Matt & I have officially decided our team name will be SWEEEET LOU. In honor of Lou Pinella (Manager of the Cubs now, former manager of the Mariners) As hard as it is for me to play with a cubs fan we both do love Sweeeet Lou.

Tyler and I are mailing in our entry tomorrow.....What should our team name be? I meant to give it to you guys right after GNO but in all the confusion you were gone...

I can't wait to get back down to Whistler's for some Doubles action...The Doubles Shootout has always been about having fun and remembering why we all love Disc Golf...It's been many years since I've played...Judging from the field it's sure going to be a tough battle for my 4th Title...

While talking with Yoseman we discussed exploring some new possibilities at the course. Let's get together and come up with some crazy pin and tee locations.... Switching things up from past years will make it difficult to compare scores...BUT, it allows for a fresh look at possible new looks at the course for future events.

We could get really creative one day and play things backwards....Think about it....Whistler's Inversion?? Could be epic.......peACE

We played it backwards one year for a SOWS gig and had a blast.
Hole 12 was the top of the world shot, with the tee up behind regular tee 14.
Some other great shots like a tee by hole 11 to 10's pin.
!0 to 9 was pretty gnarly too.
Hole 1's tee was by 18's green over the road to 17.
Geeze, I forgot how cool that really was.
Thanks Drew for the flashback.

Toby and Matt--adv team.-- team name is: Spark it & Park it.

Any suggestions on area courses to check out prior to, during, or after the tourney... we'll be driving down from Seattle, so I plan on playing Dexter for the first time on the way there or back.
We could obviously play the course in town on tournament day, but are there any others that are close enough to 'mix in' during the tournament? If the guys that I travel with have enough time, I'd like to take a few days and play as many new courses as possible, preferably along the I-5 corridor (I've played most of the Portland area courses).

Keizer Rapids is definitely worth a stop, and I have never been to Cottage Grove yet, but it also sounds good! Cascades Gateway is also near the freeway, easier, more open, but with water...

Just a crazy idea: There are four Advanced Women teams. Move them into the Pro flight, or move us four Am Women teams into the Pro flight. That would open up four Am spaces and leave only three Pro spaces to fill.

Of course, someone would have to check with the people being moved to make sure that doesn't mess up any other plans. I'd be willing to be that someone.

Let me know. I don't watch this site while I'm at work, grin, so if you like the idea and want to set me to calling, ring me... 541.761.3969... and get me the numbers to call.

I guess that's one of those as long as it's everyone else on the I-5 interchange and you get to play a nice quick round kind of attitudes?
Can't wait to hear the comparison of round speed with 8 ladies teams and a full flight vs 7 empty spots in the other flight.

I am getting really excited to be going down to play dubs!!! Great people, beautiful weather in the forecast, the most beautiful setting. Can't wait to see everyone there!

Oh, and as one of the adv. ladies teams, it wouldn't mess up our schedule to change flights. The adv. and pro ladies were mixed last year anyway.

There is not enough spots for 8 more womens teams in the pro flight. I also agree with Mike, there are a lot of pros who would do a lot of b*tching at the dudes that are running the dubs if we would move any ams to the pro flight.

If it will help, you can move Long & Wrong from Pro Master to Intermediate. We're rated below 935 (heck, probably below 925), and we would like to play with other teams that are in Intermediate, like Team Huck-A-Whack...

Not trying to bag on the ladies in any way.....

As a TD of over 100 events, I have found it to be a FACT that if you put a few "AM" groups (not just ladies) in with a pool of Pros.....there will be back ups........period.

My suggestion then would be for the Pro's to pick up their speed of play and not take so much time deciding which Roc they want to throw, put down their towel, and throw already.:shooting:

Now, that's funny.
Well, I hadn't even thought about speed of play when I made my suggestion, and I do agree that we'd be slower during worst shot, since Ginger will be stuck playing my griplocks, won't she... Okay, makes sense. Besides, I am hoping to caddie for Blane and he's in the pros, so I'm happier staying where I am.

Sue you make me laugh, there is officially no better person in the southern oregon disc golf scene than Sue. She does everything for everyone and is over prepared for every event. Has put up with us more than a time or two... Cant wait for dubs

Ooh! thanks, Scotty. Today's my birthday, and this post was the first one I read. The stars are aligned. I'll write your thank you card on an egg salad sammie.

Now, for the weather forecast:
Friday - partly cloudy, 8 49° wind 1mph; noon 61° 5mph; 5 68° 11mph.
Sat - CLEAR!, 11 65° 6mph; 5 76° 8mph.
Sun - Clear again, sweet, 11 68° 5mph, 5 81° 8mph.

Packing my umbrella anyway, of course, but looks like an awesome weekend. Aces will be heard across the land. Baby birds will be rescued. Guitars, harps, drums will lullaby small children to sleep. Ahhhhh.

Thanks in advance to the good folks who make this happen.

Sorry, but no glow golf is allowed, per parks peeps rules.
I have to go as far as saying any glow golfers may be DQed.
And no, that doesn't stand for Dairy Queen.

Whistler Doubles this year was awesome. Tyler bailed me out every time like a true champ. Growing up playing at Whistlers has made me feel so at home out there. The fairways are inviting and the atmosphere can't be beat. We made some pretty ridiculous putts out there. When those are going in it can make for a very special weekend. Thanks to Yoseman for an awesome weekend. It's an honor to be the 4x Whistler Dubs Champion (with 3 different partners, ;) Cheers,

Yeah that's why they built that nice new path on the right side of the fairway...so you don't slip and bust out your shoulder trying to walk straight down that slope...:pirate:

new path is a relative term what with all the rain and mud over the last few months, it blended the wood chip trail into the hillside making it really hard to see. Well at least till i got to the bottom of the hill and saw it coming out from behind the tree....

This tourney is always such a blast to attend. Last year's switch to a 3-day event caught us by surprise, and we weren't able to get the days off work. But I will say now that the 3-day format is awesome and I'd hate to see it go back.

Major Props to Josh and the crew that ran this beast. The course was in great shape, considering the amount of rain that has fallen this year, and all of the new improvements keep making this awesome course even better. I love the new tee pad on hole 5!:yay:

This game of disc golf can be such a fickle beast. Most days you do your best and you take the good with the bad and are just thankful for the ability to be out there enjoying the course and the company. And every once in a while, it all comes together for the magical round. It is even more mystifying when that round happens during a tough shot round.

Hole after hole, we ended up taking Gawain's upshot somewhere between 35' & 55' from the hole, and I just stepped up to the marker and sank the putt. I don't think that G took his putter out of his bag for the first 10 holes... It wasn't always for a birdie either, we sank some long pars and only gave back 3 bogeys the whole round while carding 7 birdies. Even old fat men can play this game every once in a while...

And while we couldn't hold off the -11 round shot by Buck Smith & Phil Ormsby to hang onto the win, second place aint that bad for a couple of Am players playing up into Pro Masters. But Buck was careless enough to let slip his secret, that he out slept me and out drank my partner. So watch out next year when I sleep even more and G pounds down the putting sauce!

This was also the first time that I camped in the group camping area. And that rude awakening started early Friday morning when someone decided that we needed to be serenaded by "I'm in a boat..." at high volume in the 6 am hour. So in response, I would shout out (at various times throughout the weekend) "I'M ON MY COT MOTHERF***ER!!" at the top of my lungs. Kinda became our theme song for the weekend...:pirate:

That was one H*LL of a weekend:yay::yay::yay:!!!!!!!!!! I got to play with a bunch of good dudes every round, even if one of them was a cubs fan:waaah:. Great job to Andrew and Tyler:trophy:. High notes for the weekend was Bo and I cashed for the 1st time at the dubs:rockon:. My biggest victory was beating Jerry Miller in a drinking contest. The epic battle i had at cornhole with Brad McDougal which i also won. Only low note was when some a** hole was power vomiting outside my tent all saturday night. I didn't know some of those sound could come from a person. I hope your feeling better Devin. Well I can't wait to see yall there next year.

Peace Josh
