The SOJ is starting its 5th year. It was originally created to raise money for the Riddle Education Center, a small charter school that Lee and I used to work at. This year we have decided to start raising money to fund Disc Golf activities for youth. This includes purchasing equipment, conducting clinics, and tounaments for youth. We are going to start a Disc Golf Club at our local Boys & Girls Club and hold at least one tournament this summer.
2010 SOJ Schedule
May 15th Coos Bay, OR Mingus & Simpson Parks
June 26th Canyonville, OR Lawson Bar (Fundraiser for REC)*:biggrin2:
July 24th Selma, OR Lake Selmac
August 21st Cresent City, CA Beachfront Park
September 18th Cottage Grove, OR
Oct 8, 9, 10 Glide, OR Whistlers Bend DGC (Finals)
*All $$$ raised at Lawson Bar will be donated to the Riddle Education Center.*
Divisions & Fees:
Pro & Am (Bring your own Partner) $40/ team
Random Flip (No partner needed) $20 / player
There must be at least 4 teams to make a division. If not teams will bump up or everyone will play random flip. (This will be decided the day of event.)
If there are enough teams for other divsions we will add them. Such as: Masters & Mixed Doubles.
Pay Out:
We'll pay the top 1/3 in each division, cash for pros and script** for Ams & Random Flip.
**Lee and I are working on getting script vendors. If you are interested please contact us via this forum or send us a PM. If we can't get script vendors in time for Coos Bay everyone will play for cash.**
The breakdown is as follows:
Pro & AM = $40/team
$20 to pay out top 1/3
$1 Ace pot
$9 Finals
$10 to the "Good Deed" (raising $$$ for youth Disc Golf Activities)
Pros win Cash Ams win Script.
Random Flip = $20

Format:
First round will be Best Shot with each player using a minimum of 4 drives.
Second round will be a mystery round of one the following:
Alternating shot & tee: Each player takes turns throwing. One player drives then the next throws from that spot. Players alternate shots until the hole is complete. Players also alternate who tees off.
Switch Shot (Best Score): Each player throws as in best shot, but then they switch and throw from where they'er partner's disc landed. Players keep switching shots until the hole is completed. The team keeps the lowest score from the two players each hole.
Best Disc (Best Score): Each player plays each hole as a single. The team keeps the lowest score between it's two players for each hole.
Best Shot Random Flip or Draw with in divisions.
Event Day Schedule:
8:30 - 9:30 am Sign Ups
9:30 am Players Meeting & FlipOut
10:00 am 1st round starts
2nd round players meeting will begin 1 hour after the end of round 1.
So find a partner (or not) and make plans to become part of the 5 Annual State of Jefferson FlipOut League. It's a ton of fun and for a good cause. Our goal is to help grow the sport of Disc Golf and we couldn't think of a better way to so than providing funds to get the youth playing. Lee and I hope to see you all there.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in this forum or PM me or Mr. Lee.

Al, I think we will be the only ones there.
All the local guys here in Coos Bay know about it already.
Slight change of plans though. Because of the amount of Rec Golfers at Simpson Park in North Bend we need to start at that course and not at mingus. WE WILL BE STARTING ROUND 1 AT NORTH BEND, and the ROUND 2 will be at MINGUS, just like last year.
Thanks guys,
Hope to see a few out of towners travel to this.

Thanks for the heads up Scotty. I'll get a message out on all the sites we have info on. You'll at least see Lee and I. Maybe a couple from Cottage Grove & Eugene. Not sure about Roseburg though.

Lee and I have decided to partner up for this event. We finalized our team name last night.
Founding Flippin' Folfers :yay:
or
Founding Folfers (for short) :dancing:
We only hope that there'll be at least 3 more teams from the Bay that want to challenge us for in the Pro Division. We mean on the course and with creative team names. Let's get some creative and appropriate team names going. Remember this is a family friendly event. :jumpspin:

Well Al, Zaq and I talked while playing this morning and if there is 2 other pro teams that decide they want to partner together than we will join you to make a four team group. If not we are going to random flip. Most people in Coos Bay think its a random flip tournament so we are going to have to play it by ear a little bit in the morning. I will be there about 8:45, with sign ups starting at 9:00. I advertised tee at 10:00.
Lookin forward to it. Bring your bugspray....

Lee and I are prepared for an all random flip if we need to. We will also discuss it in the morning players meeting if needed. Thank you for the leg work you and Zaq have done. No matter what we'll have fun.

Hey Al,
Just wondering....is this really a three day tourney? How many total rounds?
Finish time? Wife needs details...or it's a no go. Know what I'm saying?
Would love to make it down.
