that hole then its time to waive the next group on. There is no reason on holes 1 West, 10 West, and 11 East that most divisions can not throw after the group in front of them has thrown their second shots, exceptions obviously to some MA1 and MM1 players!

Oh yes and everyone will be playing from the Pro Pad on 16 East Boohyah!!!

Perhaps I have my terminology backwards? I see that hole as having a wide open fairway straight ahead, but you want to end up a little left so you can make the dogleg to the right, towards the river. No?

No?Looks like my terminology is backwards. I always thought the direction of the dogleg referred to the side of the fairway with the preferred route, not the obstacle to be avoided. Neither of those is correct. It refers to the direction the fairway turns (as y'all said):
If the hole turns to the left, it is called a "dogleg left." If it turns to the right, it is called a "dogleg right." (http://golf.about.com/cs/golfterm/g/bldef_dogleg.htm (http://golf.about.com/cs/golfterms/g/bldef_dogleg.htm))Thanks for the correction.

We have a drop in the B pool and these guys are on deck, all are from out of state so if you are on the B-Pool wait list you might want to pack up the car and head to Milo McIver!

If you know any of these gentlemen and can get in contact with them right away let me know!

Lawrence Adams 24162 ---> in the event
Frank Robinson 12291 ---> can't Make it
Allen Risley 1752 ---> can't make it
Mike Buchanan 34846 ---> lives in Ohio probably won't be making it
Dan Garland 4539 ---> No word yet lives in Utah!

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone would be available on Friday around 10am to help set up tournament central and also to help set up the course with tee signs and distant stakes.
Other miscellaneous items in order to be ready for Saturday morning.

Please RSVP if you can make it!
All help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

HELP

Friday morning I will be at Tournament Central starting set up. We need to erect the big tent again and I could use some help. It takes several people to get the top put together then about 8 people to lift it up and get the legs in place. If you can I would appreciate a half hour of your time to get this up and ready for check-in. :bowing:

Thanks,
Bob

The Mini Crew will be happy to assist, that's 4 persons right there: Gawain S, David Z, Jordan L, and Chris G!

We can help with the tent, but we will be too busy installing the mini course to do tee signs or distance stakes, sorry. Who else is going to step up? I am sure some good folks will.

Ok, which tree is the dogleg on hole 11 east? Cuz Nikko's 2nd shot was way long and he parked the 3rd shot to get a par 4. Is this tree the one left of the basket about 100 feet or so? Just want to be sure so my first hole of the tournament isn't the cause of a misunderstanding and blow up. And hole 16 East teepad is evil but I love the challenge. The new teepad location on hole 8 east is awesome. Will test out the west course friday afternoon...
yeah camping be paid at sign in at tourney central, $6 a night... will there be wake up service? hehe...

It sounds as if you are confusing the terms "dogleg" and "mando". The fairway makes a natural dogleg to the right. There is no mando - you can go straight at the basket if you so desire.

Nathan, a dog leg is NOT a mando. A dog leg is not a tree. A dog leg refers to a fairway that curves, or more specifically, has a corner in it, like the shape of a dog's leg. A hole that is a dog leg has a fairway with a dog leg in it.

If you need to turn right while traveling down the fairway to the hole, it is called a dog leg right, and vice versa.

I hope I have explained this clearly for everyone. Also, it still sounds like not everyone is thinking of the same hole, please check your course maps, remember we are talking BSF hole numbering, which is basically not used the rest of the year (except M3PO and Hab Rec).

Whoops to many on the copy and paste, yes he is in but so far no replies on the others. Locals that want to play in the B pool might want to show up at tourney central check-in on Friday to see about the one remaining spot

The chances of getting in on the A pool side would come down to a game time decision. If someone does not show up for their tee time but has not checked in on Friday it can be a problem. If they show up late to their tee time then there will be a 5some if we try to sneak someone into the spot. The only way to get into the A pool will be to show up at tourney central during check in on Friday and notify us that you are in the area and willing to play, then if someone calls to say they can not make it we will work down the wait list in the order received. Existing wait list is King even at the event, however if you are not present on site with cash we will go to the next player that is on site and has cash.

I hope that helps!

Bah, yes I was confused because there is not just one fairway on that hole and everyone does not go the same way so doglegs are all over the place heh... anyways, i know which route i'm taking... thanks for the clarifications. Now are there any mandos? heh.

I'll be doing trades with anyone who stops by our tent city area ;) I am going to add a 2xl huklab maroon drifit shirt with the 2009 oddgc stamp on the back with the bird on the front. This baby is sweet and sold out so fast we had to reorder. This is the last available shirt and I'm selling it for $20 since the person I have been holding it for a year for has not continued their interest in buying the shirt.

Doubles in Oregon tends to be $5...

Wes bitches about early tee times, and gets a 9:00 AM tee time. I don't say anything, and I get a 7:30 AM tee time.

Please don't feed the bears. Next time Wes bitches about tee times, please give HIM the earliest tee time, and let ME sleep in!

(PS: I know that tee times are not based on who bitches most, and I am not complaining, I just wish he would have ended up with a 7:30 tee time after smarting off on the forum about it.)

Gawain- Bummer eh? Around 7:30 I should be finishing up my omelet! Then maybe I'll have another cup of coffee and enjoy the paper.

On the other hand, I do have to play with Sam!

Congrats Zaq, couldn't happen to a nicer guy, great victory!

Hey everyone,

Man it was nice to get a good nights sleep last night. I feel much better.

Milo is a true testament to disc golf ability in my opinion, sure there are some long drives but the real challenge is the long approaches. Most holes you can not park from the tee and it is what you do on your approach shot that will determine your score on the hole. Milo levels the playing field in a lot of areas. Now if we go and throw some weather into the mix we start to test the mettle of not only the physical game but the mental game and our champions have shown their strengths.

Congratulations to the 2010 Beaver State Fling Champions:

Emma Rose Hanley FW1
Sam Gibson MM1
Cindy McMahan FM1

Thanks to the event staff for putting on, yet again, an awesome event! Being on the lead card after the first round and having the live scoring done was definitely a big surprise, I follow it religiously when there is an NT event and to be on the other end where people could watch me perform (although not well) was mindblowing to me. Congrats to all of the winners. Zaq--I will see YOU at the PINE JAM!

such a great experience for me this weekend!!!

many thanks (too many, really) to mr. mittl and mr. mike phillips... the care you guys put into organizing this event was exceptional and the attention to the ladies was above and beyond what i was expecting... live scoring, sooooo cool!

thanks to everyone who was there this weekend making it the event that it was... all the volunteers, spectators and competitors... and most especially to all the amazing girls i got to golf with... especially T Mack and her enormous arm! holy moses, that girl can freaking throw!!! and i will never forgive myself for the confusion i caused her in the second round when she politely asked if she could have a cigarette and somehow she misunderstood me and thought i said no and she went nearly the whole round without smoking.... aaaaagh!!! i feel like such a jerk about that, still... thank goodness we got it cleared up before the final round...

... already can't wait 'til next year!!!

I kept up on the scores and through texts(secretly kept from the nurses trying to take my phone) from some friends so I was there in spirit. I almost came up on Sunday after I broke out of the hospital but it was sunny in Dexter and I heard it was pouring in Estacada:) Just sayin........

Congrats to all the winners and everyone who was part of the BSF. Job well done. Kudos to the volunteers that came out and spent hours to make it run smoothly.

Gave away lots of NA t-shirts & stickers, and also talked to a lot of ladies about the Chick Flick. I also got to watch the final hole of both the ladies and mens open divsions. The raffle was awesome Rebecca did an amazing job with that. What an awesome event

Thanks to my caddy Shawn on Sunday she was awesome :kissflowers: Had a great time playing with the advanced masters ladies you guys rock. I am very honored to be BSF advanced masters women champion for the 2nd year in a row. :trophy: The trophies are so awesome Mike did an amazing job with the zuglas, and Andrew rocked out the base.

I would like to thank Jeff, Mike, Bob, and all the volunteers for putting on an amazing two weekends. :bowing: Also a HUGE thanks goes out to Bryan and the Next Adventure crew who worked their butts off for two weekends in a row cooking up lunch Saturday & Sunday of both events plus dinner on Saturday of both weekends. Bryan also did an amazing job with the raffle on the am weekend, and Flight Team members Ryan & Celeste rocked the ring of fire.
