While I was out at Yauger Park yesterday I noticed there was (NEW) Public Notice signs stating the reconstruction of Yauger Park. There was also some heavy machinery and a lot of marked and staked area. Can anyone shed some light on this? Gilbey?
When does the work begin?
How long till the work is done?
Which Holes will be affected?
Is there a plan to add more Holes in lieu of missing Holes?
What happens to Wednesday Night Doubles?
What happens to the concrete tee boxes on the construction site?
Are there plans for Softball/Baseball/Soccer to be played there?
After the work is done, will Disc Golf be a part of their "Masterplan" for the reconstructed area?
Thanks for easing my curious mind.

howdy, i will do my best to answer these questions. im sure chris will be able to answer ones that i cant.
the construction people have started to put up a temporary fence already and have started doing some prelimenary work.
The work will be going on all summer and most likely into the fall.
With the construction, holes #13,14,15,16,17 are not playable and #12 is just barely playable due to their fence.
we have been working on a couple holes in the woods behind the "dirt works" garden area, but we wont have a full 18 hole course while this construction is being done.
we are still haveing wednesday doubles just like always, we will be putting together a layout for doubles play.
the concrete tee pads on hole #13 and #16 are the only ones that should be affected with the work, and when we put them in we knew that we would be losing them if the city actually went through with this project.
For the other sports, im sure they will still be played there, but i have heard that most of the softball leagues are going to be played in lacey.
Disc golf is for sure part of their master plan. Chris and I met with some of the city people and the designers of the new layout so that the new design will be including disc golf. They wanted to make sure to keep disc golf in this part of the park, we had worked up a resonable design with them that will hopefully work out well with their new design for that end of the park.
One thing is for sure, it is going to be VERY VERY different on that end of the park!! i am looking forward to seeing the work progress throught this summer.

The project at Yauger is designed to enable the park to handle more run off from the developing west side. They will be digging down the South/East parking lot up to 5' deeper. The plans show for a series of overflow retention ponds. The work will be done in a couple of phases and continue until October (or until the rains come). Like Orion said, we worked with the designers of the project to include disc golf. Everything looked really good on paper and when we did our walk throughs. In any event it will be exciting to see how it all pans out, there could be ALOT more water to contend with at Yauger! We remain optimistic about the outcome.

The pond is all drained, Team Oly was on hand to retrieve almost 70 disc's out of the muck. If you have anything lost in the "Big 5" pond, we might have it for you. Phone calls will be made, and the plastic can be picked up from Package Express.
Baskets 12-18 have been pulled. A "limited" course will still be in play. We are working on adding a couple of temp holes, but that decision will be made by the parks dept.
