View Full Version : It's Offical: "Soggy Saturdays" @ Orchard Park are BACK! (1/3 - 2/28)

I just got confirmation today, from HPRD, to host "this" years "Soggy Saturdays" at Orchard Park, starting Saturday January 3rd 2009. :yay::yay:

It is my plan to have this tournament run each Saturday in January and Febuary (Excluding February 14th, being Valentines day and all) :kissflowers:
(Jan. 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st & Feb. 7th, 21st, and 28th)

As of this moment I am currently making this a "Random Draw" Doubles format.
However, I may change the format to "Singles" (on any given Saturday) depending on the amount, and/or skill level of the players that show up.
(Probably with anything less than 8 players/4 teams)

"Soggy Saturdays"
$5 buy-in: $4 to payout, $1 "rolling" acepot
Sign ups start @ 10:00 a.m.
Sign ups end @ 10:45 a.m.
Short players meeting @ 11:00 a.m.
Start @ approx. 11:15
Two rounds of 9 holes
End around 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

The final week (if no one hits the ace pot), whatever the amount in the ace pot, we will throw a CTP on Hole 1 with the two closest players winning the pot, split 80/20

It is my hope to have both new and established players come out and experiance the "greatness" that is Orchard Park and it's "Soggy Saturdays" :cheerleader:

If anyone has any questions, or notice any information I may have left out, please feel free to leave me a message here on nwdiscgolfnews or e-mail me at: icarusdiscs@gmail.com

Thanks again, and here's to seeing all of you out there!

I'm really happy to hear this.

Casual tourmaments such as these are perfect for drawing players to the sport, and introducing casual players to tournament play.

The only downside for me is that I'll be coaching basketball during these months, so it's highly unlikely that I'll be able to make any... :waaah:

But overall, I'm really happy to see someone take this on. :bowing:

If you are referring to Jan. 3rd, probably not me, I hope to be in Seattle on a DG road trip. If you are referring to Jan. 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st & Feb. 7th, 21st, and 28th, I imagine I will be at one ore more of them.

17 - enough for 8 groups and one Cali.

I bumped into several groups of casual players who said they might show up next week as well.

Weather was a perfect January day for golf - no rain, very little wind. Hole 2 fairway was about half as soggy as last year.

Scott and Barbra, thanks again for the hot chocolate.

They play "Cali" - No partner, they get one extra throw per hole. It is their choice to use it for the drive, upshot, or putt.
