View Full Version : Tuesday Twos: 2010 Tuesday Twos - April 20th - August 24th 2010
Scott
April 7th, 2010, 11:13 AM
The 2010 Tuesday Twos season is less than two weeks away!
When: Tuesday evenings, April 20th - August 24th 2010. Signups from 5:30-5:50. Start time ~6:00.
Where: Orchard Park, Hillsboro, OR
Cost: $5.00 - $4.00 to payout and $1.00 to ace pot. I'm toying with the idea of taking $10.00 from each weeks overall payout and applying that to the series finals (top 12). I'd love to hear feedback on this.
Sponsors: TBD. Interested?
Weekly results and season standings will be posted here (http://www.tuesdaytwos.blogspot.com/).
Tuesday Twos is also located on Facebook.
My goal for this season is to pick up right where Ken has left off and to make Tuesday Twos the best weekly series around. I'm open to suggestions about how to make our series even better.
Thanks to everyone for your support.

I say keep it one big pool. I think one big pool will make registration easier, and you won't hear complaints from those that feel they were "wrongly upgraded" to the A pool. I think part of the fun is having it be totally random, and then beating some of the "ringer pairings".
Thanks again for stepping up to run it this year. I'm excited to get out there on Tuesday (rain or shine!).

It's really funny - I was expecting a lot of support for the A/B pool system, especially amongst players who would normally play in the B pool, but I've been asking around over the last few days and haven't found that to be the case.
With that in mind, and considering that the registration process will be much faster/smoother/easier with only one pool, that's exactly what we will do. At least for week one.
There are a couple other changes that will be enacted this year.
1) $10.00 will be kept out of each weeks payout and be saved for the finals. $10.00 x 18 weeks means there will be a pot of at least $180 to play for in the final week. The weekly payout and ace pot will be slightly smaller, but not too noticeable.
2) The playoffs will be expanded to include roughly 10% of the total field for the season, with a minimum of 12 players. If 160 unique players play at least one event, there will be 16 players eligible for the playoffs the final week. The only catch - you must play at least 10 weeks to make the playoffs. Last year we had 190 unique players. I'd love to see at least 200 this year, which would expand the playoffs to the to 20.
3) In what is believed to be a one-of-a-kind sponsorship, I've secured a unique deal with the National Weather Service to assure that there will be absolutely no wind at Orchard Park on Tuesday evenings between now and August 24th. You read that right - absolutely calm skies*. Come on out and let 'em fly.
* This claim is totally bogus. But you probably already guessed that. Besides, wind is one of the crazy things that makes Tuesday Twos so special.

I have about 7 Nalgene bottles I've been told need to be purged from my house. Most have been lightly used, have a disc golf tourney stamp on them, and may or may not be made from plastic that may of may not be bad for you.
I was gonna donate them as CTPs, but was told that people probably don't want to win them. What do you all think? CTPs? or does anyone that attends Tues 2s want one? Speak up soon, or I'm taking them to Good Will next week.

What an exciting night! We had great weather, an ace (Jet on hole 4, her first throw of the night), a bounty (random ace, hole 4), and a near bounty (Jeff Larson and Darin McCoy shot a smokin' hot -17 to narrowly miss the Next Adventure perfect score bounty).
Scores and standings can be found at Disc Golf Scene (http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/Tuesday_Twos_2010/leaderboards).

I really thought we we going to go -18... just overdrove on hole 9 and couldn't sink the 60ft putt.... perhaps next week. :) Thanks Scott for all your hard work.. fun to see the random ace get hit. Nice job Jet!

Thought I'd see if any TT players want to buy this...
I've got a double wide jogging stroller I'm looking to sell. It's great if you have kids that can't walk an entire round. Also good for holding a disc golf bag and one kid. Let me know of you are interested, I can provide more details on brand and so on. I'm asking for $50. I can bring it to Tues Twos...
Jeff
ps Scott... if it doesn't sell consider it a CTP prize...

After a stormy day, the rain stopped about five minutes before sign-ups and never came back. Mostly clear skies and no wind makes for some pretty low scores - Two -16s threw off for first, -14 grabbed last cash, and -10 was only good enough for last place. Nice shooting, everybody!
Congratulations to Matt Roller and Johnny Lamotte who edged out Jeff Larson and Eric Medley in the CTP throw-off to take first place and $43.00.
Karl Denfeld parked hole 8 with a Leopard to win a Champion Groove donated by Scott Hill.
Matt Gillispie hit a ~40' putt with a KC Pro Aviar on hole two to win a disc golf goody bag (BSF mug, assorted stickers, clip board, pencils, sharpie, and marker disc) donated by Scott Hill.
The shot of the night goes to James McMillan, who aced hole 5 to split the $26 ace potwith his partner. The random ace for tonight was hole 1.
The secret score was +3.

Another week with some really hot scores. For the second week in a row, we had a team go bounty hunting and come up just short with a -17 down. Congrats go to Chris Kuhlman and Andrew Nava on the great score and win.
We had two aces during warmups, but none during the round so $32 rolls over to next week. The random ace was hole 2. The secret score was +1.
Tim McDill parked hole 7 to win a Champion Beast donated by Matt Schroeder. Nate Silva canned the longest putt on hole 9 to win a DX Orc donated by Sean Fry.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, there was an issue with a 3 being circled as if it was a birdie. Once that was brought to our attention, we realized it was a -12, not a -13. I'll double check it tonight.
In fact, I'm planning on double checking all cards as well as the data entry before the finals so there might be some slight fluctuation in the standings.

I never actually saw the card (my mistake there) but I'm almost positive we only missed 5. hole 3 on the front 9 and 4,5,8 and 9 on the back 9.

35 players braved a very pleasant summer evening at Orchard Park this evening.
Brody Cannon aced hole 6 to claim the $65 ace pot as well as a DGA Aftershock donated by Rainy Day Games for the longest putt on that hole. Randy Hamilin parked his disc 2 inches away from the pole on hole 3 to win the Monty Python Flux card game also donated by Rainy Day Games. Kevin Brito won a DX Orc donated by Nate Silva by being closest to the pin on hole 4.
The secret score tonight was par, and the random ace was hole 3. Both were unclaimed again tonight.
Jeff Larson and Chris Kuhlman shot -15 and won a CTP playoff to win first place. Congratulations!
The top of the leaderboard is starting to get a little more crowded. Craig Falkowski maintains a lead, but the margin is now a little closer. Luis Nava is only four points back and Chris Kuhlman is tied with Sean Fry for third place at five points back. It's still anyone's game!

What a great summer evening for disc golf. A little windy, but that didn't stop Randy Hamlin and Will Odom from shooting a -16 to grab the win.
It was a big night for Will - he also took a CTP on hole one when he aced it with a Champion Spider. In addition to the $32 ace pot, Will took home a Fly-Dye Champion Starfire donated by Rainy Day Games. In other CTP action, first time Tuesday Two'r Jayre (JR) Parker won a Wizard Mini donated by Andrew Nava on hole 4. Dan Yahnke canned the longest putt on hole two to win a Fly-Dye Champion Eagle donated by Rainy Day Games.
The random ace hole for tonight was hole 3 (sorry Will). The secret score was -1 and was not hit.
Chris Kuhlman had a strong showing tonight and used his 14 points to jump to the top of the leaderboard with 132 points, edging out Luis Nava (130) and Sean Fry (129).

We had a great turnout tonight - 43, with six playing TT for the first time.
Sean Fry and Albert Ricker shot a -17 with an ace, coming just short of the course record and perfect round bounties.
Sean Fry grabbed the first ace of the night on hole 7. Ryan Prindle aced hole 4 a little while. They split the 41 ace pot with their partners. Sorry guys, the random ace for tonight was hole 9.
The secret score was +3 and was not hit.
Rainy Day Games provided two prizes tonight. Chris Kuhlman won a Fly Dye Champion Firebird on hole 5 (CTP) and Jason Liebenow took home a RDG stamped sparkle Rogue on hole 9 (long putt).

What an exciting night! A couple of teams took advantage of the calm winds and shot some really hot scores. Andrew Nava and Jason McGrew shot a hot -18 down to take first place, as well as the Next Adventure perfect score bounty. Andrew and Jason each took home a $50 gift certificate to Next Adventure.
Part of Andrew's perfect round was an ace on hole 1 with a Star Max that he bought that very afternoon at Rainy Day Games. Andrew and Jason also took home the ace pot of $39. The moral of the story? Go to Rainy Day Games, buy a disc, get an ace. It's that easy!
Sorry Andrew, the random ace of the night was hole 7. The secret score was +2.
Marko Kollias won the CTP on hole 7, taking home the game Monty Python Flux donated by Rainy Day Games.

Week 15 of Tuesday Twos is officially in the books.
We had 38 players tonight. The ace pot started over at $36.00 and was split by two teams: Aaron Hickok hit hole 4 and Randy Hamlin hit hole 5 a little while later.
Randy's ace on 5 also won him the CTP - a copy of Railways of the World, The Card Game donated by Rainy Day Games. Blake Bamford won the CTP on hole 2 and took home a copy of Eco Flux, also donated by Rainy Day Games.
It was a particularly good night for Randy - The Random Ace of the night just happened to be hole 5, so he and his partner both took home a $25 gift certificate to Next Adventure.
Scott Hill and Steve Gelhar just missed the coveted 18 down and finished -17 to take first place.

A group of guys were obviously ganging up on Scott to argue a 'rule' about no practice putts; partner makes their putt, you can't putt as well.
Scott
July 28th, 2010, 01:35 PM
For the record (http://www.pdga.com/rules/rules-for-doubles):
n the Best Shot, Tough Shot, and Best Disc formats, you do not throw if it is mathematically impossible for you to improve your team's score on a hole. In the Best Shot and Tough Shot formats, the second player does not throw if the first player has holed out. If you are playing Best Disc format and your partner has holed out, you do not throw unless you can improve on your
partner's score. Any throw made which cannot possibly improve a team's score on a hole is a practice throw.

What an amazing way to finish a fantastic Tuesday Twos season. Will Odom aced hole one on his last throw of the night to finish -17 down with his partner Luis Nava. On the very next throw, Albert Ricker nearly aced the same hole, but hit the basket and rolled about 50' away. Albert and Sean Fry had to settle for a par, and finished -15. Jeff Larson and Jason Hicks took second place with -16.
There were lots of great prizes give away as well.
